Yup, I’ve already set the 3dmark using 2070.

I’ll try again later tonight to see if there’s any other option.

So 3dmark is pointing the finger to Nvidia’s driver, lol

Well according the kevin@gentechpc the heatsink must be removed to remove the one ram stick. Regretting not getting the 32gb option from HID when I bought it lol. Oh well, I’m not messing up the paste job so it looks like I’ll be staying with 2x8gb.

I do have a slight undervolt yeah but was absolutely fine with last driver. Would new nvidia driver cause me to change my undervolt again?. The only thing thars changed is the driver :(

Remove the undervolt and try and run it again. If it works then your undervolt is a little aggressive.

Completely turned off the undervolt. And it's working fine .. That's so weird that the new driver caused the undervolt to become unstable. Still learning about all this undervolt ING stuff so bare with me..

Hopefully the new driver fixes tomb raider dx12 crash when going underwater, been playing it in dx11 for Last few days

just ran 3dmark with the gpu overclocked and a slight undervolt just using TS ... if you look at the graph you can see the cpu still drops pretty hard at points during time spy but overall I nailed 9873

    9873
    graphics - 10 819
    cpu - 6 602

maybe still need some tweaks to the undervolt as its still not perfect but that score is quite nice!

    thanks!

    edit *** just got a 9980 - https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/33329240?

Changing the global settings to Nvidia gpu now fix my problem in DLSS Port Royal.

Specifically assigning Nvidia gpu to 3dmark doesn’t work.

    Thanks everyone!

ahh right yeah that makes sense.

you can see the specs from my 3dmark score I think? https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/33329240?

that should list it all, the 512 is the nvme memory and there is also another 1tb ssd in there aswel so 1.5 tb total. 16gb dual channel ram and the 2080

My bad luck your good luck lol

Would you mind putting up your firestrike score too? Many are doing firestrike so it might be easier to compare.

How much did it end up costing you and did it come with any bonuses or extras?

Yeah il put some firestrike up in a moment for you no worries.

I paid 94,000b total and got a free msi backpack, a mouse and giant mouse pad thing and a copy of battlefield 5 and shadow of the tomb raider.

I think prices in the USA may be cheaper but its so hard to get stuff out here, I've seen prices of 99,000+

fire strike 20 509 - https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/33333016? il see if i can up it.

timespy 9993 my highest yet. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/33334647?

These are with no liquid metal cooling or repasting just undervolt and overclock using afterburner.

Feel free to ask for anything else, want to be as useful as I can.

Wow! Not bad at all considering it is all stock. What kind of temperatures are you getting with default/auto and then on full max fan?

Depends on the task but during timespy my fans are just on auto and they don't spin up to max, rhey never go above 75.

Shadow of the tomb raider I was getting 90s but after new driver and undervolt I'm seeing 73-79 sometimes hits 80s but for just a second.

I honestly don't see a big difference between fan fully on and fan 3/4 on and I game with headphones and when I'm editing I'm. Wearing headphones so it's really not an issue.

I think with some more tinkering il push out a few more numbers but as it stands it absolutely killing it.

Are you using the MSI Afterburner beta? 4.6 I think? My gpu clock was acting all wierd on it, 1200mhz while benching lol. My volate curve was corect though. In 4.5 my voltage curve chart is all messed up but it runs normally.

im using 4.5.01 so yeah 4.5 not the beta. I think my curves are ok, they kinda go a bit weird now and then but if i let it sit it will go back to normal, I find the same thing with throttle stop if you keep benching you will get lower scores, sometimes you need to give it a break and come back to it before you play with too many settings and mess it all up.

I dont think I fully understand throttle stop and what im doing but im going to stop playing with it now... Ive hit the magic 10 for timespy and I cant for the life of me get my firestrike any higher than this. grr

    timespy - 10,023 https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/33338620?
    firestrike - 20,561 https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/33338826?

new driver i get lower fps but only by about 5-10 max but also seeing lower temps in games.

Look at your voltage chart, control f on bottom graph area

Mines all wierd on 4.5, http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/msi-afterburner-voltage-screen-issue.827332/

Yours like that too or no?

EDIT* So I wiped 4.5 and installed the beta again and its all good now lol wierd.

wow yeah that is weird I didnt notice that before, mine is also like that on 4.5 but from what I can tell its not hindering performance as the results are better with each increase etc.... is it worth me changing over to the beta do you think?

also what do you use for fan control, I uninstalled dragon center I think it was messing with more than it lets on. I think without it seems to be doing a good enough job determining when i need higher fan speed.

Some very wierd stuff is going on with afterburner....on 4.5 max oc i can get it is +88 core / +1000 mem...and on 4.6 beta im at +130 core / +1000 mem and still increasing.. WTF lol, maybe its something to do with that weird voltage curve.

Fan control I just use the coolerboost button (dragon center removed).

EDIT** +160 now and going up...wth

So I believe that 4.5 is broken for rtx laptops...I was wondering why I had such bad luck on GPU OC only being able to do +88 core. Im benching rn with +175 core on 4.6 beta.

Looks like I didn’t lose the silicon lottery afterall lmao

see what you can knock out in timespy and firestrike.

Trying to chase your 10k score lol....honestly I think our "+88" is our max clock but it was reading wrong...so now to figure out what +88 really is in 4.6 lol. Just benched +175 successfully going for 178 now.

depends I guess, the highest graphics score on timespy i got was 11,156 but on the 10 score it was a little bit lower. +175 is almost 100 more so i think you are right and the results will be the same but just with different numbers reading incorrectly.

what was holding me back was the cpu score, my gfx score kept climbing but the cpu kept getting slightly lower, no repaste or fancy liquid metal here!

Yea I think u got me beat by a bit, my max oc I can hit is +179 / +1000.

9928 looks to be as high as I can get in Time Spy atm. Will test more later atleast I figured out wth was going on lol. +179 is pretty good.

Also you cpu score is slightly higher then mine on your 10k run. Don’t think your throttling at all.

its hard to tell because i was hitting like 6,600 then 6700, 6580 etc and then its just dropped to 6,300 6,200 all of a sudden then seemed to jump back up. cinebench shows some throttling but not much and i get 1240 for my best run. its all trial and error... I think you got me beat on Firestrike tho!

If anyone is ever thinking of buying an HP EX920 nvme drive because it’s cheap... Don’t.

Mine died today. A whole 20 days after purchase.

Luckily still within my return window, and the local parts store had Evo 960 on sale.

I’m so tired of reinstalling windows. It’s been 5 times this month now.

Downloaded The Witcher 3 finally, oh man...beautiful 150fps full ultra (HairWorks off). Gorgeous, I’m absolutely in love with this laptop.

Cant wait to play Metro Exodus on the 15th!! Hopefully preload starts soon on the epic games store so I have it downloaded in time for launch lol.

Memory Express has the Evo 960’s for a fairly big discount currently, couldn’t resist. For the price, so little difference vs the 970. I got a 1tb main drive and a 500gb storage.

Also can’t wait for Exodus. I’ve loved the metro series since day one. I’m happy I bought exodus on steam before they pulled out for epic games.

Honestly not happy about that either, but eh, I’ve been waiting for another metro for too long to get tied up in politics.

Yes! We have 2 nvme slots. I play on adding another Samsung 970 EVO 1TB and possibly ditching the HDD.

Sadly it looks like the second m.2 is slightly blocked by the heatsink just like the one ram stick. That blows....I wonder if you could wiggle the m.2 in flat or not. Kinda disappointed you have to remove the heatsink to change the ram and possibly install a second m.2. I don’t want to ruin HID’s repaste job. Honestly my 1tb nvme + 1tb hdd is lots anyway.... oh well.

Someone needs to do a full teardown video of the GE75 2080....would answer alot of questions.

Ya the witcher 3 is pretty fun, im pretty early in only level 8. Metro looks sick can’t wait.

I missed it on steam sadly however atleast it was $10 usd cheaper on epic lol. Whatever its only single player so idc that much.

Ah ya I see they got the 960’s and wd blacks on sale. I picked up a 1TB WD Black NVMe for my desktop on black friday for $230 cad. 13% slower then a 970 which is pretty damn good. I’m in no rush to add another 970 to my laptop so I’ll wait until they are on sale again.

At 14:00 they cut out removing the ram o_O SMH however it doesn’t look like he removed the heatsink prior to removing it hmmm....maybe you can wiggle the ram out without lifting the heatsink? Also would it be possible to install the second m.2 without removing it? Looks like the heatsink slightly blocks it...not sure if you could wiggle it in gently...the standoff is exposed however.

We need a complete teardown video from someone or someone from NBR that has done a repaste that can maybe answer these questions.

you are in for a treat with this machine man she rips apart anything you throw at her!

if you want to lower temps for gaming at 1080p the best way is really just to limit the cpu to like 3.5ghz games are only using a portion of that anyway and the temps drop 10-15 degrees and fps stays exactly the same.

was playing through a bit of farcry 5 last night and avg 100fps at 70-80c in some areas. not bad at all, sometimes as high as 130 and never bellow 80 even in crazy gunfights.

    so far ive tested

    assasins creed odyssey
    crysis 3
    far cry 5
    hitman 2
    shadow of the tomb raider
    just cause 4
