3.9Ghz is already max freq for 6 cores load, since the 8750H cant change multiplier. Maybe you will see the difference when stressing both CPU and GPU simultaneously

Does any one know if this is the desktop version of the 2080 ? The 180w ?

No, this is a slightly throttled 2080, 150w. Not to be confused with the significantly more throttled 2080 max-q which is 80w.

why only Graphics scores are different? the mod only touches CPU, what makes the GPU performs differently?

Those scores are within margin of error, and your CPU scores are basically identical. I don't think the "mod" affected anything in your CPU based on those results. The GPU results will vary from run to run and whatever the system is doing in the background.

    No idea but I did the following;

Set AC Loadline between 5~10, this one decides how much the CPU should increase the voltage.
Set DC Loadline between 5~10, this one decides how much the CPU should decrease the voltage.
    Set IMON Slope to 50
    Set IMON Offset to 31999
Set IMON Prefix to " -", This is important, if you set it wrong you'll throttle like no tomorrow.
Set VR Current Limit to 928
    Set TDC Enabled to Disabled
Set TDC Current Limit to 0

Monitor your GPU usage, clocks etc during benchmarking, using something like MSI Afterburner. Those settings are for CPU and shouldnt affect GPU unless you are somehow eating a bit of the TDP of the GPU but I doubt that, its a stretch.

You would need a baseline first. On stock settings, you need to run demanding CPU aplications so you can see your CPU reaching its limits. Afterwards, you apply the changes and test again, you should see the results.

I am fairly sure the area 51m is much more expensive for the "same" config. I think the 51m will have its own share of problems and that it falsely promises things it probably won't be able to keep up, like upgradeable MXM (which they said they can't promise unless its same generation, meaning if you buy a 2060 you can upgrade to a 2080, but can't promise 3080). And there will be unknown caveats. Not to mention they are different market products. The GE is thin and light while 51m is a desktop replacement and the GE is a slim gaming notebook that still holds full 2080.

What they are offering in their DGFF format is really no different from Clevo. Upgrades are very costly and for the majority will just not be feasible as you are better off selling and buying a new device instead. Not to mention AMD's zen 2 CPUs coming out with native PCI-Express 4.0 later in the year and intel possibly next year. We also know how Intel loves to change sockets completely every time they release a new 'generation'... As far as 'upgrade ability' goes its all just 'marketing' and neither feasible nor likely tbh.

Very different machines...I actually had a 51m ordered with a 9700k/2080 but decided to cancel and go with the GE75 2080. Mostly due to the two power bricks and its size. I am loving the GE75 its quite a beast! I also saved about $1500 CAD after pricing differences and duty I would have had to pay living in Canada. Also I can't see the 51m out performing the GE75 or GT75 2080's by much tbh.

Personally I think the GE75 2080 is my perfect laptop, pretty slim and very powerful while staying portable.

    Just bought a GE75 2070 today.

Has anyone tried 3dmarks port royal?

I was able to run the Ray tracing benchmark, but not for the DLSS part.

Any ideas? I’ve already updated the latest driver.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion. I didnt oc anything.

    It just says:

"To run this test you need a graphics card with drivers that support DLSS."

And yet I haven’t seen any video in youtube that can run the DLSS in port royal with a laptop.

Just curious if it is a driver issue or I need to RMA my laptop.

Hey everyone, had some issues signing up so havnt been able to post here until now. Picked up the ge75 2080 at release.

My default settings seem to vary from peoples here in this forum not sure if it's becaue I got mine from Asia as I live in Thailand ..

Anyway long story short got a 9760 in timespy and avg 1235 on cinebench using just throttlestop and an oberclock in afterburner.

I've never used throttle stop before and without lowering my 6 core load to 3.7 I couldn't get it to stop throttling, even with an underclock of 160+. The default setting for the short term boost etc in throttle stop are 40 and 90 ... From pics I've seen of other people's systems they are usually much lower? Il post some pics up when I figure out how to do it.

I have a bunch of software and games and willing to run any kind of tests or benchmarks to help some people out or whatever I can do to be useful and also learn how to get the most out of my machine.

    Thanks everyone and hello!

It's possible but my temps are quite good under load. Time spy cpu got 6820 score which is quite good, and it. Never goes above 80c in games. I will have to look into it more I'm not 100% sure. Will a repaste void any warentee?

Yeah I was quite impressed with that score. Its just very strange the defaults in throttle stop are different for mine in comparison to everyone else's. I'm just out at the moment but il post a picture when I'm home. Are you running any over clock or undervolt on your system? I saw. Your result on 3dmark. Very nice

It's some kind of bug in 3DMark for the DLSS test (or in the NVIDIA driver). I have 5 RTX machines in for review, including a bog standard desktop with RTX 2080 and the DLSS test claims the required driver isn't present. Won't run with the latest 2 NVIDIA driver releases.

I had no problem when testing the DLSS port royal in my desktop PC.

So I can only wait either 3dmark or Nvidia to bugfix it, right?

lol This laptop is amazing. Played World of Tanks last night. My old laptop on high would get 60-80FPS, this averages around 160FPS on Ultra and I've seen peaks at over 250.

Guess I can't blame FPS for sucking anymore ;)

Bryneb, I have the same laptop as you and I'm planning to do the same thing as you, ordering HyperX memory today, I'm wondering when doing a clean install... what do you have to keep for drivers, software ect.... To make sure the laptop has no error later.

    Hi Yuri,

I just downloaded everything from the MSI site except for the Dragon Center and the latest nvidia driver from their site. I believe the Dragon Center (or whatever the profile software is called) was the cause of my low CPU scores. After I had everything installed there were a couple of devices that were showing up as no drivers in device manager, but the last Windows update fixed that. I think it was @ryzeki that posted what he installs, I kind of did what he generally does.

No problem in running DLSS in FFXV benchmark, I’ll wait and see next driver update or next 3dmark update.

    Thinking about going up to 32gb of ram. Whats the best brand for laptop ram these days? Was looking at this;

    CORSAIR Vengeance Performance 32GB (2 x 16G) 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Laptop Memory Model CMSX32GX4M2A2666C18 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-233-989&ignorebbr=true

Looking GenTechPC review video @ 14:00 it looks like the ram is covered by a heatpipe....I wonder if that causes issues removing that stick of of ram.

@Kevin@GenTechPC can you confirm that you can remove the ram without removing the heatsink?

Anyone here got any ideas on how to install the latest nvidia driver... It keeps telling me is not compatible with my version of Windows or it can't find suitable hardware but I have the latest Windows. 1809 I'm sure it is... Feeling bit stuck for how to update

    Got a reply from 3dmark:

“NVIDIA driver currently does not correctly auto-switch on laptops for DLSS test. Force the laptop to always use NVIDIA GPU and it will work.”
