Wow, is the difference really so big?! I mean they have the same specs for Christ’s sake, I don’t understand...

So, it shouldn’t be an option for me even with the 250€ discount?! Let me remind you that I’m not a hardcore gamer... What I care about is to have a machine with a good display that runs smoothly & is able to play classic adventure games for ~4 years.

Plus no LM for me, first I don’t know how to do it, and second, I’ll lose the warranty since I’m in Greece and it’s a jungle here...

Lol I can’t beleave I didn’t think of something so simple, I even have vinyl warp here at home from some other projects that I can use, yet it didn’t even come to mind.

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

just a short question from a newbie: I am wondering to see in HWMonitor, that my RTX GPU is in idle (normal web browsing) at 50 degrees Celsius. Is this a normal temperature? Shouldn't it be lower because the Intel GPU is aktivated? Or is my optimus not correct working?

Go into your Nvidia control panel and under Desktop there's an option to display GPU activity in the taskbar. It will show you what is using the GPU.

Stock cooling. No Throttle Stop. No undervolts. I made the modifications from page 48 (post #475) in this thread. Credit to AWholeHam for putting it all together.
Running mild OC on the video with afterburner, 139/915. The OpenGL score recently dropped from 115ish to 105fps after I updated to Win10 version 1809, the infamous October update. Its borked Nvidia's drivers and no one seems to know why they have take a performance hit. Its not noticeable to me except in running silly benchmarks.

I don't know if GE63 is much slower than GE75, I have GE63 8SG and I get 20,593 on Fire Strike with turbo mode and undervolt:
    https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/34290094?

    And 9518 on Timespy
    https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/34290618?

Although I also have replaced the original memory sticks with faster 2x16gb cl15 memory and it looks like they speed up the machine some. But I think even the stock version speed is identical to GE75 as they have same specs. I did a lot of benchmarking at least and didn't see difference.

Heat issues might be a problem though as GE63 is smaller. I had some serious issues with heat and noise until I repasted the machine (not with LM though). Headphones recommended regardless. Maybe the faster memory also contributed to the heat? Also I'd want to get at dual channel two memory stick version even at stock.

Hey Scramble74, and hey to everybody!!

I just ordered my GE75 8SE!!!! I hope I made the right choice *fingers crossed*.

So, I guess you’ll be seeing me around here often asking stupid questions about stuff that I have no idea about like undervolting, pasting, benchmarking etc etc, so please I’m asking for everybody’s patience in advance!! :D

no not normal, it should be deactivated. your power button light should be white unless you're using the rtx gpu. go to nvidia control panel and make sure nothing is using it. in nvidia control panel, Desktop > display notification activity in gpu area. see if there's something using it.

also regarding your other fan question, play around with silent option (google it and download from msi's website)

I just got my GE75 last friday. I have the 1tb ssd with 2080 version. My cpu sky rockets while gaming. I have undervolted it on the core and cache -165.0 and put the turbo ratio on all cores to 35. I run mid 80s sometimes getting into the low 90s. Do i need to repaste or is this just how it is? I have to run the fans on high as well to stay in at those temps. Would a cooling pad help? Thing performs awesome! Fans dont bother me to much as i have a headset on. But id like to see if i could drop the cpu temps a little more.

Also could anyone tell me how to turn the intel graphics back on while gaming? I cant remember how i turned them off in the first place! LOL

Hello everyone! This is my first post here, apologies if I break any posting rules. I just ordered my first MSI laptop from HIDEvolution, it's a Custom Built MSI GE75 8SF Raider-049 - 17.3" - RTX 2070. I chose this vendor based on several recommendations on this site and reddit. I expect to receive the laptop in about 2 weeks and will update with my first impressions. This is my first time shelling out for a high end gaming laptop, and I can't wait to give it a whirl.

I have only just started reading this thread, are there any important tips or things I should know concerning this machine?

Got my GE75 yesterday, was hoping to get a extra 16GB to take it up to 32, but the laptop was shipped with 2 x 8GB SODIMMs, anyone else with the same. I thought they came with 1 x 16GB SODIMM in single channel mode.

Yes i think you need a repaste. I was at 98c on cpu with -120 undervolt I kept the fans on auto. I repasted with kryonaut and its now at 78c max during games. I dont stress test but playing FF14, Quake Champions, Anthem max settings. I dont use a cooling pad with mine.

    Amazon has a good deal on the GE75 RTX 2080. 32gb ram, 1tb NVMe (2x512). 2tb HD. $2599

    I'm so tempted.

What is the best for temp monitoring?

Throttlestop will sometimes show high 80's as the max yet I've never seen Riva tuner go above 80

Damn, that's a good deal but yeah tax is a deal breaker depending on where you are. I got mine at Microcenter for $2750 + 3% UEZ tax in NJ. The only difference is the Amazon one comes with a 2TB HDD instead of a 1TB. If I bought from Amazon, I'd have to pay for AZ taxes at 9% so it's a wash.

I have no idea what to do since this is my first gaming laptop, too many things to check and setup etc... I feel like it’s my first time with a pc in general since I haven’t used win 10 ever...

Any first suggestions/advice?! What should I check/downoad first??

To look on the brightside, at least dual channel is better than single channel in pretty much every game. Sucks, though, the upgrade path to 32GB is a whole lot more expensive now.

I went with a few upgrades:
    - Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on CPU + GPU, and Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads
    - M.2 PCIe Slot 1 upgraded to Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 500GB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 3D-VNAN
    - 2.5" HDD/SSD Bay upgraded to 2TB Seagate FireCuda Gaming 7mm SSHD
    - Wireless Cards upgraded to Intel Wireless-AC 9560 802.11
    - Operating System upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 64bit with a clean install

Note that I chose not to spring for the dual channel RAM as the articles I read online indicate that the performance gain is only 15-20% over and since I don't play too many FPS I figured I didn't need it.

Looks like you should be good to go! Hope you enjoy it :)

You may want to look into undervolting and following AWholeHam's bios guide for the 8750h if your temps are high. Helps quite a bit.

So ive been looking at the silent option program from msi.....is there a center one i have to download? They have a list for all the models and i do not see our Ge75s on the list. Really would like to get rid of the dragon center and use this.

hwinfo64 and ThrottleStop are good choices if you want to (1) verify that all hardware is expected, (2) monitor temperatures, (3) fiddle with undervolting.

Checking what version of the Nvidia driver you have and updating it is also pretty obvious.

3DMark does have a demo version available if you want to benchmark w/o paying for it. Might be useful for checking stability if you venture into undervolting/overclocking, without the risk of crashing and losing progress in an actual game or in a long compute job.

Hi, can you tell me what is your value on throttlestop EPP , and witch power plan do you use ( a custom from the panel control, or the slider, on the battery icon ?)

Congrats dude!! cant wait for mine. I did order ge75 raider 050 8se.. !!!
Did the same but with these upgrades:
    - Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on CPU + GPU, and Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads
    - 2.5" HDD/SSD Bay upgraded to 2TB Seagate FireCuda Gaming 7mm SSHD
    - 30 Days Zero Defective Pixel Warranty (perfect panel guarantee
    - Operating System upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 64bit with a clean install
-quality check and give me a panel with minimal backlight bleed.
    -HIDevolution Approved Standard 32GB Dual Channel DDR4/2400MHz (2 x 16GB)

I noticed that the PSU is only 180w, will this be enough? the asus counter part is 230w?
    hmmmmm...

1 - By the slider ? or by the control panel ?

Just for your info ( According to Hackness guide here : http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...trol-of-the-i7-8750h-advanced-version.823065/ on chapter 4, ( "...Many of you already know that you can set the EPP ...... CPU is still listening to the same value...." ). So the EPP 128 in TS does not correspond to the performance mode...

2 - Did you follow the guide of AWholeHam here ? http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...scussions-lounge.825828/page-48#post-10863491

I followed Awholehams guide, a -60 undervolt and repasted and get 79-80 on hottest cores in Tanks, haven't played BF5 in a bit, but It did get a bit warmer.

Have Gelid Extreme coming in today, I'll let you know what temps are like when I'm done
