In ur case, as I told u in discord bro, ITS A MUST HAVE. Yes u need to put pads, never paste the heatsinks and power protectors.

You don't need skins you can order vinyl and cut it to your fitting that is what I did.

I ended up getting this. I bought it a microcenter which came with 32gigs of RAM and 1tb raid nvme for 2750. I added in a 2tb samsung 860 evo. Only issues I had was with heat management even with a .125 undervolt i was hitting 98c on the cpu just playing games. I ended up taking it apart and repasting with grizzly kryonaut and its now maxing out at 84c gaming so very happy. Was very easy to repaste this.

I am real impressed with the size to performance ratio. Its still really portable for my needs,

I have the 8SG with single 16 GB RAM, tomorrow I'm going to repaste with grizzly kryonaut and put another 16 GB RAM so I have dual channel. What method did you use on the repaste? spreading with a car, putting a pea, putting an X...? Thanks

Thanks! I for the moment think I will try to spread it with a card or something, but If I don't have good results, will try with your method. To open the computer, where do you start once you unscrew the back?
I mean where do you start introducing the "guitar pick" or something to open the case?

    Thanks a lot! :)

Sure i started at the bottom right corner then the bottom left corner and just started gently wiggly each side and it came up pretty easily. I used a small plastice wedge that came with my computer screwdriver kit. I needs a little force but nothing crazy.

Just got mine yesterday at Microcenter as well. Benching with coolerboost setting in 3DMark yielded max ~85C CPU and ~70C GPU. Excellent cooling on stock paste compared to the Asus GL704 RTX 2070 I'm testing. Will repaste with LM and Fujipoly pads tomorrow and report back.

U have to limite ur turbo to 3.6GHz and u get 10ºC or even more less. Its turbo speed related, TDP will cause throttle, so anyways u need to lower ur speed on CPU!

Couple hours ago I managed to do my first repasting with Kryonaut without breaking anything (I think). I couldn't have done it without this illustration so thanks!

It did seem to have effect as now, on a cooling pad, I wasn't able to break 90C with AC: Odyssey and walking around in Athens even without Throttlestop or undervolt. On less demanding games temperatures seem to stay mostly below 80C.

Undervolted -140mV and testing CPU-Z's stress CPU which puts 100% load on all cores I got max temperature of 81C before the CPU power throttled.

Using the thing on a table and without cooling pad does still cause temperatures of over 90c when I hit CPU and GPU with everything I got but they seem to be few degrees cooler and not going to 99c or 100c anymore.

With CPU I put two dots because it wasn't exact square. With square shaped GPU I added one dot in the middle. Wasn't sure but perhaps slightly too much on CPU with those two dots, but not much too much.

Around the GPU though relatively far away from it there were components with adhesive - stock thermal paste there too? I didn't touch them but only cleaned and pasted the GPU and CPU dies. Did I do the right thing? I also had purchased some (0.5) Thermal Grizzly pads but didn't change them.

I have made a couple cosmetic mods to my GE75 I hate the red accents on the lid and mousepad so i used an acyrllic painters pen to make them black. Pretty happy with how it came out, will see how it holds up: Link: https://imgur.com/a/9v25qiB

What are the best techniques to use to make the machine rune silent? Will undervolting and reducing turbo help? Mine has been re-pasted/padded so that part should be good to go. Trying to see if I can get a profile w/enough performance, cooling and reduced noise so my wife stops giving me dirty looks.

Thermal grease is applied only on the crystal, so you did everything right. I think we now have similar temperatures. I also have about 90 ° C in AC: Odyssey, about 80 ° C in less demanding games.
But I did the BIOS settings previously laid out AWholeHam, as well as limited the frequency of the processor 3700.
In the near future I want to go ahead and replace the thermal grease on the LM and put the gasket GELID GP Extreme. I think this will allow you to use the processor at a frequency of 3900 and keep acceptable temperatures.
    I'll keep you informed )

So need some help on memory for this laptop. Planning to get an extra 16GB memory module but don't know what to get. I know its DDR4-2666Mhz but there seems to be variations. I'm sure timings don't matter so much as it will operate at the lowest rating but any suggestions?

Matching RAM is not important like it used to be. The system should run both sticks at whatever the slowest of the two sticks is. You shouldn't have any problems.

Warning for all users of RTX 2070 and RTX 2080

I contact several times MSI (Europe) and now they confirme this by email:

"At the moment our team of engineers is analyzing the various cases, hopefully launch a new BIOS / Firmware that solves the problem.
We are also waiting for the Nvidia team for news, the general problem is not just our brand.
Stay tuned for updates, we will try to contact you as soon as we have an update."

There is been alote reports of FPS drops (not caused by any heat or lack of dual channel) but some mal function). For the RTX 2080 underperformes alote against even a RTX 2070 as for the RTX 2070 there are some issues like mine that they "Overclock" alone to values of 2100MHz of Core Speed causing FPS drops and lag. It can be fixed if u downclock but still gona lose perfomance.

Theres is a vídeo showing how the clocks are way high in other cases:

Sadly there are many reports across the world and not only MSI, ASUS are having same issue and problems. Its not CPU related but Nvidia.
Lets hope they fix it as soon as possible, because its frustrating. Its a expensive damn laptop, not all buyers have this problem but from what I saw there is alote people that have that problem and doesn´t know. DON´T make sintetico benchs because it won´t show there ur poor perfomance, its ingame laggy and fps drops, inconsistance in core speed and lack of energy (mV are way to low).

I tryed everything u can imagine for the last 6 days, conclusion: Can´t do a ****. have to return this laptop and fingercross they accept it since its only 7 days old.

The 8750H seems to hit power limit throttle quite a bit. The thermals are not a problem since I repasted with liquid metal. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes. Even with a good amount of undervoltage, u get alote "PL1 and PL2".

    Solution using throttlestop:
    - CPU Cache Offset Voltage (-160mV)
    - CPU Offset Voltage (-160mV)
    - iGPU Offset Voltage (-100mV)
    Add under CPU Voltage (1.0000V)

Limite your turbo to 3.6GHz only on core 6 all the rest u can leave it as it is, (but under 100% you will still get PL2 and PowerThrottle) but since most games won´t use 100% u can leave it that way.

If u wanna complete remove the Power Limit there is only 1 solution. Turbo Speed to max 3.4GHz, u won´t excede 45W on TDP at 100%.

Im testing all sorts of settings ALL weak and this is the most stable on. Even with 3.6GHz u get a good Cinebench R15 1150 score.

There is no way to put higher TDP for this case, to use 3.9GHz we would need atleast 75W (but since its locked to 45W) u can´t do much but this.

Sure I have LM too, my temps never go over 73ºC under full load. Found out that there is a Power Limit and u can´t overcome that, not even in BIOS.

i just changed from paste kryonaut to LM conductonaut. https://imgur.com/a/z7ufyfG
the foam barrier is from a case with lots of screwdrivers and such.

i had one problem... msi support said that 0.5mm thermal pads should fit, but my gpu did not touch the heatsink when i used 0.5mm, only the cpu touched.
it did originally come with thermal grease type on those components around gpu and as i could see a 1mm pad on the components above cpu.

so i had to put kryonaut paste on the components surrounding the gpu and then the heatsink touched the gpu.

    Before LM:
    TS https://www.3dmark.com/spy/6509577
    FS https://www.3dmark.com/fs/18631778

    After LM:
    TS https://www.3dmark.com/spy/6511829
    FS https://www.3dmark.com/fs/18633765

Dont look at the score too hard, undervolted and underclocked.

There are improvements on the score from before to after, but the biggest is probably the reduction of temp. around 10c less on avg, it was 15c less at the start. (dont remember exact temps now because i am not at my laptop and the online result doesnt show temp, but around 70 max)

since i used 0.5mm pads above cpu and it looked like 1mm when i took off the original ones, would i have to clean and repaste the components around gpu(kryonaut paste) if i wanted to check if the pads touches components and heatsink?

I experienced the same thing in my repaste. 0.5mm thermal pads around the GPU was too thick so I ended up using K5 Pro around the GPU. I did use thermal pads on the components around the GPU that originally had pink thermal pads on though. 0.5mm pads around the CPU worked fine, very good contact.

yup same , the fujipoly 0.5mm some parts are too thick for it. my gpu almost got burned by doing this. and i stuck on bios (had to take out both hdd for it to forced bios and disable fast boot for it to work again) so what i did was repaste the vrms and other components around gpu with mastermaker gel nano , gpu and cpu with kryo

my question is by repasting around gpu and cpu with thermal paste .. is it safe ? since mastermaker pro is non electric conductive ? or should i repaste with the blue adhesive paste that msi originally pasted ? (btw where can i get the blue paste)

You can get the noise from the GE75 with undervolting a bit under control. But for gaming a headphone is always to recommend.

I dont hear my GE75 while using headphone with nc. I am very happy with my GE75 (same specs as reviewed) :)

Don´t think so. But again messing with BIOS isn´t smart and it won´t change much perfomance.

    Nope u can´t. I tryed everything.
And the review proves my point, u can´t get higher then 1635MHz, even if I downclock he goes way higher!

    Thanks alote!
Well I got better score out of the box lol anyways!

you can lock it, i just tried. in afterburner, press CTRL F, choose one of the squares in the graph, then press L to lock. then press the checkmark button in afterburner. to remove the lock, press the "refresh" or circular arrow button. you can lock it at over 1900 if you want. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you posted

The problem is (u can see on the notebookcheck review) my clocks are unstable, they go over 1700MHz and even 1900MHz with any overclock, causing so underperfomance and instability.
I already tryed to OC Scan, he goes up to 2160MHz, can´t be lol!

Ok it did work and he doesn´t go over the limited yellow (L).
Now I have to find a stable value... per voltage and MHz

    Heeey there, it’s me again!!

So, I was about to order my GE75 8SE (for ~2150€, prices dropped a bit for the whole MSI RTX series), and to my surprise I find that on a specific online store the GE63 8SE is now at ~1850€!! What the beep?! What do I do? I haven’t been able to find reviews for the GE63... Am I stupid for not getting it that instant??! I’m following this thread and I see many people have overheating issues with their GE75 and I’m thinking if its bigger brother have overheating issues then I’ll probably have issues with GE63 and as I said before I have no idea about repasting, undervolting etc etc (although I’m a fast learner and a curious person!)...
    Please h e e eee elp
