My Phison loads Doom Eternal and other games as fast as my desktop with Samsung 980 Pro on a PCIx 4.0 bus. So not sure how much better performance could be. When you get the machine check CPU-Z fpr the ram speed. I got my machine back from Depot for mobo replacement and it came back showing memory speed of 800mhz. I had to go into the secret bios and change the settings to enable the proper speed. You should go in and record the settings so when you do a bios flash update you will know how to set it correctly again.

Thanks for sharing - not bad not good ssd for PCI4 - very "shy" and economy in comparison with Samsung 970 Evo plus - top line on PCI3.

Definitely Planning to move IT to PCI3 slot and use PCI4 slot for real SSD as Samsung 980Pro etc, some Reading losses will paid off.

If I have time tonight I'll run the numbers on my SS 980 pro. In Samsung magician it was something like 6700/5500 or there abouts.

That sounds familiar for my desktop. Bottom line is the Phison loads Doom as fast or maybe even faster than the 980 desktop.

Got a micron SSD in mine. It's the Micron 3400. Haven’t had time to dig in - still doing updates.

So this is a pretty decent SSD, has 6600/5000 speeds. It's oem version drive. If My laptop came with that I would be happy and not change out
My machine came with Kingston, while it is on the slower side it's sustained numbers are actually pretty good.
Moved the kinstone to slot 2 and put my SS980 In slot 1 which is the X4 slot.

Power draw goes between 137 - 141 while mining.

Hmmm, that's a GOOD really ONE! With this one no need to take PCI4 SSD and exchange slots in future.

Curious about Temperature Numbers to CHECK under the load and is there any space-place for any simple heatsink?!

Cool beast - pardon I meant hot :)) Because you left too much CPU frequency and presence high Power draw -> less efficiency and higher temperatures.

My desktop same card do the same at 743mv and with 51W Powerdraw. (lower CPU and higher Memory till 2000) + may be possible to squeeze till 60mh/s.

20211012_125428.jpg Can you run it for a while and verify it doesnt go higher. Mine starts off like that then can go crazy. It actually goes as high as my desktop 3060ti.

Mine only does it on CPU and GPU intensive games that ramp everything up to 100%. COD Modern Warfare and Doom Eternal will trigger it every time. Running MDSI Kumbustor and CPU stress test wont ever do it. Not sure why.

Additional value from MSI. Thought I would share MSI promotions that add value to your purchase. If you go and register with MSI and register the laptop you can get an Intel creators bundle which gives access to photo editing, movie editor, music creation software. Some of which are full versions.

To add a bonus on top of this if you review the laptop (reviewed mine on Costco) you can get $50 steam credit. I have redeemed mine and it added 52 dollars.

Just wanted to share this with everyone, since this really adds value if you can use the software that is offered.

You can enable advanced mode in bios and have access to memory settings. Here is the key sequence once in bios:
RIGHT SHIFT, RIGHT CTRL, LEFT ALT, F2.

Be careful getting to aggressive with memory timings as games and programs can get corruptrd.

Yeah it’s the same settings as homeboy from that vid you posted. Different mem and system perhaps, but it has survived the night so far.

I went from auto gear to gear 1 and it speeds up the timings a little but goes to 2933 MHz, interestingly. Hence why I set manual timings.

Annoyingly - it doesn’t persist upon reboot.

That is why I decided against getting faster ram, besides the timings the kit I was looking at needed 1.35 Volts. Having to figure out how to make the setting persistent would have been a pain. For me it's not worth it. I just want it to work reliably.

Yup. Zero point. Any laptop RAM is not going to give you the gains that you think you'll get - even if you can pump to 3600 MHz and beyond. I have 4233 MHz on my 9900KS box and while it rips for things like mining Monero and doing 3DMark runs to attempt to beat your friends - it otherwise doesn't do much. :)

GE76 Model with 3060 runs colder then 3070 - and I am talking not only about GPU - same CPU was around +5C, difference with CPU silicon lottery 11800H was -75mv for 3060 and -55mv for 3070.
3070 has +10C for hot spot instead OF 3060 FOR JUST +5C DIFFERENCE
if 3070 GPU core 65-66 under pressure undervolted so hotspot was 77C
    3060 - 63-65 with hospot only 69 max.

I am not even sure what the point of your post is. Hotter GPU equals hotter CPU. 3060 < 3070.

I believe most gaming laptops these days share heatpipes between the gpu and cpu, [IMG]

I believe a lower temperature on the GPU could indeed affect the cpu's temperature

I played a little bit with Intel tuning utility. I was able to undervolt to -75mv and get the the quick performance test to make ith through to the end without throttling. Don't remember how I had my fans set. However I haven't played with it in actual use yet. I mainly play StarCraft and really it doesn't get that hot for me to mess with the undervolting.

They repasted my heatsink when they replaced the motherboard and it made a massive difference in cpu thermal throttling. Even undervolted it would throttle almost immediately on Intel stress test. Now it doesnt so i am very pleased. They mentioned the heatsink on the work order along with mobo replacement but didnt go into detail. It was not replaced because it was still a bit dusty but definatly keeping the cpu hecka cooler

Happy camper today, my Costco MSI GE76 Raider 11UG-468 is out for delivery today. I'm coming from an ASUS Rog G73 and I'm completely unfamiliar with MSI's gaming laptops recommended initial setup. (The first things one should do out of the box). If there's a write up or a video of the initial setup process that someone can direct met to... I would appreciate it. Also, for those that got the same exact model from Costco, were there any updates for the MSI applications and drivers that need to be applied without delay. Any recommended additional tools that I should install? Lastly, I'm assuming that there's an SSD image backup process to use to create a recovery image on a USB stick. Any recommendation for the USB Stick that I should use for recovery? (manufacturer/size/interface) - Most of my old USB sticks are full and others have connection issues with some computers. I probably won't get to play with the Raider until the weekend (busy with work) and would like to get as much information about it before I start making any changes.

don't worry - you covered - looks like you duh yourself twice already as you mentioned? so try to reread my text or lips whatever - if you can't see or understand english or numbers or Celsius temperature - about the difference in hotspot, skip it for future:
the post was that in same model and CPU but 3070 and 3060 differences in hotspot GPU-Z and usually people simply sharing results to compare. So be it.

Personally I was pleased with laptop hotspot temp differences for 3060 and not for 3070 which compatible with my desktop 3070 card difference around +10C. And if Temp is more, then for a new buyer it`s a signal to be aware or etc

Cool. I've also found that RTX 3080 creates more heat than the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3060 with the same CPU.

I had a Leopard with a 3080 and sent it back. Was barely faster than my 3070 raider. The Leopard had crap usb ports and no usb c period. No card reader or webcam even. Piece of crapola. I have seen someones benchmark with a raider with 3080 but i am thinking it was overclocked to the edge of sanity or beyond to get those numbers. Then i saw they had a new replacement they wefe selling. Hmmm.

I should mention that the TPM module was disabled on mine so Windows update said it was not compatible with Win 11. You need to go into the bios to enable it which is kinda stupid.

Have you found it worthwhile to go to 11? I am still on 10 on mine. I went to 11 with my Asus G15. It's fine but not super duper jazzed. Does it help with gaming a lot?
