Mine shows the wattage in Hwinfo. It only disappears if the driver crashes or something, in which case, I simply need to restart Hwinfo.

So you managed a score 19269 on your GPU which is very standard score for the GPU. I also saw that you got a nice bump by using Jrey's mod. Kudos!

I think your GPU is fine. Any extra score will have to be juiced out by careful experimentation with the v/f curves in AfterBurner. You can probably get another 500 by some more overclocking on the core.

Do you know if this removes any module of the driver that are used for machine learning?

I’m unsure. Open the driver slimmer and load the driver. Then it’ll show all the modules it comes with. You’ll have to do some research to see what modules you’ll need that are required for machine learning.

If you’re concerned about DLSS, keeping NGX will keep the library.

Nah no amount of reinstalling drivers works.

I finally found out how to fix it...when the issue occurs i literally have to plug the headphones in suuuuuuuper slowly and kinda tease it into the hole (yes as dirty as it sounds) to get sound to come out through them..its so strange. This isnt every time i plug in headphone either, its just every now and then when no sound is outputting through them.

Overall im unimpressed with the laptop as a whole, so many small nagging issues compared to my Helios 300 which was perfect.

    - Constant issues with getting sound through headphones
    - Dead pixel in display
    - When i uninstalled the keyboard lighting software it completely disabled keyboard
    - The killer wifi is horrible and constantly drops out (tested side by side with old laptop to make sure it wasnt the modem)
    - Laptop runs at full CPU utilization when plugged in to power source and just light web browsing causing it to get super hot and fans to ramp up (not plugged in is fine and normal CPU usage)

Most of these seem software related, but its just been a massive pain in the ass laptop to own for the few weeks ive had it compared to my old Predator Helios 300 which was perfect out of the box

Is there a way to keep the Dragon Center feature of not charging the battery while above 80%? I've switched to silent option but miss that feature - unless you don't think its necessary.

Also does performance matter whether the laptop is charging or at 100%?

I have uninstalled Dragon Center to switch to Silent Option and my previous battery setting survived.
Is there any way to change that setting without having to reinstall DC ?

Hey guys, just got GS65 with RTX 2060.

I have used Intel XTU and set up -0.120volt on core + cache and "turbo boost short power ma exnable" to disable. And also set in windows power management core to 99% instead of 100%.

Havent touched the GPU. And Im getting around 50-60 in water town (inside castle 45) fps in Metro Exodus.

Metro exodus everything on max + rtx + hairworks + dlss.

    My firestrike score is 13597

My gpu temp when gaming Metro is 70 and cpu hovering around 80.

    My Driver version is 417.49

Are these scores allright? Just asking making sure everything is working properly :)

Your scores are fine for stock. With OC in MSI Afterburner you'll make it into the 14000s

Post your Graphic, Physics and combines scores please.

Your good, there are a bit of tweaks you can do to get more out of the machine.
What is ambient temperature? I get 78C max on CPU during Firestrike

My room temperature is 26. Should I lower the undervolt as much as I can? I just did to -0.140 and firestrike ran a bit bit better :p

What else can I do? Ive read I could use throttlestop program, but should I? Should I also uninstall dragon center? Or if not can I use afterburner with dragon center installed?

Exiting dragon center had 0 impact on the score/temps.

Use throttle stop. UV then hit TS BENCH on throttle stop. Run it a few times if you get no errors you are good. If you get errors dial back a bit and redo TS bench

Ok so I did -0.140 on throttlestop and did the Ts Bench 64m = 6.363, 256m = 25.570. Some cores had 83 some 88 and 2 cores had 91 during the test. Is it normal?

During 1024m test there was 87 on avg some cores had 91, score = 106.883.

There was small hiccup when I tried to move the window during the test.

How far should I go with the undervolt?

12 thread 1024. Run it, we are only checking for error. Keep UV further, test , UV, test.

I personally test with prime95 afterwards.

Ok I did -160 on TS and TS Bench was fine but pc restarted during Firestrike test.

Lowered to -155 and Firestrike ran ok, but my score is actually lower now (13400) and temps are the same when I had -140 (13500+ undervolted under XTU Intel)

So Should I stick to Intel XTU and set (-150 or -140?) or is there something more I should have checked in Throsttlestop program?

Thats really wierd, Im getting way better scores when I use XTU Intel. Ive set -150 undervolt and got 13600 firestrike score and temps are better than using Throttlestop.

I guess ill stick with it. Is there anything else I can do more @xLima ?

You can’t access those in laptop GPUs because of the power limitations and design.

There's a feature to limit max battery charge to 80%? Maybe I should reinstall Dragoncenter for that feature alone...

    Hei guys!
I have 2070max q version, just run Fire Strike and got 14350. Is that good for everything stock or it is too low?
Here are lot ow information about what can you do to improve this graphic performance, bet what would recommend for users which are new to doing this? Simple steps?

    Hey there,

Regarding the Killer Wi-Fi issues, try clean installing to the latest version of the Killer Control Center by following this guide - https://support.killernetworking.com/knowledge-base/clean-install-killer-control-center/.

If that doesn't resolve the issue for you, please reach out to us directly by filling out the form here - http://support.killernetworking.com/submit-a-ticket/ - which will also allow you to submit a diagnostic.

However, considering some of the other strange issues that you are encountering with your machine, you may want to start with either reinstalling Windows, or contacting the manufacturer for repair or RMA. It sounds like there are some serious problems with the machine as a whole. Most of the problems that you mentioned could be caused by power supply issues, which would also cause wireless drops.

The network issues (wlan and wifi) has nothing to do with the machine. I also encountered very high lag spikes and disconnections then I unticked the "Advanced stream detect" and all the disconnections were gone... but the lags remained. So I decided to remove the entire Killer software suite and just install the Intel drivers and oh... magically all the lags were gone. I spent days trying to figure out what was happening but now I know one thing for sure: I won't install any Killer software again. And I'm not the only one affected by this issue, here take a look:

The default MS Windows Intel Wi-Fi drivers wouldn't work properly, I got "ssl bad record mac alert" when opening webpages. You need to install the Killer WiFi drivers --just the drivers, don't install their control panel BS.

Edit: I used the ones on the MSI 2019 GS65 support page

    Further edit for clarity.

I would do the same by removing the driver package completely, then do driver-only install to verify.

Hum that's weird. The killer wifi card we have in the GS65 and the Intel 9560 are **exactly** the same card so that should work. Here is the message I got from Zoltan (HIDEvolution) to help me get rid of the killer software suite:

    > So let's do a test to remove the current Killer driver and all the Killer Suite( https://mega.nz/#!GRBmmYjC!sk1Jt43bZEkYgEIEbEjOpGaxA7tvDc6O5efxJYGhORY ) and then install the Intel 9560 driver( https://mega.nz/#F!KYRSCCSJ!dvPWiobOLrFszcpNYHqEvw ) Then please test you games and let me know if it is anything changed.

    Hope it helps.

Sorry I should have been clearer in my post, I meant to say default MS Windows drivers (which identify it as an Intel Wi-Fi card) after I did a fresh OS install. It's that default driver that was causing issues for me.

There seems to be something wrong with the speakers of my GS65 (2019 model). I was watching a TV series using external speakers via the 3.5mm jack. Suddenly the laptop froze. After forcefully shutting down the laptop and restarting it, the speaker started giving out terrible cracking/distorted sound when playing any audio through the built in speakers. So distorted that you can't even make out a single word. It sounds like random frequencies playing along with a serious amount of distortion. Audio output through headphone jack is fine. I tried to reinstall the Realtek audio driver several times, but that did not work. I also tried to uninstall nahimic and then reinstall realtek drivers. That too didn't work.

Does anyone know whats wrong and how to fix it?

Edit: It basically sounds like a terribly tuned radio.

Sounds like the Realtek audio controller had gone kaput, and you had already done troubleshooting. I would try last thing by backing up all data and then do a factory reset to verify as the last resort.

So I got pissed off and went to sleep after initiating a backup to my HDD. Woke up now and suddenly everything works. Now I have this nagging feeling that my speakers sound poorer (in terms of quality because of all the high frequency crackling it did). But I'm pretty sure its something in my head. I'm going to keep monitor this for a couple of days now.

But you don't think this is a motherboard issue do you? The circuit lines going to the DAC or the sound card itself?

I'm looking to get an extra charger. One for my home office, the other for the living room. My desk is located where there's literally one outlet and I have to crawl under my desk to plug it in, then when I go upstairs to d o work, game, etc. I need to get down there and get it moved upstairs. I was hoping to keep them both stationary.

Is this "safe" for the battery, or am I out of luck. It doesn't seem MSI sells chargers like, Razer, Dell, etc.

I know the GS65 with 1070 max-q comes with a 180W charger. So RTX is either equal or more. If you need help finding out which one you have just let us know.

I believe only the 2080MQ has a 230W PSU, the rest of versions use the 180W PSU.

2070 and 2080 (both MQ) get the 230w and the 2060 (full fat) gets the 180.

Thanks for the clarification! Unrelated to this: I will try the 90w bios this weekend. I hope everything is compatible!

From current testing with Metro Exodus, my max GPU temp was 70 celsius and my CPU around 80 celsius, so I am hoping that flashing won't increase too much temps, maybe 80 celsius?

80 degrees is really pushing it for a mobile GPU. Considering the critical temp on a desktop GPU is around 94, at which point system shuts itself down. Compared to a CPU, the critical temp is 119. I wouldn't unless you have a very good thermal set up.

That’s probably close to what you’ll get.
I maxed out at 76c when on the 90w bios.

Btw, on the Alienware Area51 with a full 2080, it comes with a 190w bios. Dell also has a 200w bios available to download and flash. Some users have reported burning out their 2080s after flashing.

My point is, be careful. I personally didn’t like the extra power pulled and temp increase while flashed so I’m back at 80w.
