FUDGE! I'm going to have to wait another week to make my laptop and go to the trouble of getting my money back for the cpu. I can't believe this guy has 100% feedback. People are fools.

EDIT: Can anyone confirm if ES-QAEL C0 works in the ms-1722?

    Well, I have bought this: Intel Dual Core T3200 (2 x 2,0 Ghz) [LF80537] Sockel P,
it is a Merom (no 45nm, no Penry) and I could update Bios and Firmware :)

Some are exchanging this cpu and one might get it cheap ;)
Or - as I have allready updated my Bios - I can sell it for 40 Euro + reg. letter ( I think 5 - 10 Euro), who would need for his 1722 - just send me a private message.

    CU,
    Carl

Note that there is a huge contradiction in his ad. Take a look at the question and answer part:

    http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...QAlways=1&SSPageName=PageAskSellerQuestion_VI

He said to two people that the processor would work in msi laptops.

I will say that I bought a cpu with the exact same specs he is advertising from a different seller, and it worked. They might just be bad cpu's that you guys got, but he also may not be selling what he's advertising.

hello folks. I just grabbed a MS-1722 ID1 off of fleabay, so ill be one you soon! Im excited hehe. I really appreciate the knowledge in this thread and it will be invaluable in my build. I have some questions as well. I am wondering if you can use a 5350 wimax card in this laptop? And if so is there any special notes i may need per install and drivers to look for? Is their a particular card you can recommend to me from ebay so im aware of the correct model #? Also, i beleive ill be grabbing the following items for the build:

    P8600 cpu
    4gb G.skill 2x2
wimax 5350 intel card(hope it will work fine here)
Sony dvd drive(as its tough to locate superdrive)
need to find a msi bezel for dvd drive
    WD 320gb sata 3.0

Will there be a problem using a sata 3.0 drive in this system? I thought specs showed use of up to 1.5?
Will the P8600 work with the shipped firmware?(dont have another cpu to use to flash at this time)

I appreciate your time and insights.

the t9400 qael works fine in the 1722 for me as well as the 1651 AND IT DOES monitor the temps and shows as a retail chip would in windows the only way a qael shows es in a program like cpuid. i have used 7 of the qael's they all work fine. i do not buy them from him because i have another supplier but they are in fact c0 qael chips i have used and they worked perfectly. ONLY if you buy a b1 or earlier stepping will they not support temps. some co's will show temps but not the name of the chip (q155) some will show the name of the chip and temps and show the chip as a es. some c0's dont even show es in the bios like the qael. in the bios it does not even say es anywhere

I have ordered a T9600 from this guy, he said it would work with a MSI1722. He is a powerseller. I don't think he would risk his rep to sell a couple of extra cpus.

Wouldn't it be better to go T9300 instead of T9400? I thought the max speed of the RAM was 800mhz so you would be running 1 to 1 so you can have max efficiency. Or am I just getting my data confused

I only have 100 dollars :( I want to buy one of these though.

What do you think I can get for:

    Intel motherboard
    Pentium 4 3.4ghz
    2x512mb DDR400

Do you think these will still be on ebay this summer?

Dang, this thread is moving fast and growing by 1-2 pages a day, its really hard to sort everything out and I think the more I read the more confused I get.

Memory, Wireless, and Hard drive choice is pretty easy, the problem is with CPU selection. I only have about $100 for the CPU, I am leaning towards a T7300. Would this be my best bet for compatibility and budget?
I see on e-bay they have "SLAMD", "SLA45", and others, of these which s best?

Anyone having problems installing Vista? I am able to complete the install then while I am booting it for the first time and you get that intro screen after a few minutes it logs me off and reboots. Upon reboot it never gets passed the blank screen with the scrolling progress bar. I can't seem to track down the problem.

I haven't decided which processor to upgrade to, so I'm currently using a T5550 and works great.

On a separate note, I was able to find the Hitachi-LG GSA-T50N DVDRW drive recommended for this laptop from " bluekk " in flea bay. I attached the faceplate and works as expected.

You can find a T5550 like the one I'm using in my 1722 for about $50 in flea bay.

so whats the word on tv tuners for this 1722? I recall some folks discussing it, but what models are recommended? I'd like to have something with ATSC and QAM. I saw drivers for K-World models on the MSI site, but ive always heard K-world stuff is junk. Ive seen a few Avermedia models on fleabay, but what are folks using? thx.

This for electrosoft! Thanks for all your information. I had the system set up will all of the memory and I removed one of them and the computer booted. Finally, I am up and running! Getting ready to set-up the bios. So, for all that have the T9400 use one stick of memory and things should work out! I'll keep everyone posted once I am up and running completely!!

    Electrosoft, Thanks!!

Yeah, the laptop should come with a little plastic cover for that hole. I think the whole was intended to whoever built the laptop to be able to put their own logo on there if they wished to do so.

Does it look bad? Also just to confirm, Do all of the 1651 models have those touch keys above the keyboard, they're just not activated without a bios/firmware flash? I know the red one does, but does the gray one?

I am using the latest hybrid thumbdrive tuner from Kworld. The BDA drivers work seemlessly in windows media centre and, although I live in an "outer metropolitan" location, I have perfect reception on every available channel... all necessary accessories included ... attractive design ... excellent build quality ... hardly what I would call "junk".

If i could find a Kworld mini pci tuner, I would be tempted to purchase, however Ive only seen the Avermedia A30x on Ebay. I imagine the Avermedia would work well but its a little expensive for me.

thx for the response duck. I have since contacted Kworld via email and inquiring about the KWorld Digital MC810 mini pci-e tuner card thats listed on MSI site. I will post up once i receive a response. Google came up empty on this while searching around. It seems odd to me that thesee mini pci-e tuners only go to system build companies and arent in the "widespread" wild yet. Any other component of latops can be found; it just strikes me odd.

Good, that means I don't have to buy another processor. I got it today, but don't have any ram yet so I can't test it.

EDIT: BTW, I thought it was interesting how he chose to package the cpu inside of a wooden box.

Man Hawkaroo, turns out my bro had AMD chips.. no good there. You got it to boot anyhow , that is way cool! I tried the one stick first but with pny memory , I dont think it likes it. I ordered some OCZ last week hoping to fix the problem. When you said youhad some and it still didn't work.. that made me nervous.. I didnt know you had not tried the one stick first route... so hope is returning. I think the memory should come today. will post results
