Yes i have bought a T9400 from him. Worked straightaway without the need for a bios update. Original bios was 1.0h.

I am not sure if this has been asked yet, but I was wondering if anyone might know where to get a bezel for the MS-1722 ID1?

Oh, it's been asked. :) Over and over again and it is basically impossible to track one down.

I did find one source for original drives for the 1722's, but they were asking $120 for the DVDRW which really provided me with my laugh of the, well, week and was insane price gouging. They lost a customer over that one and I'll make sure to let friends and family know to avoid them. I won't name them here, but yeah, that was ridiculous.

Go to Newegg and just be happy with the $49.99 Sony SATA slimline drive. It looks well enough and is a great drive.

Installing OSX on anything else besides a Mac is against the Apple TOS, so that can't be discussed here.

Glad to hear to see that finally you will use. On my own, I lost my excitement for 1722 and looking for another laptop.

Wow, usually you lost your excitement that fast or there is something wrong with this laptop?!? I am going to undervolt the CPU, just to see is it possible to save some energy, not stability, because I'll need it for my overclocked GF9600GT wich will become GF9700GT and will take about 45 Watts, instead of 23W. Soon I'll post results of that.

Not really, I am loyal to my laptops but rumours about stolen laptops seems annoying. Also I am tracking another laptop which seems to be better choice.

Yep, most likely your unit will come with the 1.0H which requires an update (newest is still 1.0S with a link on the first entry to this thread), so you will need to get ahold of a compatible, older CPU to at least flash it (Even a T7500 will do and some of the other FSB 800 CPUs).

Well here is an update. I put in a claim against xiaobaiyang2 on paypal. It's pretty bad. The seller has changed the original ad after the claim was posted. And it looked like they changed ads after stating that the chip (T9400) doesn't work in the 1722. Then they changed back and said it does. Be careful on e-bay. I love e-bay but sometimes you do have problems. I purchased a chip from another e-bayed and everything was great.
I know some of you have purchased from the seller, hopefully everything is well. If not put in a claim. It can only help. I'll update again after the resolution.

I ordered a T9600 from a seller in the US. Paid the same amount as the going range for the overseas T9600 chips, but I'm trying to avoid an engineering sample. The one I bought was listed as a SLB47, which should be a production chip with C0 stepping size. If my research was correct I think the newer T9600s will have the E0 step size (sSpec SLG9F). Don't know about the availability of the newer chips.

I'll know for sure in a couple of days when it arrives.

Does it has to be a fsb 800 cpu?
Or will a T9600 does the trick?

Can full size intel 5300 fit in MS-1722 ID2?

I bought a P9600 from him a couple weeks ago for my P-7811FX for about $200 shipped. Got it in about a week and a half and has worked great for me. He always has cheap ES chips, so I added him to my favorite sellers list.

the only problem with him is most of his stuff is a or b1 stepping most of his have the gold die's you DONT WANT THOSE those are for sure not near the qs chips or oem and many of the gold die chips have issues. he does for sure have some good chips but i see he mostly sells the b1 versions of most of his chips

Somebody had a case like this:
When you swich the Turbo on, nothing happens. I'm using Vista Ultimate x64, the turbo icon appears on the screen indicating that is on, but neither CPUz, neither any other program detects that there is an increase of the frequinces. Is it possible this one to be because I've set in BIOS the DDR devider to be 800MHz (3:2), by default, before flashing the latest BIOS it was set to 667MHz (5:4)? Any ideas?

Edit: I'll put this as new thread.

I asked this several pages ago(probably got lost in the shuffle) but was wondering if anyone had taken the wrist rest/kybd cover off of this notebook. I have no idea how its attached dont really see any screws, so are they snapped on? Obviously i want to tread lightly here. Appreciate some help if youve taken it off. Thx.

Look, unfortunately on e-bay it is sometimes buyer beware. He may have good chips. But in my case not so. It is more of a hassle than anything. It was a concern of mine that the notebook was bad. Or memory or HD. But from this great forum, I learned about the es chips and this seller.
What tipped me off was the changing of the ads and some the questions, which was obvious from them or a friend (can't really type english very well).
They may have good chips just be careful. And if all things work out in my favor, I may not give feedback to warn others except on this board.

hey guys ive been following this post from day one, i grabbed myself a 1722, and a T7300 hoping to avoid all of these crazy problems, and then to upgrade from there, sometime between post and delivery of my processor, (An ES version) the posts started to come about with news of ES processors not playing well with the 1722, but i was hopeful until two days ago when i tried it out, and got the same thing as others, no post, lights on, but nothing else indicating something with the processor or bios, has anyone tried out the t7300 series? the other thing im tempted to try is to get some ddr800 ram and give that a whirl, as of right now i only have 667 and 533, ive tried reseating everything, as well as making sure that the processor was secured, everything looks good and basic response is there, especially from the slick touch buttons (i have a ID2 btw), was just wondering, nobody's found a way to tell what bios revision was shipped with the laptop right? i know some companies print that on the board.

I have a t5500 that i bought yesterday so hopefully that one will be the resolution to this weird problem, anyone else try per se the T2310 or the T2330, i have two laptops sitting next to me with both those processors, and am curious to see if anyones had luck, given i tried the T2310 and the laptop didnt like that at all. as for the machine itself if anyone want to know anything about what its actual look and feel is like in person let me know i'll describe it as best i can.

heres the link for the specs of the proc i got.

The ID2 I had came with the 1.0N bios. Have you tried starting it with just the bare essentials? Try one stick of ram, CPU and nothing else. Take out wifi, drive and keep swapping the ram to see if it starts.

ive tried 3 different types of ram, and two different speeds, single and dual channel, i think that this proc is probably bad or since its an ES version the laptop really doesnt like it. the only other socket p laptop that i have has a t2310 in it and ive tried swapping those, neither does anything. i get the same response with the ram in and out, also tried removing the cmos, but no go, ill try the cd rom trick right now, no luck there either, this is breakin my balls having such a nice laptop but it being useless right now.

I installed all these in order:
    intel chipset
    nvidia driver
    realtek audio driver
    realtek network driver
    modem driver
    ENE CIR driver
    card reader driver
    bluetooth driver
    SCM driver
    webcam driver

and everything works fine. But i dont have any options like ive seen people talk about settings for battery life like movie mode, game mode etc etc. Did i miss that part somewhere? Cause id like to make some adjustments while browsing, as of now battery life stinks when browsing with wifi on. Im seeing 1hr26min at full battery. Ive changed nothing in XP settings as far as that power stuff goes. But i dont see the MSI "modes" Throw a fella a bone here please? thanks.

(i know we dont have a ECO button on these 1722) but surely we can change the "modes" some other way right? Is this why i dont see these things?

hawk that could be why it doesnt work. you bought a b1 old stepping version. those had some issues anyway and some people reported bsod's in general with that chip. never buy any chip unless its c0 or newer

even this taken right from extremeprocc ebay page about q4hq "Caution! Don't buy Golden DIE of T9400 Q4HQ ES B1 Stepping

it will has many problem! Like BSOD and very unstable! only C0 Stepping or Later"

that could very well be your issue right there

i gotta say i think that extremeproc dude has the funniest ebay auctions of all, not even taking into account the bad translations, talking about not getting emotional, and how hes a very communications man. that dudes hardcore, wish id seen one of his auctions beforehand so my 1722 wouldnt be a 17 inch paperweight.

    Hi,

I have got everything together and I am very pleased!
After updateing the bios I installed a
    cpu: qx9300
    ram: 8 GB (2x4) Elpidia PC-26400 (400MHz) Timing: 6.0,6,6 18, 24 (fom cpu-z) PC Wizzard Latency: Ram: 127-156 ns
    WLAN: Intel WiMax 5350
    DVD: Slot-In SN T083A
2nd PCIe: Intel Turbo Mem Dashboard (run setup as Vista-32 appl.)
HD: WDC WD3200BJKT-00F4T0 (Western Digital 320GB)
OS: Windows 7 64 bit (8GB are accessible, 4 cores are used)

Acc. to cpu-u the multiplier toggles between 6.0 (1.596GHz) and 9.5 (2.5 GHz)
(I'd like to invite others to perform that same tests to coompare)

But now I have a little problem: the cpu-core temperatures.

There are tow programs showing the temeratures (in Celsius):
    Core Temp and Speed Fan

    Now Core Temp shows at about 1% 'stress' 41°, 36°, 42°, 42°
while Speed Fan shows: 36°, 31°,37°, 37° (the same a PC Wizzard s.b.)

So there is a two differences one between the two programs 5° for all 4 cores. I think this due to an individual translation of the sensors - this does not bother me.

But the second between core 2 and the other three cores - again 5°.
And core 1 is at equal use allwas cooler than core 3 & 4.

My little uneasiness: could I have put the thermal past not equally on my two cores - or is it just because, that the core-internal sensors are not absolutely eqaly adjusted? Anyone who like to share his values with this thread?

There is another program PC Wizzard that run various performance testes.
Unfortunately it says that the 64-bit results "will not be significant (x86-32 instructions)" - anyway.
Under this short-time stress the temp. raises up to 63° (or 58°) - I think it's ok?

Anyway PC Wizzard for my 64-bit Windoes shows an overall global performance test gives :

    Processor Global Performance : 489917,3
    Cache Global Performance : 8418
    Memory Global Performance : 3290
    Video Global Performance : 810
Hard Disk Global Performance : 99

    PC Wizard Rating : 50253.43

The Wiindows 7 Performance index (which is higher and not comparable to the Vista-Index) shows:
    cpu: 7.2
    RAM: 7.2
    Gaphic: 6.2
    Graphic 3D: 5.3
    HD: 5.9

    Have a nice day,
    calli
