Thank you for you reply. I have found a review on newegg.com on GE63VR with the same issue. The guy replaced his laptop with 11% wear against one with 8% wear... MSI is doing a bad job. I think, installing faulty batteries, which a priori have low capacity is not good for customers!!!

Now my 2nd ge73vr has weird fan noises including a loud high pitched noise that occurs randomly in HOTS. Anyone else have this problem?

PSA: The GE73VR is advertised as being VR ready. I can confirm the statement as true. I was fortunately gifted an Oculus Rift as an early Christmas present and it works very well. Using a stand for air flow and CPU under-volt, I have been able to over sample to 1.8 and system temps only reach 71c. The convenience of having a portable system vs tower has really paid off.

I realize as the technology advances the upgrade path is limited but for now is the best. Hook up and run VR then unplug and use it as you would any laptop. ;)

Hi, I have a GE63VR 7RF Raider laptop which I bought it around two month ago, the problem is that the comma key "," does not work when I press its corners, it only work when I press its center, the other keys are fine. Has anybody had such problems? Is there any way that I can fix this?

This question may sound stupid, but I was slightly worried lately as my GPU fan does not spin AT ALL when I'm on AC power browsing the web. I deliberately keep it on (orange light) to get rid of Optimus bugs.
Though when I play demanding games with everything turned to max/ultra, the GPU fan only starts spinning when it hits 60 degrees.
Is this normal? It's quite silly for me to only notice this after more than 3 months of usage, but if my memory doesn't fail me, the GPU fan DID spin before it hit 60 degrees before, but only during gaming sessions.

EDIT: I fixed the "issue" by uninstalling the latest Dragon Center and re-installing the one which came with the laptop. Now the GPU fan properly displays the RPM :)

    Just got a Ge73vr 7rf with gtx 1070.

How can I see my response time for the screen? Is there a menu to see it? I am asking this because there are some ge73vr's with 3 ms response times.

My second question is how can I see which SSD I have? I know it's 128gb but I don't know if it's nvme or sata.

    1) Launch AIDA64, then on the left pane, go to Display, then Monitor and tell us the monitor name or you can just google it to see its specifications

    2) to find out your SSD, go to device manager, under Disk Drives, you would be able to see your SSD Model

Just got my GX63VR from Newegg. Installed the latest GPU drivers but can't seem to get my fps on my games (Dota, PUBG) above 70 fps. This is a 120hz variant. Checked Nvidia Control Panel and it seems to be missing some options. How do I enable them?

Edit: a quick google shows this is normal on an optimus laptop. But I have configured the nvidia 3d settings to use only the gpu on all apps but still getting low fps.

Disabled all battery boost options as well.

Weird seeing the DIrect3D acceleration being not available as well.

edit: Got it to work but still low fps when inside the game. Is this a GPU defect? Or do I need a full reformat?

So far been really enjoying the MSI GE63VR. Took me a bit to really finetune everything though. Audio was sounding a bit unbalanced and seems to really need those Niahmic Software to not sound like it's muffled behind a pillow. But tweaking that so there's bass trebble and voice clarity in all equal amounts made it sound amazing. The screen looks amazing. Definitely one of the nicer screens I've seen, and even if it does have a low brightness compared to others, it doesn't ever really feel that way.

Touchpad was an equal challenge. At first I couldn't really get it so it had some of the features I wanted (like a middle click), and it was a bit hard to actually use for playing games. But I found a way to get it work as a Precision Touchpad, and then adjusted some of the sensitivity settings so it would stop picking up my palm as clicks while typing...while still letting me use it while playing games.

One thing that was a real struggle was actually changing out the hard drive. Getting that bottom panel off felt like I was going to break something.Tip for anyone working on it. Start at a corner, put in a hard thing piece of plastic, and slide it along the side. You should be able to feel/hear the clips pop. Go slow because some of the ports like to cling to the cutouts (nearly through I was going to break the motherboard when I pulled a bit too hard!) At least once you get the bottom panel off, you have pretty much access to everything, and snapping it back on is a piece of cake.

One concern I still have is the M.2 NVME SSD that came with it. It runs blazing fast, but it seems like it's constantly running pretty warm. Around 50C at all times. I haven't really wanted to stress test it, but is anyone else seeing their M.2 drive run rather hot? By comparison, my EVO 850 Sata drive is a chilly 30C most of the time.

Try changing the Preferred Graphics Processor to just the 1070. Globally or for individual applications. I was having that issue with Blade and Soul wanting to use the CPU for graphics for some reason until I manually set it.

Hey I have one question . I have used O&O ShutUp Windows 10 to close Windows Defender but there is one problem now . Which virus software should I use? I have a subscribtion for Zemana AntiMalware Premium , is that good enough? Or should I don't use any virus programs? Can you say me a light one or should I go on with Zemana AntiMalware Premium? Thanks for the answers

Thanks for your answer , as it turns out , my monitor is CMN N173HHE-G32 , so that's 5 ms I think. And my ssd is THNSN5128GPU7 TOSHIBA (119 GB) . I think this is one of the fast ones :3

You can't compare sata drives vs. PCI Express NVMe Drives. They will run hot in thin notebook chassis.
You could run a few tests in a row with ATTO Disk Benchmark and monitor max temp with Hwinfo64. Too hot (normally around 70C) and they will start throttle as Hell in the same way as overheating processors.

That is sad to hear. I also got the GX63VR from newegg but still waiting for it at the end of the year. Maybe the reason the GX63VR are cheaper than regular GE63VR because they have issues?

Can anyone clear up if there are any differences between regular GE63VR VS GX63VR? :( or its just the name hopefully

Hey guys, so i recently got my msi ge63vs raider 075 delivered today through amazon(seller was mobile advance). Has anyone noticed any color difference on the keyboard?. Like when i try putting a steady light blue color on the entire keyboard. i notice the key color is off. the alphabets are a bit off than enter , backspace and the F1,F2 keys. I took a picture but unfortunately , my camera isnt capturing the color issue properly.
Its noticeably off when i see it. like the backspace and enter buttons are the color i chose. the alphabets are more green-ish than blue. Does anyone else has this issue?

Not much difference aside from the storage options and they made it cheaper. Only $1400ish with 256gb ssd and 1tb hdd. Got to fix the direct3d acceleration options now. FPS tests online and benchmark show 120hz but still getting capped at my games. Can't seem to find the solution.

Thanks. I did some small benchmarking on it, and it really only got up to the 60C mark. So it seems pretty stable temp wise at least.

How do I claim rebate if it is declined? for GX63VR (Raider) from newegg

    Status is Declined:
"Required Documentation missing-Original UPC & Serial Number Barcode with QR Code Label/Item Spec Info"

Im pretty sure I attached that documents, I cuted it from the box.

I did exactly the same thing as I did with my GT72S and that was approved...

Not sure what to do since they are asking me to send it to them. But I can't since they already have it.

Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks

So I have this one question , I would be glad if you guys could help .
While using my laptop on idle( by idle I mean not gaming, browsing the web and stuff) , my cpu fan goes a little bit high and then goes down again and then high again and low again. Goes like this. This totally goes away when I use ECO mode, but when I use SPORT mode or COMFORT mode it happens and it kinda annoys me , not a problem while using headphones but when I am not using headphones I am just keeping it on ECO mode to not hear it .
I have tried turning off cpu-c states but that did not solve anything .
I would really want some help on this. Thanks.

Edit: Oh , and I just noticed that the fans are pretty high when Windows is opening and then it goes down . And I noticed another thing too, in ECO mode fans never kick expect Windows opening part which I think it is because MSI DragonCenter is not loaded yet. Correct me on this one if I am wrong.

Edit 2: I have founded it , I have found the problem but not the answer. The fans are low on ECO mode because the CPU GHz does not go more than 1.39 GHz( as I saw from intel XTU) . While I am using Sports or Comfort Mode the fans don't kick in when I do nothing . But wheb I start opening youtube or websites the CPU GHz starts going up and that's why fans kick in. Any solution for this?

First, monitor your temperatures. Then you can adjust your fan speed curve to not spin up as fast, given that your temps aren't abnormal. If your temps are a little high, then repaste with good thermal paste.

Yeah I have looked upon on that . Well I went to advanced and closed the fans and while using youtube the temperatures go up to 73 degrees but at least I get no noise . Should I use my laptop like that or should I open up the fans? The part I do not understand is why my GHz goes up 3.5 while browsing the web or watching youtube? It goes like this: 3.5 GHz and then goes down 0.9 GHz and then goes back up to 3.4-3.5 GHz and then goes to 2.0 GHz . It always jumps up and down . Do I have a faulty product? I am not an expert but I think something like 2.7 , 2.8 GHz will be enough for these tasks and it will help keeping the laptop cooler .

Thanks I will look into this . Can I do different power options for every applications I have? I discovered that when I do my highest processor state to %99 I get 2.8 GHz max , when I do that %90 I get 2.5 GHz . I want to do a power setting for every application I have . So for an example while using Google Chrome I do not want more than 2.8 GHz but when I play overwatch ( I am trying 2.5 GHz now ) it seems enough and I get low temperatures thanks to it .

No, but you can put up 4 different power profiles. Switch between them on the fly with a simple key command. Read you up on the guide. You can ask or find more info in
The ThrottleStop Guide thread in the forum.

Thanks for the help , I will look into this. I have one last concern though . It is not about these but maybe you know the way . My keyboard gets a little bit too hot? Is that normal? While the gpu and cpu is at 65-70 degrees part using the left side of the keyboard ( wasd part ) gets hot . Its not like hand burning hot but it is hot in some kinda way . My last laptop ( Asus GL502VS ) was reaching 95 degrees on CPU but the wasd part was cooler than this. I do not know if this is normal because I do not have any other of the same pc around me but I just wanted to ask .

Read the review MSI-GE73VR-7RF-Raider . You will have to expect more heat the thinner the laptop is. It's by design. Better thermal paste will maybe help.

Just did a repaste of thermal paste and pads ytd. Used kryonaut and gelid thermal pads 1mm. Temps so far arnt that good :( they went up about 5-7 degrees

I have a feeling its either the thermal pads arnt dont properly or the paste isnt spread properly

I tink ill be doing a repaste next month. Just ordered some k5 and will be getting some gelid extreme
