i was reading your posts about that. I've had simalar events with other laptops with gpu driver crashes and/or blue screens. This time, nothing like that happens.

Is the windows event viewer is real time monitoring.

How long did you send your to Eurocom. I want to use this laptop for business but havent set it up yet. I might have to do the same, RMA it.

The keyboard does not come off, you will have to completely tear it down to get to the 2 memory slots under it.

Does the game simply close, or does the whole system lock up?

There are quite a few steps, but doable:

    Replacement screws research update:
    - Bottom Panel Screws - http://www.laptopscrews.com/M2x6.htm
    - Heatsink Screws (Small) - http://www.laptopscrews.com/M2x4.htm
    - Heatsink Screws (Medium) - http://www.laptopscrews.com/M2x5.htm
    - Fan Screws - http://www.laptopscrews.com/M2x5.htm
    - HD Bay Screws (Small) - http://www.laptopscrews.com/M1.6x3.htm
    - HD Bay Screws (Medium) - http://www.laptopscrews.com/M2.5x4.htm < (Not 100% on this one)

Upon further review the only ones I really NEED to replace are:
    - Bottom Panel Screws
    - Heatsink Screws (Small)

All the other screws look like they are stainless steel.

With Total war rome 2, it locks up and I cant get back into the game, with War thunder, the game blacks out and I can go back into it. Other games they all black out but without any drivers kernal reset message.

Could it be the processor, I just changed it yesterday. I have the laptop running memtest86 for about an hour, so errors so far.

Are you using max fans? Are you undervolted on the CPU and if so how much? If not try a -150mV undervolt and see if that helps.

I mostly use auto fans but the temps are in the 70s so that is not an issue. For undervolt I tried -.160 and .-150 mv and still does it.

I remember never have these issues with the i7 6700 when playing games.

when the memory test is over i will play a game or two and see that event viewer, maybe it will say something.

Try window's reliability monitor. Right click entries under "Critical events" -> view technical details.

Do you have g-sync on by the way? Try turning it off if you do.

I had same exact problem as you. I haven't gotten any problems since this solution.

    -1st, turn g sync off,
(if you really want something like that, v sync in the game menu will be almost same thing.)

-2nd, turn the power option to high performance whenever you wanna play a game
(I turn it to balanced for less heat when I'm not gaming)

-3rd use Msi afterburner to monitor temps in game of CPU and if it reaches 90c it starts to stutter so turn on coolerboost
(You could also undervolt the CPU using xtu and CPU probably won't reach so high. Also, Msi dragon center you can set custom fan profiles so it auto cools CPU down to certain temps. And one more thing monitor the gpu temps as well but I usually don't have problems with this as v sync keeps its workload minimum)

G-Sync seems to be fixed in this newest driver. Tested BF1, BF4 and both game had the same weird result.

G-Sync on in Nvidia Control Panel and V-Sync set to let app decide.

In game it will limit to 63hz (my refresh rate) but I get screen flickers and hardcore stuttering. Turn on V-Sync in game and bam the game is very smooth, but not vsync smooth. It doesn't introduce the input lag, is perfectly smooth like a gsync experience, and screen flickering and stuttering are totally gone.

I had g-Sync off but I'll try high performance on also

I just dont understand all of these issues on a brand new laptop. For the past 8 years I have only bought used laptops.

    G-Sync should be renamed g-$hit

G-Sync has worked flawlessly for me for the past year I've had it, and only in the last couple of months did it just start having issues on laptops. My desktop works fine, but it seems laptops still have issues that need resolved.

What was the graphics score? Also, isn't that video the same one as Eurocom's...?

Yeah, g-sync is pretty buggy. I wonder if other people besides us have run into this issue, or if it is specific to this notebook model.

G-$hit was off and high performance seems to be doing the trick. I just played battlefield 1 without any issues for about an hour.

I will now try with Total war rome 2.

I guess with total war rome 2 its doing the same thing.

That was excatly what I was after since it's the older model 16L11 I was under the impression you can't go Pascal....but I guess I was wrong if the OP has a 1060 working in he's machine.

1070 & 1080 are out of the question tho right. Because of physical limitations?

Tempted to jump on an older MSI barebone, buit the MXM cards available are so salty you are better off bying a new laptop with a 1060.

@eurocomsupport received my laptop last week Thursday and according to the support update log on their website, they didn't start working on it until Monday. According to the most recent log entry today, they replaced the GPU, ran benchmarks, and listed it as being stable.

I'm glad that they were able to pick up the errors when they ran their tests but if it was the GPU that caused it then that would mean the first two GPU's I had were faulty. Either 3 things - I somehow screwed up the replacement card they had sent me when I swapped it out, I was just that unlucky of having 2 hardware fail in a row, or maybe it's something on the motherboard that's causing the card to fail eventually.

I will also ask for a RMA. I changed the processor back to the normal one and still get random freezes. Never had a laptop get an RMA so new, only 1 month old.

For a GTX 1070 at stock, you should be getting ~17.5K graphics score in Firestrike.

Nice, looks good. Can you answer questions about the unlocked bios update? I don't mean to be impatient but you posted that laptops are shipping with it now. When will it be released, is it going to include overclocking options and fan rpm control? Thank you, and this laptop is really great! :)

They might have had ShadowPlay on, which would result in a lower score.

    With my overclock (+225 Core/+500 Mem), I get ~19K.

Undervolted the CPU by .06 volts and runs 15c cooler and doesn't start stuttering with auto fans after playing gta 5 for a while.

Have a request for anyone with BF1 or BF4.

Can you please install the latest Nvidia drivers, turn on G-Sync in control panel, leave the v-sync option to let the app decide and launch the game. In the game leave v-sync option off and let me know your results. I am trying to determine if I am the only one who is experiencing this issue or if it is driver related.

Issues I experience are faint screen flickering/flashing, and terrible stuttering and FPS fluctuations up and down from 60fps. Obviously the 1070 should be able and can maintain 60fps on max settings and 150% resolution scale, but when this combination is used it causes the issue. Seems to be with every driver I've tried lately. If I turn v-sync on in game the issues immediately go away and the game runs smoothly at 60fps. Turning off g-sync and the game runs smooth above 60fps but with some tearing obviously.

I just want to determine if its my monitor/g-sync implementation or not.

I have a particular issue in my case, where my FPS are worse with vsync off. But I don't have battlefield 4. I do experience lower fps and stutter though. Particularly noticeable in Alien Isolation where it drops from 120fps locked vsync, to 83fps and stutter with vsync off.

I use -.160 and have never had an issue. It's my daily driver and has yet to crash my system or cause any stability issues. This keeps my voltage in games around 1.1v and temps are very good. -.150 should be a starting point for all and then work up or down as YMMV.

I am hoping Eurocom releases the BIOS with voltage and CPU controls. Having voltage and CPU controls via the BIOS is something I really want to see.

Can anyone compare the 16L13 to the Clevo P650RS? I know it's about 0.5" thicker and 1-2 lbs heavier. What other differences would one notice? Maybe in terms of fan noise and heat. I know it is a higher performing machine and has socketed benefits :)

EDIT @Donald@HIDevolution - are you guys offering the 16L13 at some point? Not that I would trade up soon. :)

I'm too poor to own both notebooks

I see the problem, I didn't even have to join a game. If you have G-sync ON and V-sync OFF, you will get a very faint flickering. I can reproduce this issue.

As for your performance issue, BF1 will stutter if you run with an uncapped framerate. The devs have even admitted this, and they even patched in a framerate limiter in the options menu. The settings which seem to work for me are:

    In game:
    V-sync OFF
    Framerate limited: Monitor refresh rate

    Nvidia control panel:
    Gsync ON (fullscreen mode)
    Vsync ON
    Maximum pre-rendered frames: 2

I want a 17 inch screen + 6700k + 1070 for about 1700-1800 usd. I can't find one. that clevo you linked got the 6700hq and 17 inch. F5 has everything but is only 15.6. laptops that have what I want are all around 2000 usd. man, a simple screen increase up the price of the laptop by 400-500$. about 33% of the original laptop price. it can't be that expensive to up the screen size. there are dirt cheap non gaming 17 inch laptops.

so did some game run, The crew Ultra preset, 1080p, v-sync off. g-sync on, laptop in balance mode and gaming in TS.
let it run for around 1.30hrs unfortunately itts so slow over teamviewer that i coudnt get 1st mission done so i pause it and let it sit there.
not bad temp since its auto fan, my brother sitting beside it claims it very silent. also he put it on the sofa so below area is covered too.

For what it's worth, if this machine came in a 17" (using the GT73 chassis perhaps) but with an LGA processor instead of the 6820hk BGA, I would buy it immediately. The GT73 has surpassed my expectations, even with the soldered processor, but I would always prefer socketed if given the choice. Judging by the overclocking I've done with the 6820hk, the cooling in the GT73 is plenty adequate for a 6700k at stock clocks.
