Yeah, I am surprised MSI decided to offer so many SKU's, and downgraded other specs. This made the 570M far more affordable, and I can't imagine why anyone would now buy a 560M model. Unless they lower prices of current models, I think it's probably 'Goodbye GT780R', and 'Hello GT780DXR'. I am paying a little more ($104.00), but not nearly the $300+ I expected.

Paladin, what adress to i send the spec and info to to get it appraised and shipping cost info and all that.
I found how to check the toll price that will be taken here in sweden.
Edit: Also forgot to ask, if i order it to get it imported in sweden, will it come with a US or swedish keyboard? and if it comes with a US keyboard, how much will a replacement one cost me? -
This MSI program automatically arrange how much can we overclock??

But I've had the use of the unit for the previous six weeks.... I'm only faux-whining.

That would give all prospective buyers a fair comparison. I strongly believe that 570M should be 15%(at base clock both) to 35%(over clocked both) faster than 560M.

I would love to but Striker already posted the comparison here:

BRB....... (searching)......
EDIT:
Ok, I could not find a screenshot of 3DMark Vantage for the 560M, stock hardware, release drivers, and no OC...... however, these can be seen in both Ken & Donald's GT780R videos. Ken's video reports an 'out-of-the-box' Vantage score of P9267, while Donald's video reports a score of P9338. NoteBookCheck reports a score of 9314, HERE!
An average of these three 560M scores would be 9306. For the purposes of comparison, I'll consider this a 'stock' baseline for the 560M.
The same conditions (stock notebook, release driver, with no OC) for the 570M, resulted in the following Vantage score:
I hope this helps......

I have some questions regarding the gtx 570m. So the vids that Ken made showed an overclocked gtx570m however the laptop was a gt683dxr. so will the benchmarking for the gt780dx be relatively higher due to the shader and overlooking features? Also someone mentioned the driver updates that should also increase the graphics card performance. Also last question, is the tool Ken used to overclock the graphics card Msi Afterburner? Isn't that also free to download and really easy to use? Sorry if the questions are very amateurish I'm new to the gaming pc world and unsure on these type of things.
-
@GenTechPC: Sweet, thanks for the screenshots. About 1k more stock GPU score than the 470m... about what had had to be expected.
I wonder whether it also allows a slight voltage increase like the 470m, what does GPU-Z report for the 3d voltage? Any chance you could dump and upload the VBIOS, I'm curious.... -
Hello Striker,
For OCD 570M the CPU score is 42035 while for OCD 560M the CPU score is 17710. I see there is 21%(approximately) difference in GPU score.
Overall 3D vantage score difference 570M OCD 12536 vs 560M 9668 is almost 30% which can certainly be attributed due to difference in CPU.
Cheers -
Oops~ I'm sorry I thought the 2200+ 3dmark was for 570m didn't look properly, a bad habit of mine XP

Currently, the GTX 570M drivers will be an older 'release' version (268.90), and support for this GPU is not yet included in the latest Verde program driver package (280.26). Shortly, within the next update or two, the 570M will be added to this driver package. When this occurs, the 570M's drivers should be optimized for performance and gaming profiles, and benchmarking scores should look even nicer than we are currently seeing. Exciting stuff!
Yes, the OC tool Ken was using is MSI AfterBurner, it's easy to use, and info and downloads can be found HERE!
-
I can't wait to get my hands on a 570m.
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Also, the 570M score seen above (P12536) is not OC'ed. Take a look at the clocks again...... that's 'stock', and the OC'ed 570M score was actually P16092..... seen HERE! A HUGE gain!
EDIT: All I am finding related to HIGH CPU scores in 3DMark Vantage, is quotes like this from the FutureMark forums:
KEN? Whoopsie Daisy!
GEEZ! I'll run 3DMark Vantage & 3DMark11 when I get my DANG unit, LOL! Mine won't be exactly 'stock', but I'll run them anyway, both with and without OC.
-
The latest driver will improve performance however, the current version from nVidia does not support 570M, future release version will support 570M.
Sounds like you are going to do BIOS-level overclocking?
I'll see if I can find other screenshots without PhySx.
But you can still compare the 3DMark11 score between 570M and 560M. -
Maybe THX will be useful if playing back through a 5.1 speaker system, or playing BD movies, but otherwise does no seem to be very effective. -
Just received mine yesterday, w00t! \o/
Does anyone know how to remove/auto-hide that annoying S-Bar at the top of the screen? I don't mind its functions, but they could have made that Star symbol a bit less big. Or that it's only visible when you move your mouse cursor over that area. -
Ken on the Crysis 2 video (the one you didn't make
). We're you using DX11? The new patch recently arrived and it would make a big difference performance wise if you did.

I decided to pull the trigger on a 683DXR. NewEgg shipped it last night, and it will arrive Monday morning.

However don't wait, because the pre-order line is already pretty long and these will probably be sold out before the first shipment arrives.
We can offer an upgraded screen, if you would call it that...I personally would stay with the standard Matte screen unless you really want glossy. It doesn't make any sense to "upgrade" the Matte screen...call me and I will explain why. -

Is this in stock anywhere right now?

They will begin shipping to resellers next week, and then we will be able to do our own testing to be able to answer questions from first hand experience. -

I have a 780R and out of the blue, the laptop is now not charging. It gives the plugged in, not charging message. I rebooted just to see if that could fix it, but nothing yet. Any suggestions on how/what to try to fix this??

Thanks for replying. Will wait until you recieve the laptop before asking again. Question though: Any reason why you don`t have Crucial M4 as an option when customizing the DXR? And can you get the 95% gamut matte screen that the folks at Sager choose for their laptops? Cheers
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
There are no 95% Matte screens for 17.3", only for 15.6".
We can get any SSD you want...just ask -

You know, I logged into the forum today, and the first thing I see, is a PM from a party who will remain nameless (unless they care to respond), that read:
Without proper facts, you wrongfully accuse Ken of being a liar, falsifying videos (using the work of others), glory seeking, and you entirely attack his credibility and ethics.
Sorry Donald, but you have wrongfully siezed the moment here. And for what..... all because he failed to turn off PhysX? Carpe Diem! I guess it's entirely impossible he could have made a simple mistake?
TRUTH IS, I know for a fact Ken simply made a mistake with PhysX, and I missed it too. You can gloat and spank us both for that, but this is no need to publicly attack another competitor in open forum.
You see, two nights prior to Ken posting the screenshots or videos, I was personally in video conference with Ken. I know for a fact he had a unit in hand. I know for a fact he created those videos, and I know for a fact, he created those screenshots. As a matter of fact, I had those screenshots in my possession that very evening, but I was asked to not post anything, which I complied. He tested the unit hurriedly, and could not release the information without proper permissions.
Now that you know some of the facts Donald, I have a few questions for you. Will you now call me a liar? Will you now attempt to salvage your pride, or do what's right? Will you now seek to have moderators delete these post? OR, will you be man enough to admit you ASSUMED here, and offer Ken a proper apology, and if so, do so as publicly as you accuse him? WE will see, and ALL will be watching since you have made your false perceptions so public here.
Another truth! I have known Ken personally for several years now, and he is without a doubt, one of the most honest persons I know in this industry. This is why my business has since gone in his direction, and why I support his business.
This is very disappointing Donald, and I certainly hope you will make this right soon.
On a final note here, I am sure Ken will have some better 570M Vantage scores for us soon!

Sorry but just a question, will plugging in 4 sticks of Ram be faster than 2 sticks of Ram? as in will 2 dual channel be twice as fast as 1 dual channel?
-
Oh this thread is going some where else
Back to GT780 /DXR -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
WOW! Agreed! LOL!
Donald can spin this as he likes, but that doesn't take away from what I witnessed. I suppose he thinks that was video magic too, and that I was decieved!
Think what you like Donald, but waging a smear campaign against your competitor is highly inappropriate here. Regardless what you have to say...... it's very clear you are attacking Ken here in open forum, and this tactic is very unseemly. Sorry, but you'll get no apology from me, and I don't think you really thought this manuver through. Up until this point, I assumed you had better business sense. I guess I was wrong.
Good luck with this Donald! Now do you suppose we can move on without further attacks now? YOU started this, and I think any sane person would recommend Ken stay removed from YOUR rant.
I am DONE with this now. Can we please just stay on topic here, and get back to the GT780R/GT780DXR?
GEEZ!

1) "How good is new MSI 780GTDXR".
2) " IS there any throttling issues as reported by notebookcheck with new 180W power brick?"
3) If the vantage score reported with OCD 570M really affects frame rates in GPU demanding games like Metro and Crysis 2. Are they playable at full HD albeit less aggressive settings? If yes then what is the optimal setting for 570M?
4) GT780 had extremely good thermal cooling. Is it the same on DXR models with slightly higher TDP GPU?
5) Are those ugly issues related to keyboard gone? Has MSI really done something about it?
6) How about the sensitivity of the touchpad?
7) Add anymore questions here?
I know these questions can be best answered by people who have got their notebooks and have evaluated it over a period of time but still let us do not forget about these issues.
8) THE MOST IMPORTANT:
Don´t accuse each other for trivial stuff.
-
I have to say this thread has turned rather salty. As an outside party looking in, I'd be rather interested in seeing the MSI Marketing videos now.
I'll have to take a gander around the net. -
Well, the card is almost identical to the 470m, so I guess the VBIOS allows a slight voltage increase. I'm curious... if I knew the voltage it runs at and could get my hands on the VBIOS, then it should be possible to figure out whether the VBIOS allows a voltage increase or not.
The 470m was fun for overclocking, the 570m should have even more headroom....
