Please post your findings!!
and can you take a photo of the BACK of the keyboard, the model number stickers, etc...? -
I have a new GT780R, US spec as supplied by GentechPC.
I had a clean Windows 7 ultimate install and all works well, but...
I lost the equalizer and effects tab in the sound card manager. They were there when I first got the machine, but I had to add some of the MSI drivers etc. (THX, CinemaPro etc.) and now I no longer have the options.
Searching general forums etc. it seems that I maybe should never have had this option as Realtek took it out for Vista/Win7. But it was there, I didn't imagine it! I did not update the realtek driver (at least knowingly), but the version I had when I noticed the loss is 6.0.1.6353 for the audio driver.
Any ideas how I might get it back? -
Well:
The Good News:
Lag/Missing Keystrokes fixed
The Bad:
Up Arrow is not that smooth
Lightning is the same as before ie dim from middle
You have to open the back lid ie break your warranty sticker to change the keyboard :S

If the "new" then there is nothing different except the serial # and the inspection items. I was expecting the model/part # to be a different version... -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
No, it won't be a different model or part number. What they have done is put all the keyboards through another test cycle, and culled the bad ones.
-
-
In any case I reloaded the driver from the msi site, but this did not chnage any of the versions.
Should I be able to get the equalizer? -
Could you take a picture of the keyboard with the lights so we can see how it is? Thanks -

Has anyone had issues with the microphone quality (built-in)?
I've tried to adjust all obvious settings, but when I'm in a Goto Meeting, etc... the built in microphone is very faint. I have to 1/2 close the lid to bring the microphone very close to me to be able to speak.
I know an external mic would work better, but it seems odd the internal mic would be so faint.
Any others?
Thanks! -

Internal mic's are known to be faint. External mic or headset is the way to go.
In over 12 years in this business I have never experienced what you would call a good internal mic. -
Greetings g780 owners/speculants
My name is demon2k3 and i'm looking to buy a new laptop to replace my current acer extensa 7620 which is getting rather old by now for the games i'm interested in. I'm also a student , but got a job this summer to fund this purchase.
So what i wonder, what should i be looking at to fullfill my study/gaming needs. The line of study doesn't require any graphics heavy stuff , i study social work, but a full version of word has to be part of it.
So, around what translates into 1.6-2k dollar range, what you suggest me getting, i've been looking at the customized and i'm really tempted to get a MSI GT780DXR, but they do not sell those here in sweden yet. Those i can purchase from, do they ship to sweden currently? Also if i was to order i am aware of shipping and taxes, how much would the price rise due to those?
Sorry for the many questions, but it's between this and the Asus, and this looks like the more solid machine. -
Hey paladin44, I wanted to know if you're able to configure the gt780dx so I could get a glossy screen, and a different video card.
The video card is not that big of an impact, wanted to be able to use a big screen with the laptop once in awhile, and I've heard the nVidia GeForce GTX 570M won't have the best quality because of the memory.
Right now I'm looking around to where I wanted to buy from, which in the first week or second week of September I'm purchasing this laptop, and needed to get some info from resalers.
This is the first time buying a laptop (Never even purchased a desktop) so I'm starting to learn more about internal hardware, sorry if they're a stupid question. lol -
Will there be a review for GT780DXR??
-
Does anyone get the realtek equalizer under a "normal" MSI install? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
@ Demon2k3
There are no taxes collected here in the US for shipments to Sweden, so you would have to contact your Customs Office to see what they will collect.
As for shipping costs, please submit your specifications to PowerNotebooks.com and we can then quote them for you. Shipping costs depend on the weight and size of the box, the value for insurance, and the exact destination including your Postal Code. -

Hi guys, here is some GTX570M benchmarks with overclocked and 2 game videos I made, enjoy

wow. stock in already ??
-
I just did a quick bench of my 485m and compared the 3DMark Vantage / 3DMark 11 scores of it to the scores in Ken's video for the 570m. The 570m scored 2000+ points higher in Vantage, and was a dead match in 11, when compared to Ken's scores. I realize the 570m was overclocked in Ken's video. I ran the 485m at stock.
I'd say it's a keeper! -
to be honest with you I didn't expect GTX570M can be overclocked this high. I was only expecting 2700~2800 on 3Dmark 11, that's the score I tested on 560M with i7-2920CPU, 1600Mhz RAM and latest driver at the time. And I got 3146 on 570M.
On Vantage I only expect around 14000 but I got 16000, so when I see the score I was like: Okay, that's not too bad at all.
The AC adapter is 180W, it's huge and I got a picture of it compare with 150W adapter next to it:Attached Files:

Very NICE Ken! Thanks for the new INFO! The GTX 570M is looking very good indeed!
In the AC adapter comparison pic, is that a soda can, or a BEER can?

BTW, I almost forgot Ken...... did you take any screen shots of the benchmark results, and if so, could you please post the pics here?
Thanks!

Sorry but to all the laptop professionals out there, can anyone of you go into the trouble to post the 3dmark scores you got with GTX560m and 570m side by side? I think that'll make it easier for a lot of people XP
-

For comparison to initial (or first) benchmarking of the GTX 560M, I offer the following:
560M GPU-Z with release driver (ForceWare 268.12):
3DMark Vantage with OC, release driver:
3DMark11 without OC, release driver:
3DMark11 with OC, and modded ForceWare 275.33 driver:
Again, scores improved considerably when the 560M was added to NVIDIA's Verde program updates...... the first of which was the 275.55 Beta, and the same improvements will be expected as this occurs for the 570M.
I hope this helps......
-
I just got 9622 on Vantage with the GT780R - 560M. So yes the OC on the 570M makes it much faster.
-
Wow~ that was fast, thank you so much -=$tR|k3r=-!!!
-
Hmm~ so comparing initial drivers for GTX560m and GTX570m the difference is about 10%? I was hoping it would be over 20% like it says on Nvidia's website XP. And is it possible to unlock 570m's cuda cores using the method here?

Here are both cards OC'ed, and both using intial release drivers.....
560M OC'ed:
570M OC'ed: (and take note how much Ken was able to OC the card with AfterBurner)
I'm sold!
-
-
Ya the jump is huge, almost double when OC'd. It looks like the 570 is turning out to be a beast.
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Beast? Same thing Ken said, LOL!
280.26 is now available Here!
-
Snooze you win... I just configured the new 570M machine just like my 560M... was about $40 cheaper. Shoulda waited
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Yep, that's why I immediately sold my GT780R..... saw this coming as soon as I was informed about the 570M.
-
The 570M is an overclockers paradise because the GPU is low clocked and therefor rely on the amount of cores.
560M is clocked at 775MHz and the shaders at 1550MHz. 570M however is only clocked at 575MHz while the shaders at 1070MHz. 570M is better because of 336 cores vs 560M with 192 cores.
So all in all you have a lot of headroom to overclock the 570M.
@KenLee: The moment is soon here. Have you experienced more fan activity with the DXR version compared the the 560M version? -
