Thanks everyone for your input! I forgot to mention that the windows 7 install disk did allow me to raid with 2 x 640gb WD Blues and also was able to run Raid 0 with the two Vertex 3 MAX IOPS, but after it started hanging in windows, I had to do a hard boot and when it showed the screen with the "Ctrl I" the screen shows one of the drives had an error. I did another fresh install in Raid 0 and same thing. I updated to FW 2.11 for the OCZ and now I cannot install at all. Wondering if anyone knows if I update to that new bios everyoneis talking about, do you guys think it'll help?

Also I will try all the suggestions you guys provided and see if I can fix the trackpad/typing issues. Otherwise I do love this machine! I ran crisis 2 with the dx11 updates and showed it off to my friend and since I was on battery power, it stuttered like no tomorrow..(low FPS). When I went home and tried it again with the adaptor plugged, all was well again.

Thanks again to everyone who replied. I'm going to see if I can fix the trackpad now. I am also going to return the 2 VERTEX 3 Max IOPS as I figure I paid a 1/3 of what i did for my GT780R and I feel these issues should not arise, but I guess it is the nature of the beast. I'll hold off till something better/faster comes out. In the meantime my Intel 320 120GB drive will do. :)

No, there is no GT683R/GT683DXR Owner's Lounge at the moment, but since YOU are now an Owner, why don't you start the thread?

    Good Luck!

Just to report back, the fix for the trackpad decreased the sensitivity for me. :D The jumping so far seems to be working well! Thanks....It 'm glad I don't need any RMA's done as I really love my GT780R so far. Had an Asus G74SX for a day and had nothing but headaches from attaching a stupid little cable that activated the second hard drive. Ended up that the locking mechanism was defective. The poor customer service that I kept getting from ASUS was enough for me to return the unit. They wanted me to send the unit back to them so they could give me a new sata atttachment. I only had it for 2 hours  Anyways I went to another store and bought this right away! Was really terrified at first as I read alot on this forum and many issues in terms of loose cables etc... When I opened the box and fired her up...No dead pixels or any issues at all except the typing issue which I hope is fixed as it seems to be working fine now. I think this looks WAY better than the G74sx imo. :D

Anyways, just reporting back as everything seems to be working out after the fix for the trackpad.

One final question...Since I upgraded the SSD and the warranty sticker is broken, As per MSI techs, they said I still will have FULL warranty EXCEPT on the HDD's as I replaced it with SSD's. They said they weren't so stringent on the warranty stickers like other companies and that I shouldn't worry about it as I will have every under warranty except for the HDD's. Can anyone else confirm?

Whell. i live in denmark, and the warrenty sticker dosent mean anything here in denmark, we can do what we want, take out hdd's and stuff, replacing ram, or even clean the fan, we still have warrent, i think other countries may lose warrenty, but not sure

Msi policy says no warranty loose if you remove the sticker.
You loose the warranty if you make some damages or if you remove the stickers on the graphic card.

I'm having horrible trouble with horizontal lines across the screen in dark areas and while playing games.
its more noticeable when cinemapro is on and brightness is high.

    BUT IT IS ALWAYS THERE!

    and it looks disgusting.

how can I get rid of it?

    i've tried uninstalling cinema pro.

It's there even using other operating system!

Your screen sounds damaged, shouldnt have anything to do with the OS or even cinema pro. Might need to RMA.

Mine is always like that when playing Minecraft, but I haven't seen it anywhere else. It may be a rendering issue with the GPU.

It could either be the GPU's drivers or possibly just bad coding from Minecraft's end in the rendering department. It doesn't really bother me unless I get really close to the screen anyways.

They should be available in the eu in the next week or 2. Remember if you purchase from the USA you will only get 1 year international warranty and if you purchase in the EU you will get the standard 2 year warranty.

To CopyCatDk, you can also complete a rma directly through MSI under MSI global, if needed, it doesn't have to be the retailer.

The order was time sensitive (college in a few weeks). I was looking for one with a more powerful graphics card but I couldn't find one. If I was on the forum sooner I definitely would have taken into consideration the upgraded graphics card in a few weeks, o well, thats life.

When you press the "Turbo" button (P1 on the GT780) that tool is activated. There are no changes you can make, it is pre-set.

Seems like I'm not the only one experiencing these horizontal lines on the screen. I contacted xoticpc about this but haven't received a reply after sending in some pictures last Thursday they requested so they could compare it on another gt780r.

I'm positive, though, that this is an issue with the screen and not a matter of bad drivers as I've tested the laptop on several external monitors already. None display these horizontal lines even when extremely closely inspected.

I upgraded to the glossy screen. I will never go back to the matte screen, however i dont take my laptop outside so i can not give a view on the sun lighting and what not. However in house and everything looks much crisper, the graphics seem more vivid. I am happy to have tried it out, i dont notice any glare when the lights are in the house.

Fair enough, it's just that it was my understanding that the matte screen was one of the strong buying points of the MSI compared to most of the other makers.

I cannot comment one way or the other because I have never owned any type of laptop and this is why I'm curious as to which way to go?

    Cheers,

There are two camps...one that loves Matte and the other loves Glossy, so there is no "right" answer because it is purely a personal choice.

Thanks for the reply, I need a little bit of a push to help me decide on Matte or Glossy.

I will be in touch real soon, I have just been waiting for the release of this latest model.

I would strongly advise you to go to your local shop to compare matte and glossy screen. This way you can have a real feel of how it will look like.
I dont think any of display set will be 90% gamut screen, but you should still be able to get a good feel about the glare and reflective-ness of the screen.

For me, I prefer matte screen much more than glossy. Used to own a glossy compaq laptop (HP's brightview or something ??), and somehow i am not happy with both reflective and color reproduction of the screen. It was tolerable at first, but once I look at dell's M6500 screen (matte) I realized how awful it was. I immediately sold the compaq off.

80% of reason why im getting an MSI is because of the matte screen :)

Yes a wise suggestion and I will certainly have to have a closer look around the stores to get a better idea of what they truly look like..

Depends if you take your laptop outside or not, Iceflare16 doesn't but if your office or your family room with huge window behind it where you sitting then you might want to get a matte screen.

I have a question to guyes from xoticpc and powernotebooks.
Do you ship your notebooks to Europe (for example to Poland)?
It would be nice if you have such a possibility...
I'm asking because your notebooks are customizible and this a good thing.

Glad you received it. if you don't feel comfortable swap the keyboard yourself you can take it to Jeddah office in Saudi Arabia and they will do it for you.

MSI already made arrangement so they will be expecting you. :)
