Ummmmmm...... I am not sure you fully understood the message within my post. I went through all of his post (both NBR & MSI) to get a feel for the situation. After looking at the chain of events, it became rather apparent that the problems did not rest solely on the shoulders of the reseller.

I was not trying to advocate for either party, but rather attempting to encourage he move forward to resolution..... rather than repeated complaints here in this forum. Here, he is 'preaching-to-the-choir' as WE are not the solution. I felt certain if Justin became involved, this would be helpful in moving him forward.

If shin777 is willing to be cooperative, hopefully an RMA (with Justin's help) will return him to a happier place.

    Thanks Justin!

    :)

I don't think so, this CPU is not overclockable...

The thing about sandy-bridge is that now, a lot of stuff is now directly connected to the CPU, so if you OC the CPU, you end OC'ing other stuff too, and thats not what we want... you may end damaging HDD or RAM...

That said, this is the main reason that now intel sells "K" labeled CPUs, these models has unlocked multiplier, so they can be OC'ed without changing the base clock and without damaging the other components...

And sorry for my bad english :p hope this explanation is understandable, i had to shrink a lot of important stuff about sandy's architeture

no, they can't, unless intel decides to launch a CPU with unlocked multiplier - but i think it's unlikely, because of the thermal issues OC'ing a CPU can bring

Also, i just remembered, if a laptop comes with a mobile version of Z68 chipset, we may be able to OC the CPU without owning a "K" labeled CPU

    Ok I see :)
Still, have you notified MSI about it?

Intel's Turbo Boost - it automatically overclock the CPU while running high demanding processes

If the process is single-core only, it OCs only 1 core, if it's a multithread application, then it will OC all cores, of course, all of this in a acceptable thermal range, even this way, the CPU may suffer throttling - and this happens often when the laptop has a bad design

So, when I checked Chinese barebone notebook forum, I found one of Chinese vendor will have barebone version of GT780r by the end of July? According to their information, it will have backlit keyboard, same as GT780r, named MSI 1761. Is that true? Any news from our vendor?

The link of MSI 1761: http://benyouhui.it168.com/thread-1690404-1-1.html

I paid for GT780R and extra things but Ken agreed to hold my order till DXR is available. The difference in price I will pay once DXR is finally released and more if I decide to upgrade few more things. I hope that sounds straight.
Though I would say Don´t let the Kernel Panic there might be a simple module mismatch.

    LOL!

While we have your attention today Justin, I wonder if you could share with us..... based on your GT780R sales, what percentage of complaints, and RMA's would you estimate? Donald said, "zero complaints, zero RMA's". He also indicated that the GT780R was currently his leading seller. Do you concur?

    Thanks!

    :)

Zero was accurate when I said it, but since then we have had a few complaints about the keyboard lighting, erratic touchpad and unresponsive keys. However MSI jumped right on those issues and all reported issues have been resolved.

I did not say that the MSI GT780R was our leading seller. That comment was only when compared to one other model.

Yep, I should have said 'at the time' in my post, and yes, I believe your comparison was with the G74. Thanks for the correction!

It would still be interesting to read Justin's opinion on this.

Be happy to! If i were to put a % on it, it is under 2-3% of our units have had RMA issues/Tech Support and we have sold quite a few of them. (which have been resolved with MSI) The GT780R is a fantastic seller, but not our #1 seller. I don't know what models others are comparing it to, i.e. MSI to ASUS or MSI to MSI etc...? I am comparing to Sager/ASUS/MSI. (which the 780R is ahead of the G74SX, and will make a even larger margin over it when the 570M hits :))

EDIT: I see that you are comparing it to the G74SX which is definitely has surpassed sales of this model, around 2 to 1. :)

Thanks Justin! The input is greatly appreciated!

So overall, would you say the issues reported with the GT780R should be of minimal concern (2 to 3%), and that those few having issues, the issues are easily remedied?

Yeah, Donald's comparison was 7 July ( here), and it included the Sager NP8170.

    Thanks again!

    :)

Finally. X-kom shop updated in their offer new DXR models.

    GT683DXR
    GT780DXR

    GT683R +200 PLN/70 USD = GT683DXR
    GT780R +100 PLN /30 USD = GT780DXR

Prices are fantastic. This config costs 5419 PLN/1919 USD.
In US should be circa 300 USD less.
    GT683DXR-I002PL i7-2630QM/8GB/1000/DVD-RW/7HP64

    So early August is possible.

Guys, I realised with the GT780R, the keyboard doesn't really have the anti-ghosting feature. I played Devil May Cry 4 and I couldn't do a simple side roll. =(

I could only execute a side roll with space+k+w, the rest of the directions(with 's','a','d') doesn't work =(

    Can anyone help me out?
This makes my gaming experience harder as I can't dodge in Devil May Cry 4.. But no doubt, this rig is perfect! =)

Is the 570m better than the 485m? This notebook in my opinion is the best looking gaming notebook currently and only reason I'm not even looking at it is that it only come with the 560m gpu.

No it is not more powerful than 485M. It is somewhat in the "area" of 6970M, probably 5% slower or something, which means it is 10%ish slower than 485M

Well you cannot say so until there are benchmarks available. Definitely 570 M has more CUDA cores but they are clocked much less than 560M.
    570M vs 560M vs 485M
    336 CUDA @1150 MHZ 72GBps(Max) vs 192CUDA @1550MHZ 60MBps(Max) vs 384 @1150 96GBps
AMD 6970 is a different Beast altogether due to architectural differences between Nvidia and ATI.
    Look here for further details
    http://www.geforce.com/#/Hardware/NotebookGPUs
Go through Anandtech to learn about Nvidia and AMD GPU architectural details.
Personally speaking if you need CUDA, PHYsx or fancy things like that then go for Nvidia else AMD is second to none in its own.

If you're keeping it on the windows install that shipped with it, you do not really need any drivers as all of them are pre-installed; however, if you want to update the graphics card driver to the new beta one (275.50), download it here.

I think your drivers are good for now, and you might just want to take some time getting to know your new laptop. There is a new 'beta' graphics card driver, which will increase GPU performance...... or perhaps wait till it's final release. The 'beta' download link is here:

    Verde 275.50 Beta

A variety of webcam software is readily available, but to take advantage of it's 720P capability, I would suggest software that is HD optimised. A couple that come to mind is YouCam 4.1, found HERE...... and ArcSoft's Web Companion 4, found HERE. Also, I believe Skype has been updated to support HD webcams also.

Don't be too afraid of messing things up...... when you do, eventually it will be fixed, and you'll LEARN something! ;) (something like..... how 'NOT' to make that mistake again, LOL!) :D

    Have Fun & Enjoy!

    sure sound like it!

I do must say from talking to a few, MSI owners for the most part are pretty high end. What I mean is that your buying a good laptop yet knowing it doesn't have the most power gpu on the market and is perfectly content with it, which mean you have the money to spent, it must be nice to have that as a luxury. :)

Well Thank You _Cheesy_! I know you have your eye on that Sager with the 6990M, but you are more than welcome to join us for the party here! What do ya say? ;)

Well that cause I don't have too much money :( so I need to buy the right laptop, though I don't mind spending an extra $200 for the MSI GT780DXR if it has a 6990m. I really like the gaming keyboard and Dyaudio and of course dual hard drive which you don't get with Sager.
