Is there any way to make the Intel Turbo Boost app run in the system tray instead of being on the task bar all the time?

    Hi everybody
    I'm brand new here
I can't read all posts in this forum, cause my english is not so good, so sorry if I ask some questions that already answered here.
I'm interested of the new MSI gt780DXR.
Can you say, will it be with new gtx570m GPU?
Is there some information about the date of release this laptop?
And is there some information or maybe some your ideas about how much more expensive than gt780r it will be?
    Thanx to everybody
    Sorry for my bad english))

Just right click the icon and "unpin" it from the Task Bar.

The nVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M should become available sometime in August, but information on pricing and the standard configuration has not yet been released.

    Strangely...
In Russia there is a news, posted yesterday about the configurations of this laptop.
It says that there are 2 320gb hdd (5200rpm) or 120gb ssd with 750gb hdd(7200rpm) and DVD or Blu-Ray drive
other configurations are the same as in the gt780r if the news is true

There are different configurations for the MSI GT780R in different parts of the world. In the USA the MSI GT780R-012 is the available version.

Nope. I don't have anything pinned to the task bar (hate that feature of Windows). I have it running on the desktop like a normal app, but that should typically not have a task bar icon like other programs do.

No 3rd party software needed. The built in utility to burn the recovery dvd's or iso's. It is automatically included as part of the recovery image that is made.

I just went to check the webcam for the first time for skype and uh oh!!??!

The device is not found, I checked a few other programs and nothing, it is not plugged in all the way or dead.

Anybody know where it plugs into the mobo so I can make sure it is plugged in completely?

The star on your desktop, if you mouse over it a menu pops up turning webcam on and off is an option on it, mine came off and I had the same problem.

Any chance that current owners of the gt780r will be able to send in their laptop to say Gentech or another MSI dealer and pay to have the 560m upgraded to the 570m?

I ask because according to the owners, in the manual included with the laptop the power supply supports the 560m/570m. If this does not change, can the GPU be upgraded? I don't know much about laptop gous is why I ask.

I wanted to update on a couple things from the other day. My laptop had a bad/damaged ribbon cable that was causing the laptop and the display to go dead. Spouse pointed it out to Xotic techs and they were super nice, pulled one out and overnight shipped it to us for Saturday delivery. That fixed that issue. I have to give XoticPC a huge gold star for that.

But I've found another issue. I originally thought it was an isolated issue on Friday evening when the touchpad went dead. It did it a few times yesterday and a reboot was the only fix. We found the drivers and installed them thinking that would resolve it (thanks to whoever it was that posted them here on the forum), but all day the touchpad has had bouts of being non-responsive. The mouse buttons work, though.

I just emailed Xotic about it and hope they can give me some pointers to fixing this, but I'm nearly to the point that I want to send this laptop back and buy something else. I don't want another laptop like my last Alienware was (ie-glad it was stolen.) Anybody have this? I saw a few post about it earlier but it wasn't quite the same problem.

That's what I was referring to when I thanked the poster who linked to it. It didn't work. It's not jumping, it goes dead/unresponsive.

EDIT: I just realized that on top of the keyboard that only works when you pound the hell of certain keys, that the eject touch button does not work - it only opens from the My Computer DVD-drive right click.
I think I'm returning this piece of junk if it's not too late and getting the ASUS G74SX.

The S-bar is installed. The eject touch button just does not work. I'm really disappointed all around with this laptop. And like I said before, the screen/lid is especially worrisome since it's very flexible. I foresee hinge problems with it, it's already very slowly tilting backwards while I'm using it like my old HP used to do.
I don't know if I should give another of the same another shot, or just go to a different one altogether. Leaning towards the latter, though.

I saw that the MSI return policy is only 10 days from SHIP DATE. I really hope that isn't so. Because that would leave me with only til today to return it.

About the G780DXR, I just recently learned that MSI have their own version of Optimus called GPU boost. The "X-slim" series have GT 540M but can switch to the IGP like Optimus when there is little load. Why can`t they do this with the DXR??

Downloaded the free version, only allows two combos to be saved.

However, it worked well, so I've bought the full version and now the PgUp/PgDn keys are now Home and End. You have to match each combination which is a pain (CTRL-PgUp -> CTRL-Home) etc... but I have a mapping file if anyone else wants it.

I was also able to map the extraneous "|\" key to be a space, so if I hit it, I still get a space :) It has a different keycode than the real one (an OEM code, so it's seen as a different key)

    this scares me :(

I ordered my laptop from xoticpic on the 13th, they started building it the 16th.
I've already been charged of course, and they still haven't built it. I called a couple days ago and they told me they were waiting on a new keyboard and it should be done by thursday

and now when I go to xoticpc I get a 404 error! yikes!
They're just going through maintenance though

I wanted to post what happened the first time I took my gt780r into the office today.
I'm an animator. I was showing my boss what we have done on a current project. This project has a guy narrating for the audio.
I unplugged my headphones and turned up the volume to about 65-70% and played the video for him. In the middle of the video the person in the office next to mine came in and said that audio is "trippy". He thought it was a third person was physically in my office talking with us but what he was saying made absolutely no sense with our conversation and just seemed to ramble on about something else.
When he came in to check what was going on he saw it was my laptop.

    I love these speakers!

Yeah, no pressure whatsoever on the screen to tilt it back. Once it hits a certain angle it slowly falls backwards due to it's own weight. The screen is incredibly floppy.

We contacted Xotic today about returning it. Was torn between the ASUS G74SW and the Sager NP8170/Clevo P170HM and wound up ordering the Sager. Hopefully I'll be happy with it. Thanks for the help - see you guys on the Sager/Clevo forums ;)

I am thinking about getting this laptop but probably with the 570M if it is around 1800. But I have heard alot of problems with the keyboard. Also from reviews on Newegg so thats kinda scary. Also I had Asus before this but it also had a few problems with the screens and I kinda want to try another brand but I have had MSI before with motherboards and I think they sucked compared to my Asus motherboards. Their service isn't great as well for both companies but at least Asus pays for shipping both ways for service. I believe MSI does not pay for your shipping. Anyways how long do they normally take to fix problems. My Asus laptop took almost a month and service was horrible, but at least it was free shipping.

MSI pays for return shipping, you pay for shipping it in.

We have found MSI support to be easier to deal with, and warranty turn around times to be shorter than ASUS.

MSI has come a long way since a few years ago and can now be considered a top tier laptop manufacturer.

Sure, Ken posted a Vantage score HERE ( P9668, overclocked), and another ( P9267, stock) can be seen in his VIDEO, at the 09:36 time marker.

Question is..... for the GTX 570M, are we looking at stock clocks, and stock cpu? Ken?

Do any of the keyboard problems have to do with certain keys not working from time to time?

It seems the left CTRL and SHIFT are sometimes not sending their signals correctly. I cannot isolate it to a reproducible series of steps, but have been frustrated occasionally the last couple of days...

Is it possible the keyboard cable is not seated correctly/loose?

I think he's an international customer, like me. If the laptop had any problems when it arrived, I would have been dead, first of all because my parents weren't encouraging buying from all across the world, secondly because I would have paid RMA shipping and again, taxes!

    Does this mean that
    A) You have the DXR version in your hands right now?
    And/or
    B) It won`t be long until it is released?

price different depends on the configuration of the entire unit not just the GPU.

It can be fully loaded like GT780R-012US but with much higher price, or with only one hard drive and less RAM at lower price, price is undecided yet.

Yes it's stock clock and stock CPU. :)

no I don't have DXR yet, the bechmark mark was tested by MSI Taiwan.
