Yes, I hope so...... that would be a good thing, and YES, more options and cheaper is better!

    :D

BUT, I want to know if that information...... put out here yesterday regarding Pro-Star, was indeed correct. I have my own opinion regarding their record at ResellerRatings.com, but some other information was put out here..... not originating from myself..... and I want to know if it's true! If NOT, well then I have some serious editing to do.

    :(

The reseller will swap the CPU for you. MSI just deliver a basic system from the factory to the resellers.

Hi guys, do you know how to activate DTS instead of THX?

I had that sound effect on my gx660 and it is really nice. Now it's missing and I can't find it, even after reinstalling the realtek audio drivers of the gx660.

    @Caramel:
Yes they keep the 2630QM if you upgrade to 2720 or higher CPU. You pay for the difference of those two CPUs plus a hefty price for the work to swap them. The reason why MSI is more expensive than Sager is because the work to get down to the where the CPU is and to patch everything together again, is more complicated with a MSI or a Asus compared to Sager (Resellers words)

I have no idea, but maybe you should try here to see if someone knows :)

No editing is necessary. Please read my original post carefully.

Pro-star is NOT an MSI authorized Build to Order dealer. Therefore the warranty questions are still open as to them doing any modifications.

Only MSI authorized Build to Order dealers are authorized to make modifications, and as long as those modifications are on your invoice there will be no affect on your warranty.

Pro-star was indeed in violation of several of MSI policies, some of which were corrected today by Pro-star.

Also, as I stated in my original post, MSI realized that the 8GB w/single HDD configuration made sense, so at this point they are working on an official program that will possibly allow it. When I asked them if they were going to allow Pro-star to keep violating the current policy while the rest of us had to stick to it, they said that until a new official policy could be developed all MSI authorized Build to Order dealers could do as we wished.

I expect MSI to have a new policy, which may or may not allow the 8GB w/single HDD configuration, developed very quickly. In the mean time the only real issue is the open warranty questions regarding non MSI authorized Build to Order dealers doing modifications.

As for the pricing...chose the cheaper of the standard version or the modified version depending on your configuration.

So after buying the GT780R-B3 from prostar and finding out here that my warranty might be at risk, I contacted prostar about them offering an unofficial SKU and I was quickly given a response from Eddie Yuan from prostar telling me that they are located about three blocks away from MSI and that if I had any problems with MSI regarding getting it repaired within the warranty that I could send it to prostar and they would personally bring it to MSI to be repaired at their expense. While I do wish that they were an authorized reseller (and that I could have bought this from power-notebooks a few days ago), this response did make me feel much more at ease about the whole thing.

If gentechpc is MSI authorized Build to Order dealer , why don't they just remove the additional 8gb of ram and also one hdd from the rig so that they could sell it in a cheaper price??

For remove RAM and additional hard drive it's already in our configurator. :)

Guys,it might be unrelated but I can't seem to find a GT680R thread here.. Can you please help me out?

My little brother's HDMI port is having a problem recently, the least when I just found out.
Once the cable is inserted, it doesn't load to the plasma tv, I don't get it.
And his lappy's screen will go greyish, not completely black, it hanged or something?

Do advice me on troubleshooting this XD

Please and thank you, xoxo =x

You might want to check the display properties to set the resolution, now sure what kind of plasma TV your brother have but some plasma TV can only accept 1080i signal, in that case, you will need to go to nVidia control panel to set HDMI out to 1080i.

So Ken, there really is no B3 model, or A1 model..... these are only stripped down versions of the GT780R-012US, right?

AND, if you removed an HDD for a customer seeking to reduce their cost, the HDD caddy and screws will remain, right?

SOOooooo you hear that Dgstone18...... better check your empty HDD slot on your Pro-Star GT780-B3! Is the caddy and screws still there? LOL!

    I KNOW! I KNOW!

Let's create a model GT780R-A thru Z, for each possible way we can configure the GT780R-012US! Make sense? Then things can get REALLY confusing!

Or PERHAPS, just have the one GT780R-012US, and set-up the custom configurator page, to allow the customer to build as they like.

Which makes more sense here..... what do ya think folks?

Imagine all the poor MSI techs...... getting all these support calls about the B3 model...... or the A1 model, LOL!

I know the 16F2 has a straight pin adapter.....Does the power adapter on the GT780 fit straight in the back or is it an angled adapter? (similar question to the one in the other thread on 16F2)
