Few hours ago wrote comparison between GTX 570M and Quadro 4000M. Both cards are very similar and their performance should be similar too. Hope so.

It looks like that GTX 570M may adopt their old brother's price (~550$) and will stay equally between GTX 560M (300$) and GTX (750$).

Thanks midzi. I suspect the 570M upgrade (from 560M) to be around $250-300 more like you said too. Do you think it is worth it?
-
For me this upgrade (+250$) has sense only when somebody looks for still cheaper gaming notebook than Clevo/Sager or AW are.
For extra +250$ you will get only extra max 20% efficiency. -
for those who did a clean install. were you able to install both THX apps? i can only see truStudio Pro on system tray. i forgot what the other one was called. i installed that but nothing appeared.

The nVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M won't be available until sometime in August. Final configuration (processor, memory, HDD) and pricing are yet to be determined.
-
Looking at the installed folders, it seems the _ap installer is redundant at best.
You can see a folder named something something ap within the thx pro folder. -
I'm glad the GTX 570m is coming to G780R but let's not get too off topic. I had to scroll through 5 pages just talking about 570m and 580m and nothing else.

Do you know if they plan on using Optimus with it? -
-
There is an icon for the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Perhaps that's the missing one? -
really? i swear i saw two with the same logo right before i clean installed. lol
oh well. good news then. -
I really want to get the MSI, but I also want to play BF3 on at least High settings. Wouldn't you think they would have the configuration set before reveal to reduce the delay between announcement and profit production?
But anyways, I registered on this forum after seeing this thread because I wanted to know a bit more about the GT780R before purchasing. I've seen the Specs vs. the ASUS G74SX on the front page, but I'm still a bit unsure about what to get. -
-
Even if Msi put the GTX 570M in their laptops what are the chances of the card replacing the GTX 560M with out a price increase?
-
-
Looking at the official image here, Spacebar appears to have one long straight line, but on my system its 2 small lines.
Nothing big here but looks like the keyboard design in the pictures aren't final (?)
Which one do you guys have? -

I think it would be nice if the GTX 570M was offered as an upgrade option, but from what I am seeing, this is probably unlikely..... a bummer for existing Owners who would have appreciated such an option.
I suspect we will continue to see the existing lower priced GT780 560M models, and sometime late July-August, new 570M SKU's appearing at significantly higher premiums, based on their overall configurations. If I were to take a guess at what these premiums might be, I'd say these new SKU's will be $300 to $800 above the cost of existing units.
We know the GT780R will be configured with the GTX 570M, but MSI has not officially announced this. What we have seen from MSI however, as of 27 June 2011 (a day prior the GTX 570M announcement), changes to their Product News article, HERE, and changes to their official GT780 page, HERE! In both of these locations, now higher versions WIN 7 are seen, and more storage configurations have appeared. As such, I suspect these new premium SKU's will likely see more than just the GTX 570M, but also 120GB Intel SSD's, along with other versions of WIN 7.
Also it would not surprise me, if MSI changes the designation of these new units..... A GT783 perhaps? If this be the case, I guess I (or some other soul) will be starting a new 'Owner's Lounge'.
Just a hunch, but I think a fair assumption....... -

A bit dated and DX10, but nice FPS nonetheless!
Thanks Lt.Ford, good find!

can't wait for far cry 3
, really hope i can get a rig that could play it in high setting
-
Hmm, if it is able to handle BF3 on high(er) settings with the GTX 560m, should I just order the GT780R now? I'm looking to buy from GenTech PC, so Mr. Lee, if you could assist me in ordering, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for answering my question Ken. How long is the start-up time with the stock HDD's? Is it worth getting a SSD and disabling RAID-0? -

Donald@Paladin44 Retired
It will be the GT780DXR with the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M

The best ETA we have now is August...sometime.
-
it take 1:10 from press power button to Windows desktop with stock HDDs and RAID-0.
SSD is worth it if money is not a issue. SSD on primary is getting very popular now. -
GTX 485m price drop zzz
-
if compare gtx 570m with gtx 485m , gtx 485m still outperform gtx 570m , am i right??
-
Does anyone have a time frame for how long it takes for a SSD on the 780 to boot up to the desktop? Would the stock HDDs in RAID-0 configuration perform similarly to having the OS on a SSD?
I think I might just buy the 780 now and use the leftover money to customize it with a SSD as a primary. Is the Bigfoot or the Intel Ultimate Wi-Fi chip better? -

it'll be a blessing if we could do this to gtx 570m -

Reminds me that I gotta see the new transformers movie this weekend
Optimus would have been SO awesome. GTX 560/570M is shut off when watching movies etc and that would have meant the fan shut off which means less noise and cooler notebook. And longer battery life. Or Dolphin emulator with using only the IGP of Sandy Bridge. TONS of possibilities.
Zomg MSI. Just contact Alienware and they will tell you how it is done -

Please tell us when you know more Ken. -

I've already decided I'm going for the GT780DXR, but now this may be an added perk.
Thanks Ken!

What about your current GT780R? -

Heck, it hasn't even arrived yet!(tomorrow or Friday)
My eldest son is on his way to Afghanistan soon, and I'm sure he would enjoy taking it with him....... or I'll just sell it.

Ur son? How old is he already?
Gosh, u rich fella!!
Make me ur foster son! XD
I wan a GT780DXR too =x
U sure the Optimus would be good?
It tends to mess up the performance of the discrete GPU and causes stability problems, isn't it? -
Optimus is something I'm not totally convinced on yet. On the one side, it does make the battery so much better... but I've heard too many people complain of flickering and slowdown when using the discrete GPU. I figure its something that still needs time to develop before I look too much into it
