For large notebooks, the Targus XL is a very popular choice, and for many is considered 'Ol' Reliable'. Tough with plenty of room, and will comfortably house 18.4" notebooks. I have owned a couple of these, and I think they are a nice choice too.

Looking forward to those pics too, I travel too much so being able to securely fit the laptop and a few other necessities would be awesome. That backpack definately looks nice!

Notebookcheck have a preview of their review of the G74SX up, so I made a comparison pic of the cooling system of that vs GT780R. Probably not interesting to all, but for me it is :)

    how is this possible?
    G74 with 2 fans vs. GT780 with 1 fan. GT780 wins?

i thought 2 fans cool better than 1 fan

Yeah I know right. I was a bit shocked by the result myself. It is a lot cooler than the G74 and makes less noise when doing light stuff. But when gaming the G74 wins, with 5 dB+

Wonder if MSI could release a BIOS that lets the fan run a bit slower or less often and at the same time get the same temperatures as the G74?

Very nice Cloudfire, interesting find! Thumbs Up!

Yeah, Ken was saying he felt the G74SX was a bit noisey..... more so 'in gereral', than the G73 or GT780R.

    Thanks!

That is extremely good news. 570M is like 10W more TDP which the cooling system is more than capable of dealing with. Plus it is much better than 560M. Thanks a lot for the link +rep :)

Now if they only had Optimus enabled along with it...

Very interesting. Thanks for posting this. G74 still quite a bit quieter at load, which I wish is something MSI could achieve on this system. Still great to see though, what a fantastic job they've done at cooling.

MSI will be making announcements later today, or tomorrow at the latest.

The GTX 570M will not be available for a while, and when it does become available it will have a hefty cost upgrade.

Gtx 580m is a $600 bump from the Gtx 460m on the M17 according to alienware's website, didn't see anything on gtx570m. But it doesn't look to be cheap.

Well actually i just got the info through youtube comment , someone been posting bout gtx 580m will be out few weeks ago(forgot) , later on i just search for gtx 580m to no avail .So out of curiosity i just ask some forumer ( not in this forum or is it??) , they just told me it's a myth or so.So i myself is not sure too.But i've the wisdom that it might be real , i just wait for it since i don't need a laptop right now. Some even told me if the gtx 580m or gtx 570m is a real thing , it won't be incorporated into MSI GT780r laptop as this laptop had so far disregarded two high end GPU ( gtx 485m and hd 6970m) and decided to use gtx 560m.But right now my stubbornness is proven :)

From the press release it doesn't look like the GT780R will be getting the gtx 580m, it doesn't have the power for it. It will be getting the gtx 570m, notebook check thinks it will be a bump from the gtx 470m and on par with the radeon HD 6970m. Here's the link: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

There's one thing i don't understand , for gtx 570m there's some shaders which is not unlocked. Why nvidia would do that??Why don't just unlock all the shaders and only sell gtx 580m instead of creating another 570m??

    Money my friend.
    Option 1) Sell 570m for $400 and 580m for $600 or
    option 2) Sell 580m only for $600.
You net in more cash by drawing in consumers who only have budget for 570m. (purely throwing a figure for comparison)

It's what intel does with their chips by making one chip then down clocking or disabling features and sell them cheaper. It's what apple does with their iPhones and iPads by disabling video recording on 3G iPhone then selling 3GS with video recording enabled. All about money and catering to demand.

Do you think it will be possible for us to unlock the rest of the components of the 570m?
Also, will the 570m be available for other manufactures like Sager/Clevo because atm from what I read they are going to just ship it with the MSI 780R?
I'm just not sure to choose between the 485m vs the 570m since optimus seems to be all the hype especially with saving battery life...

You know what guys. The 570M is one odd GPU of the bunch because it is much better than the 560M but at the same time have only a bit much more TDP. Which means that it will produce only a bit more heat but perform so much better in games etc.

Here is a comparison chart of the 500 series btw. Gotta love these charts. BTW, the 570M is 192 bit, not 256 bit.

EDIT: There is more errors in this chart. The processor clock is 1150MHz, not 1070MHz.

Well, it would seem to me, the simplest solution would be shipping the new cards to the resellers, and making this another upgrade option..... as opposed to developing yet another SKU. I hope so! If this can be confirmed from MSI, I for one would certainly like to hear about it. This also has me curious about the power brick, or if anything else would have to change.

Also, what about Optimus? Yes? No? I have read a few articles that says NO, then suddenly they seem to have been edited, and seemingly now suggest Yes!

I must say, I am concerned with these questions, having 'early adopted' yet again..... having had only 2 days of the GT780R experience...... and now only 21 days after it's release, a new refresh is announced!

Yeah that must suck. I always wait a bit before making my final decision when new products is released. And I knew 580M was gonna be announced around this date so I waited to see what happend. And 570M was also announced. And it is going to be featured in the 780R. Pleasant suprise :)
If they somehow got Optimus working with GT780R, I will be super thrilled although I doubt it will happen

GTX 560M is a very good GPU anyways Striker. It can play all games and most of them in high details So you have a very good laptop in your hands right now :)

Well said... As for me I used to get aggravated when I would buy something and a month later something better would come out, but in this day and age you if you keep waiting for the next best thing you will never buy anything especially with electronics. I'm sure someone will buy a notebook with a the 570m or 580m and shortly after Amd will release the successor to the 6970m aka 6990m. And around and around we go.

    460m and 470m had price difference of $300. 485m was $585 more.
Following this trend 570m would be about $300 more for 15-20percent performance improvement and 580m will be about $585 more for 30percent or so performance increase. I say I am happy with 560m which is on par with 470/480m for the price that's slightly higher than 460m.
560m is a beast at churning out current game and when new games that push 560m comes out new laptop with new gpu in same line of 560m will come out and I will be happy again. 460m and 560m were named best bang for bucks for a reason.

I have to agree. The 560m plays everything great. If I want more I will game on my desktop. After the price point of the 560m the value just goes way down.

I'm looking at the bright side. If the power is close then maybe we will be able to do a GPU swap and upgrade the graphics card later. I plan on getting the Gt780 with the 560 and hopefully I'll be able to repaste the graphics card next year when the price comes down. Or even better go to the 670 that will probably be out then.
