Ok, cool. So I just install the ssd, install windows on it and it should work?

Will my files on the hd still be available (games and all)?

Yes, install Windows 7 Home Premium with the key found on the sticker of your laptop. Download the latest Nvidia driver and get the rest of the drivers from LG Intelligent Update. Unless you choose to format your HDD when installing Windows all your files should be intact. Of course, there will be registry files for your games and other software that will be lost due to them being stored on your old mSata SSD. The same goes for the recovery partition, although that one is actually split between your HDD and SSD.

    Hey Convel!

First of all im very sorry, I tried to check for the pins, but I really didnt know where to look and I didnt want to break anything( I really couldnt see it!)... I compared the two screws btw and they are the same length (if you mean the ones under the rubber feet) 100 percent sure !

Now the good news, im running the 6205 module :) I will report back after some intensive gaming sessions how good the wlan works

BTW It was really a mess getting the plastic off the aluminium case but the rest was no problem!

Thanks a million for your tutorial, to be honest, I couldnt have made it without it :) Im sooo happy I got a much faster and more stable wlan now yaay

Next time I open it up, I will install an SSD.

One more question, what do you use? An msata SSD or a HDD one? Since my p330 ue40k uses a 4gb msata ssd I probably will need to replace that

Did you disconnect the LVDS cable or did you try checking without doing so? I'm having trouble understanding what made it difficult to see them since I haven't tried myself. Thanks anyway.
    Thanks a lot! :)
No problem. I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you. I have to admit the plastic bottom gave me a bit of a headache at first. The combination of it sitting quite tight and getting poor grip with your hands is not a good one. I'm sure it will seem easier the next time around. :p
Apart from the NIC I haven't upgraded anything yet. The new 256GB mSata SSDs do look interesting, but it would also be nice to get rid off the HDD for complete silence when the laptop is not under heavier load.

I tried checking without doing so and to be quite honest I didnt feel confident enough to do it, I was already waaay to concerned about switching the NIC card :)

But everything worked out fine in the end, im so happy.. I was very surprised also that there wasnt any visible dust in my p330 although I already have it for a few months

You are really a blessing, your owners thread has helped me tremendously with my p330, from downloading inf modded drivers to upgrading the NIC. I am very grateful :)

I did some testing yesterday (prolly 3 hours gaming) and I had 0 lag spikes or lags, I skyped simultanously during gaming and everything works flawless now. It seems like the stock atheros card isnt really the greatest (specs also say its 1x1 when you check your first post)

I will probably upgrade both the msata SSD and the HDD, just not sure which SSD to get ^^

I understand, no worries. That only means I can cling on to the faint hope of ever fitting this panel in my laptop. :D
Thanks but the first post of the owner's thread is, or at least it's meant to be, a collection of data. I wasn't the first one to share how you could update the drivers nor was I the first one to install a different NIC.
There are quite a lot of options out there. I would stick with Intel for a fullsize SSD replacement since the Intel 320 is the only one that has worked so far, not to mention Intel's high reliability.

Has anyone been successful in manually adjusting the fan speed? I did some overclocking yesterday, but I wasn't able to go any higher than 695 MHz for the core and 1050 MHz for the memory without throttling issues in FurMark. Despite the high temperature the fan was at least two steps away from running at its highest RPM.

I only noticed that you can set your fan to silent or normal mode with FN + F11

But otherwise, did you try adjusting the fanspeed with speedfan or hwinfo32?

Im quite sure the bios doesnt have any fan settings

I tried SpeedFan to no avail. The fan didn't show up. I did have HWInfo64 open, but honestly I couldn't see a fan adjusting option.

This isn't surprising, i'm pretty sure the author of HWiNFO added some code specific to AW for the fan control. Aside form the AWs, i haven't seen a notebook where HWiNFO allowed fan control yet.

RW Everything would probably allow you to mess with the right registers, but that utility has the potential to do a lot of damage and i have no idea which is the fan register.

Hey guys, I upgraded my graphics card to 296.10 and everything went fine. But after I upgraded, my pc reads that there is 2 monitors connected when I plug in to an external monitor. Anyone has that happen to them?

You mean that it's expanding your desktop across the two displays? Or maybe you're talking about a generic non-PnP one? Because it is supposed to detect both of them. Somehow I don't think I've grasped your problem. You could download an even newer driver from LaptopVideo2Go and see if that fixes anything

Yeah, it gets a generic non-Pnp one. Even though there is nothing plugged in to the laptop.

LaptopVideo2go doesn't have the latest driver though. 296.10 was the latest I found...

Hi, how's everything related to our P330?

I just tried a Killer 1103 and it seems like this one is better than the 6300 I used to install in my laptops...

Has anyone assigned the f1 and f2 buttons? If so what did you guys do? I am not sure if I will be able to do it, since I removed heap of the LG software, but it is worth a shot.

You're taking about the user keys (Fn+F1 & Fn+F2)? You assign the programs in the Hotkey Configuration software under LG On Screen Display 2.

Hey guys! How's everyone enjoying their P330's so far? I've been playing a LOT of diablo 3 on it and it's super lol.

Just a quick question - have you guys used the SD card reader yet (the multi card reader)? I'm not sure how it opens or am I suppose to push the SD card into it?

Hahahaha I had exactly the same Problem, I have no clue how to open it without using force, the sdcard dummy sits in pretty tightly..

BTW I am enjoying my p330 alot! Amazing that there still isnt anything similiar out except for maybe the w110er or the sony s13

Apart from the screen being a bit lackluster this laptop has been great for me. I loved its simple yet functional design from day one and in the meantime it has only grown even more on me. I've been gaming more on it recently and I have to say it works very well as a gaming laptop without the usual trade-offs. I really hope LG will continue this line of laptops.

Ya I can't seem to open it lol...what did you use to open it with?

I actually checked out the W110er recently, and the specs look quite good with the new nvidia cards too. But to be honest I really can't imagine playing games on a 11.6" screen haha.

Ya me too, I had the P300 back then, and now the P330. This series really suits my needs and I'm glad to see LG's been making good solid improvements too (ie. my P300 didn't cool as well when playing games, LG really made the cooling better in the P330).

The dummy card sits like any normal SD card would. Just push it in far enough for the spring mechanism to 'click' and do the rest for you. It might seem like you have to push it in further than with other laptops because of the flush design.

Hmm, the successor is to be the P335.

The P330 has been discontinued for 2 months, but the P335 isn't showing up anywhere except for rumors.

    Hmm.

We should keep our hopes up but I honestly don't know why LG is taking this long.

I really hope it's not just rumors. Besides the obvious Ivy Bridge upgrade and the Geforce 555M -> 650M (hopefully, the GDDR5 variant), a MATT and higher res screen would be very welcome (e.g. 1600x900 and IPS would be a nice bonus) and a backlighted keyboard; maybe some more color options, as well (e.g. black). I hope they'll provide some concrete announcement soon as I need a replacement for my portable Acer 1810TZ (the Ultrabooks are restricted battery and power-wise, the Sager 11,6" is a bit thick and the case seems cheapish material and design-wise, not to mention below average battery life).

I've also seen a few Korean shops list screen protectors for it. I think I will hold onto my P330 a little longer. The only thing I can think of that potentially could win me over would be a top of the line display.

Hopefully it will show up soon. The only alternatives are ultrabooks (low voltage CPUs, but still hot under stress, average battery life, etc.) or the W110ER. I got a Samsung 9 X3C on order as a gift so I'll see if my scepticism about Ultrabooks is warranted..

Hey, what is the largest SSD that will work with the P330? I would like 512 as a minimum.

Also, has there been any bios update from LG? I couldn't find nothing on it, but then again, I don't speak Korean...

Guys, just wanted to share a lil bit of experience. My laptop was recently damaged during a thunderstorm. Don't know if that has ever happened to anyone else here lol...I mean what are the chances right?! Anyway, luckily, I called LG canada and my repair request was approved. I was even using one of those surge protectors too...(don't know how effective they really are), but I don't want to imagine what would have happened if I didn't. So in conclusion, try not to use your laptop/computer/TV/whatever during a vicious thunderstorm even if you have a surge protector just to be safe!

The only 2.5" SSD that has been confirmed to be safe from a compatibility standpoint at this point is the Intel 320, and that one is available in sizes up to 600GB. I haven't heard of any BIOS updates either.
I'm glad to hear your repair request was approved. You'll still have to go through a bit of waiting though. Because of such horror stories I never take any chances and unplug all of my tech during thunderstorms despite having surge protectors. As such, I have yet to experience anything like that myself. :)

I found the warranty service of LG pretty good, given that it is extremely slow (at least in Australia).

Shame that the only confirmed SSD is the intel 320. The 600gb of that is about $900.... way too much... I wonder when a bios update will be out.

Hmm.. Lack of updates is not encouraging.. With all the competition out there, they should market it some more (e.g. I'm considering a Vaio S ATM).. But, the P330 was a latecomer to the market, as well.

I think the p335 is just a slightly different version of the p330, maybe it lacks the dedicated graphics or has a different HDD?

I rhink that, because I have seen various p220/225 in korean onlineshops, when I was looking for the p330..

The P330 can already be had with either the GT555M or the GT520MX and different storage options. I don't think introducing yet another variant at this point in time would make much sense. Maybe it won't be a groundbreaking new model but I am expecting something more than that.

Hmm, maybe scratch that - Vaio S seems to have a very average screen at best (low contrast), GPU throttling, not the quietest cooling set, awful speakers and catches scratches easily supposedly.

I tried the Samsung Series 9 X3C I bought for my wife and the SSD loading times and almost instant hibernation (Intel RST) make my trusty Acer 1810TZ (bought as a temporary small laptop when I decided that the old Z with GT335 seems to be too noisy for the huge price it was going for) less and less bearable. But, can't seem to find a well-rounded product, with or without the GPU (e.g. in the ultrabook class, the Samsung X3C is very well rounded, but I think I want a bigger body with a larger battery and better cooling so it can run on full voltage and not this ULV CPU and laggy Samsung-optimized power saver mode to extend battery life).

Come on, LG, where's that P330 successor!? I bet they're waiting for Windows 8 or smth (which might indicate a glossy touch screen? hopefully not..)

Crucial M4 SSD 256GB works now on LG P330. However, the performance is not as expected. Check out my comparison post LG P330 vs P310 for screenshots depicting the performance of the hard drive.

Interesting. You're saying the 830 worked even before the BIOS update? The 800-series seemed like an attractive candidate due to Samsung using their own controllers, aside from the solid performance itself of course.

I have updated the first post of this thread to reflect the change in SSD compatibility we are seeing after the new BIOS update. Currently, there has not been a single report of a non-functional SSD with the new BIOS and, as such, there's no need for a seperate list dedicated to BIOS version F12. Let's hope things stay that way. ;)

Another thing I've forgot to mention is that Nvidia driver updates no longer seem to require a modified INF file in order to install.
