I bought extra memory aswell.. but yet again, I do use heavy programs, like 3d software, video editing and such. for games you wont feel much difference in 3 and 4 gb of ram.. however there is a change from 2 to 3, or specially from 2 to 4.

You have to try to put it on layaway, they offered to ship one in for me from Ontario (Which they did) via interstore shipping (for free)...

Hey, uh, now, this is kind of a bump, and not really a double post (Honest!)

I can't get Service Pack 1 to install on my P300.
Anyone with similar issues or ideas on how to solve this very annoying issue?
It gets to Part 3, 100% completion, before undoing all of its changes and trying to get me to start the process of installing SP1 all over again.

People should be careful with this, I asked notebook.de about the french keyboard and it's actually not available from LG !!

So even if the keyboard is listed on their website, people should ask for confirmation ...

I know this isn't much help but there weren't any problems for me when I installed my SP1 for Vista. Mine is an US English Vista. Maybe your's is an isolated problem. It will it be cheeky to ask you to reinstall your system again to check? Test and error, that is my best remedy.

thomaskc.dk, congrats on your new laptop. I have the same specs on my laptop, I bought it in sweden a couple of month's ago. I'm very pleased with the performance of the LG.
But before I bought the LG I was close to buy either XPS-M1330 or the Zepto 6224 from Zepto.dk. But it seems from your avatar I should be glad I did not buy the Zepto, would you care to elaborate? I'm very curious about the Zepto, since they seem to have high performance for a good price.

Sounds very good ! I cant wait for it to arrive... it should come tomorrow or wedensday :)

And yes, be VERY happy that you didnt buy a Zepto... and there are several reasons why.

It sure is good hardware for the money no doubt.. but like everything else in this world, you get what you pay for, and the places Zepto is cutting down to make things this cheap is way more expensive than bying a working laptop from another brand.

    Here is why:
    1. The biggest problem on zeptos laptops is their extremely bad cooling system, its so bad that for the 7 months i had my 6324w I havnt been able to game as intended on it, since after 4minutes of play the gpu hits 96 degrees and the system starts to choke, declock and do what it can to lower the temp, which it cant since the cooling in general is so bad.. so there you go, a gaming laptop that cant game.

If you care and got some hours.. there is a huge post about the whole issue, problem solving along the way and so on, here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=207592

    2. Second thing is their RMA support.. they say they have a 2 week support / return time.. and thats if its inside Denmark! but in reality 9/10 times it will take 4-6 weeks before you see your laptop again, and 50% of the time your problem isnt solved.

Now imagine you being outside Denmark, you still have to send it to the Headquater in DK to get it fixed, and then wait even longer since you dont live in Denmark. Drop by the Zepto forum, there are several posts about these issues.

So buttom line is, it looks very good on the paper, but you get fooled by the few cheap components that will ruin it all for you.

Turns out that a Windows Update to the Logging program disabled it. Deleting the offending file restarts the logging program, which allows SP1 to continue its install.

    Never mind!

You'd be lucky if you can use 500 MB more with Windows 32-bit, depends on the hardware, some get more some get less. But yeah, I'd get 4 GB if I could too, but I was just saying it won't make a difference for most users.

Just wondering if any of you guys have experience with the Smart Link?
I was trying to connect my old laptop to the P300 with the Smart Link, so that I can get all the files from my old laptop.
But I couldn't figure out how to actually see the harddrives on both computers.
    Any help?

Thank's for your reply. I did check out the Zepto forum, and I can say that their laptops did sound to good to be true.
You will be happy with the performance of LG-P300, I have played Assassin's Creed for a few hours at a time, and it's working great. It does get a bit hot and the fan speeds up, but it is still very quiet, but no slowdowns i fps whatsoever even after 2 hours of gaming. My 3Dmark06 scoore at 1024x768 is now 3528 no oc, which is good for a 13,1" Laptop! Which btw is not far from the 8600GT with DDR2.
    Good Luck!

Its not far at all, and I think id rather have the ddr3 version... the ddr2 has proved to cause alot of trouble of different kinds. sounds great with assassins creed!

My laptop standing next to me in its small box... yet im still at work :p I want get home !!!! ;)

LG don't seem to sell notebooks in any French speaking territory save Algeria and those are ANCIENT (LW25? They can't seriously be selling those anymore). The closest you can likely get is a Canadian/French keyboard.

Anyone Noticed the HD loading constantly after a reboot? mine has done it for around 20mins now.. i dont use the laptop, just sits there.. winupdate is disabled and all.. it annoying..eats so much performance for no logic reason.

    EDIT:

It seems it finally stopped.. anyway.. My new laptop here only scored 3124 in 3dmark 1280x768 and that seems quite low! for a 2,5 ghz with a 8600 ddr3 ?!?

My old crappy laptop with a 2,0 ghz and a 8600 ddr2 (gt instead of gs) scoret around 3700-3900, on the same system, memory amount and so on.

The P300 is now discontinued, as Future Shops that still have inventory are clearing them out for $1500 if not less.

LG is releasing a notebook with similar specs, but with a slower processor but more RAM(4gb?), but starts at $1999 Canadian.

There P300 is off the FutureShop site, and you can only find it in store(if there is any left). I know of one store in Toronto, Kennedy/Eglinton, that has ONE P300-U left as of this morning at 11am, and it had the price tag of $1499.

Info is according to the sales rep there. New unit may not be the same series though.

I have a few question regarding this laptop:

    1. Does the GPU have DDR3 memory with DX10 support?
    2. Is the difference between T8300 and T8100 noticable, basically how different would the laptop be from last config as in now that it has slower processor but more ram?
    3. Does it have 1Gb Turbo and 2Gb DDR2 memory like previous config?
    4. And in you opinion is it still the best 13" gaming laptop out there for the price that futureshop is giving it for?

    I'd really appreciate your help.

P.S. I dont know if i could post it here cuz i have posted these questions in another thread but that thread also shows the same specs and because this thread has more replies i'll be able to get more opinions

The initial loading is Vista's Superfetch feature, it's on by default, it will try to load everything that you mostly used into RAM. It will take some time for Vista to learn your pattern, afterward it should be pretty good. And no, Superfetch doesn't lock the memory, if another program needs it, that program will have priority.

Do a search on Superfetch, you can read more info on it. Some people like it, some people don't. Some benefit from it, gamers seem to like it turned off. The main idea of Superfetch is to try use less HDD and more the RAM, since RAM is much faster than HDD.

50c GPU, that's good also, can you tell me what driver version are you using?

Im running 169.04 since its the lastest ive found that will overclock the gpu, and the cpu is running cool since ive undervolted it from 1.325 volt to like 0.975 volt, which means less power = less heat :) no performance changes or problems what so ever. reason why it normally gets more volt is to be sure thing will run as intended.

Do notice though! that different cpus has different values they can work fully at, so if you want to try, do it step by step.

p.s. Rightmark utility is used to undervolt.

    Thanks for the info Thomas!

Yeah I thought your CPU temp was abnormally low for a second... :p

I read about undervolting before, but I'm still undecided if I'll try it or not since the current temp is not bad or anything. Why fix it when it's not broken, right? :p Anyway, I might try it later. :D

hehe true.. however there are no risks by trying.. if you eventually hit a volt that is too low, you system will hit a bluescreen of death. then you reboot and set it to the setting 1 step higher instead, keep doing that until its stable.

Sure, there is no real need for undervolting on this laptop, however i did it to give just a tiny more room for heat from the gpu, so overclocking would be easier :)

No, there's an auto-gag feature and when it starts complaining and whining that automatically shuts it up. ;) (*drumfill*)

Seriously, I never noticed any offensive fan whine. Certainly nothing on the order of my Clevo M570U memory fan.

I saw this new LG P-300 on one computer shop with this specs.

    LG P-300
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 / 2.5 GHz
    13,3" (1280x800)
    2GB Ram
    8600m GS ddr3 (256mb)
    250GB HD

The cost is equivalent to 1900USD. Do you guys think the price is reasonable? Thanks

I'm thinking about the CPU "whine", though. The CPU makes an annoying sound when it's idle. Unless you're working in a totally quiet environment, you're probably not going to hear it. Do you know if the P300 suffers from it?

I can closely describe the CPU whine I encountered with my M1330 as a quiet version of a 1000 hz sawtooth tone. You can generate a tone using Audacity.

I can't for my life figure out if I should buy the P300 now while I can, or wait for the new AMD or Intel platform notebooks to hit the market.

Has anyone found any big drawbacks with the P300? Was going to buy the m1330, but kept reading about some having bad screens, some having annoying CPU whines and bad hard drives and all such things.

I just want a nice looking, small, reliable notebook for surfing, some AutoCAD, some 3d-modeling and a lot of photoshop editing (with an external 24" screen).

Sorry for questioning you, but you do know what it sounds like? I ask, because a lot of Apple buyers told me how the MacBooks did not suffer from it, when in fact, it did (heard it myself). I've also heard it in the Dell D420 (but that uses a different CPU). Have you put your ear to the computer and listened? :)

I just really want to be sure!

    Hey guys!

Im trying to decide between the LG P300 and the ASUS U6Sg.
I started a thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=262438 comparing the two and was wondering if any of you were in the unique position to have seen/used both the asus and the lg, and if you could post your experience in that thread? So far the response I have received greatly favours the U6Sg, but the response also seems to be very biased...some P300 fans opinions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance ;)

    hey everyone!

I was wondering if a P300 owner could do a little test for me?
I am interested in the quality of the FPS of C&C3 (could download the demo if you dont own the game) with the native resolution. Can one play the game with 30fps with all settings maxed out? And if so, up to what resolution (external monitor) do the FPS stay over 20-25fps?

    Thanks in advance,

This is the best notebook I have used in a long time. Light, speedy and kind of stylish. I can't say anything bad for this machine. All I want is on this computer. The heat isn't too bad, I always use it on my lap or just with my pants on. Speed is great, I play War Craft with no problems.

I don't use the DVD drive unless I am playing games and that is not very often. I use it for mostly work, like photoshop and dreamweaver.

All in all, this is a great machine. Hard to find one to match it. Of course there will be better ones soon but for the meantime, I quite enjoy this machine. It will last me at least a few years!

Does it come with CD/DVD ROMs - i.e., OS and rivers in different ROMs? I want/like to delete, partition and then install OS in my own way.

    :)

Anyone know when this thing will hit US? It's been 7 months since the announcement of LG P300 will arrive US soon. Maybe anyone who is able to get one or have one and has a really good eBay score willing to sell me one? I'm willing to pay $2,000 including shipping. But if this thing will arrive US soon, maybe I'll just wait
