The Newegg one is nice as long as you will never want an SSD to go with the standard drive. I ordered the same model a couple weeks ago from Newegg and it turns out they completely removed the NGFF adapter that is used for SSD.

Thank you for letting me know, I definitely want to add an SSD later. Does the one from Lenovo website has the NGFF adapter?

No clue. All I can say for is what I got from Newegg. You can see my thread about it HERE.

You could save $90 and purchase the same model through Amazon ( Amazon.com: Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p 15.6-Inch Laptop (Metal - Dusk Black): Computers & Accessories ) Ignore the low rating on the laptop because the bad reviews are for really idiotic reasons.

For those with a single graphics card:

How's the battery life when you switch to integrated graphics?

    How's the heat/fan when gaming?

4-5 hours with mid brightness and power saver mode doing light browsing

Hot-ish. Nowhere near as cool as ASUS but cooler than MSI.About the same heat as Clevo i'd say.

I used to. I fixed them by:
    - Downgrading the drivers to 15.6
    - Setting the frequency to "auto"
    - Uninstalling Intel PROset

    Your mileage may vary.

The wireless-N present in the Y410P is present in a *Lot* of laptops, not just Lenovos. You can find better info about this card and its potential issues on the Intel forums.

Purchased the 59370006 model for $ 1,298.95 USD

Just a little disappointed in the shipping. I don't want to wait! I'm too excited! I've never owned a laptop.

Just wondering if anyone has noticed this variation of the Y510p

    http://www.frys.com/product/7701228

Comes with the both 750M for SLI AND the Blu Ray optical Drive! 16gb Ram is a tad much and it runs with the 1Tb 5400rpm HDD and 24gb SSD for $1300. costs a little more but gives you the ability to drop SLI for the BD OD! I'm thinking bout snagging this then replacing the HDD with an SSD =]

OH MAN i just found this (Sorry if i double posted, this was just a deal i didnt want anyone to miss...The Fry's deal got changed apparently so i went roaming for a new one and...)

    XOTIC PC | LENOVO IdeaPad Y510p (59375627)

So pressing the "Customize" button allows you to add all the features you want. You can leave it stock for $1,200. However, this is the Dual SLI version and when entering customization you can see that the "Blu Ray Ultrabay Bundle" is included for free at the stock 1,200!! Cheaper than the Fry's Electronics one with same exact specs. Guarenteed anti glare screen, i7 4700MQ processor and the ability to have them replace your 1TB 5400rpm HDD + 24 SSD with 2 mSATAs!

So what wireless cards work in this thing ? I wanted to put a dual band widi card in it, anyone test it out yet ? Is there even 2 antenna ?

Also I'm trying to figure out if the display of the non-sil on the lenovo website is the same in this review Review Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

In terms of blacks and color reproduction .

And has anyone tried XTU with it yet ?

Also, I'm reading this thing has a turbo boost problem, does that apply to the non-sil too ?

Not sure if lenovo's pricing is wrong, but a single gt750m, 1920x1080 res and a 24 gb ssd y510 is on sale for 819 right now.
90% sure I'm going to buy it.

Yeah, the 510p's got a nice little price break.

Google "Barnes and Noble Lenovo" and buy from there, though. 789 for the same specs.

Hey guys! Got mine yesterday, by the way, if you can you can get a price match to credit you the difference in the new price! Also, I've had a few annoying issues so far, the most of which being that I can't use the trackpad and keyboard at the same time, if I have a key pressed down the trackpad is disabled... This is absolutely horrible for playing games!!!!! I found this ... I can't use the keyboard and touchpad at the same time ? - Yahoo! Answers ... but cant find this option "Palmcheck" in synaptic options. Has anyone resolved this!? Please help :(.\

    Nevermind I found the setting!

Google (as usual) led me here. Yesterday I received my new Y510p from NewEgg. It includes a 1 TB hard drive and a 24 GB SSD. It comes with Windows 8, which I don't want to use. Therefore, I decided to clean the system completely and install Windows 7.

I blanked both drives, switched the firmware to legacy mode, changed the "OS optimized defaults" setting to "Other OS," and performed a clean install of Windows 7. The Intel Smart Response drivers don't show any indication that acceleration is possible. Then I remembered that the controller mode must be set to RAID for this feature to work. However, the firmware lacks this option: the only choices are AHCI and "Compatible" (for IDE mode).

Now I see this post here, that SRT is not supported on the Y510p. What makes me curious is that the driver download page for the Y510p includes the SRT software. It does not include ExpressCache. Any clue why this might be? And am I really going to have to go the ExpressCache route?

SRT Software is present because this laptop supports Raid via the Ultrabay. But you will have to use ExpressCache for caching.

Hmm, are you sure? Cuz look at this:

    Newegg Model $1,089.99
1080p, 8GB RAM, no SSD, Dual GPUs
    Newegg.com - Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p (59375625) Intel Core i7 8GB Memory 1TB HDD 15.6" Notebook Windows 8

    Amazon Model $1,085.64
1080p, 12GB RAM, 8GB SSD, Dual GPUs (at glance sections states Dual Nvidia)
Amazon.com: Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p 15.6-Inch Laptop (Metal - Dusk Black): Computers & Accessories

Do I am missing something? o.o

I dont see any Ultra Bay Blu-Ray bundle on Customize options o.o

Thanks. I learned this from someone on the Lenovo forum, too. I installed ExpressCache and it works, according to eccmd -info. I guess I can uninstall the SRT stuff then since I'm not planning to create a RAID array.

Another question, for the Amazon one, I wonder wich kind of warranty you get? and with who? With Amazon or with Lenovo? 1 Year?

    No idea =/

For anyone that placed an order for this price (or the Barnes and Noble $789 deal) it was a typo and they are mass canceling the orders. Aparently it was only up for half the day and they got flooded with thousands of orders. They are going to try to get as many people as they can to pay the $929 that it should have been priced.

Did you place an order? I shipped out my y410p this morning for a swap. I couldn't pass up better battery life and a better screen for less than I paid for the y410p. Under my circumstances, and after talking to 3 reps and a manager, they are going to honor my sale. It seems that if you have a good reason and if you don't take no for an answer they will honor it, as they should. Over at slickdeals.com, people are pretty pissed off over over the whole thing. Hopefully Lenovo won't push away too much business.

Yeah, I thought it was too good to be true, and must've been a typo :\.
Well, I'm probably going to get the one with out an ssd for like 859 or however much it costs.
Shame that Lenovo is cancelling orders for their mistake.
I remember Razer had a 90% discount code leaked accidentally where people got the Razer blade for a few hundred bucks and still honored one purchase from each customer with the code.

My god that's a hell of a deal.. I was surprised that Lenovo wouldn't honor the price in the first place. One rep told me "the lowest your going to get it for is $929".. but the payment had already been processed on my bank account and had a shipping label printed. I'm not sure if there is a legal obligation, but it seems like more of a hassel for them to cancel all the shipments and waste hours upon hours trying to talk their customers into spending more money than to just honor the sales and move on. Even at $789 they have got to be making a profit still. And it's not like it was some generated discount code, they had it displayed on their website. As soon as I got ahold of a manager he honored the sale no questions asked.

Has Lenovo begun cancelling shipments of the laptop, and do they notify you of the cancellation? I ordered the lappy yesterday morning when the unbelievably cheap deal surfaced, and an email just got through telling me my laptop has shipped out. I just hope I won't have to complain to the reps and make them honor the sale.

They created shipping labels for many, but cancelled the shipment, so just go to their site and keep checking the order status. I got an email about it and called right away.

So... What's the best way to get them to honor the deal? My order isn't canceled yet, but this shipping label was printed. I'm assuming I'll get an email from them shortly telling me to pay more? lol

My guess is that they wasted all morning trying to cancel everyones order and they realized how long it would take and decided to honor the sales. Just keep checking your order status and if it gets cancelled call them asap. If they try to tell you they won't honor the sale just be patient and persistent. As long as you don't yell or cuss them out they can't really hang up on you and eventually they will have a manager call you back. They have bigger problems to deal with and will most likely honor it and move on.

I hope you're right. I was really looking forward to getting this laptop. It's been a good two years since I last upgraded and my current laptop was even mid-range back then.

Funny story about CS reps "not really being able to hang up on you". That may be true, but I'm still convinced a Comcast rep sabotaged my cable modem to get out of an online chat. Haha

Thanks for the tips, folks. I checked the UPS link and it seems that my laptop is currently in transit. Hopefully it's too late for Lenovo to call it back now.

I really look forward to getting this laptop. 1080p, decent dedicated GPU, Haswell CPU, all for $800? I was sold the moment I saw it. Maybe all the time checking and googling for deals, typo-ed or not, was totally worth it.

You'll love this laptop. I sent back my y410p only because I wanted to upgrade to the y510p. The only problems I have with it are that it's very finger print prone, and the trackpad. The trackpad is okay, but it's definitely not my favorite. The whole casing smudges very easily, but it looks really cool. It is a fake carbon fiber casing, and the backlit keys looks awesome in the dark. If I had to rate it on a "you get what you pay for" scale I would rate the exterior an 8/10 and the interior a 10/10. While I had the y410p (which has all the same specs as the y510p you and I ordered) I tested out skyrim, photoshop cc 14, and reason 5. Skyrim ran ultra high settings just fine. I didn't notice any lag whatsoever. Photoshop cc 14 ran perfect. Reason 5 is a beat producing program. I hooked up my axiom 49 midi controller (piano) and my focusrite saffire pro 14 interface (which had 2 bx5 studio monitors (speakers) plugged into it) and ran reason 5 just fine. I didn't notice a lag between me pressing a key on the midi controller to producing sound on the monitors. One thing I love is being able to stream movies from my laptop to my tv using my xbox360 using the "Play to" function. I haven't been able to game real hard or play piano for an extended amount of time yet so I can't testify to the heat, but I have never experienced the laptop getting hot. It gets warm, but the fan seems to do a pretty damn good job. I hadn't really done a review yet so I figured I'd post my testings here.

Great news! My tracking number is now active and my bank account has been charged. It'll be here on Tuesday!

Thanks for the tips! I'm not too worried about smudges. My current Samsung laptop is also a smudge magnet so I'm pretty used to it. I have an Xbox, but never used it to stream movies besides Netflix. Now that I have a Chromecast, I'll probably only use it for the occasional game...

Now that I know that my order went through and it's on the way, I'm super excited. Waiting until Tuesday is going to be a pain. :D
