So now my Y510p is taking longer time in opening a windows(make that a windows explorer or a program, etc) its not slow in perfomance but I notice it is way slower int opening things, any tips?
-
I wanted to do that but I don't have any copy of windows 8.
I already did that, looks like it's working, thanks -
Well, I just bit the bullet and placed an order for the blue-ray, sli bundle version of the Y510p for $1249.99 - should have it within the month!
-
its either sli or your blu ray drive
not both son -
Look up model number 59375627, you will find that it comes with both an ultrabay blueray drive and an ultrabay 750m. This is not something that is found on the Lenovo website and is sold out most everywhere that carried it (I was able to find one retailer that had it in stock, but that was mostly luck).
EDIT:
And, yes, I know that SLI and the Blue-Ray Drive cannot be used at once - still, the fact that the bundle includes both is a major plus as that saves me having to buy an optical drive (the version also has the 4700 and not the 4702, so that's another nice feature). -
I already learned the hard way not to use zippered cases, mine has some small abrasion marks near the bottom grille from the bundled lenovo case :/
-
Can you install a 7mm SSD in this beast ?
-
You can download it. Not from Microsoft anymore, unfortunately though. Just make sure you download the basic version and not pro

I am one of those apple fanatics with my MacBook LOL
-
Hello, does anybody know when Y510p's will be available in European shops? It has been a month or so and I still can't find a shop which would sell this model. Although, if anybody knows an online shop which sells this model, could anybody give me the link to it?
-
You guys should have waited unti today to order.. Unbelievable prices. $1231 for Y510p SLI (with student discount) and $1154 for blu-ray
-
I got both for $1249.99, so I'm happy.
-
How did you get that to happen?
-
He/She got one laptop with 2 drives that she can interchange.
Heck if you get 2 laptops for that price... OMG SHARE PLZ -
Look around online for the Model #59375627 version, it's sold out almost everywhere that carried it but I was able to find a New York Retailer that still had one in stock (I think I got the last one too, as it went to 'out of stock' right after I ordered).
-
I wish that it was two laptops... But, no, it was the drives like you described.
-
-
I'd go with the Y510P, if only because they're, if I understand correctly, opening the computer up a bit more (allowing you to do things such as running the Intel chipset).
-
Question for those who got the 4702mq, were you able to switch to iGPU ?
-
I actually just ordered the Y500 because of the Windows 7 downgrade problems with the Y510p.. We'' just have to see how it turns out. -
If it's the non-SLI version people have been able to.
-
In BF3 glitches and low FPS in SLI mode, in single-750m = high fps and no problems... ?
-
Hi, I want to know if you have to press FN + F2 to rename file or folder in Y510p or just F2 ?
-
Press F2.
I think
-
So anyone knows what could be going on with my pc? I think it's looking for the application first instead of just opening it, dunno how to fix that :/
-
How'd you drop the 1080 to 850 ?
-
Happened me too when i clean installed win8 pro with mcafee installed and microsoft updates ON. due to very slow in opening things again freshly wiped and installed os(win8 pro) again but no any mcafee and microsoft updates(OFF) this time. working normally and no problem till now. ofcourse this machine comes with mcfee preinstalled but dont know why it pisses me off when i install it seperately .
-
Go on Lenovo's website and shop as a student to get reduced pricing.
-
There's your problem... McAfee is almost a virus in and of itself (unless it's gotten better of late).
-
Would it be worth going an extra $200 for the Y510p?
-
Could you link that ?
I typed in student discount lenovo on google and I can't seem to get it to 850 . -
On the website near the top you will see a "Solutions" tab. Hover over that and click on students. Then enter the state and school to get reduced pricing.
-
I think we all get pretty fast cold boots times here with our laptops, but has anyone encountered really slow warm boots? Mine takes almost two minutes. Not from driver updates or anything, just a simple restart...
-
Yea, i got a few slow boots from after installing software that modifies the Windows Core and Boot files, you have to wait for those newly updated files to be cached.
It's something you will have to deal with, and is common with all Disk-Caching solutions, im afraid. Best thing to do would be to upgrade to full SSD storage, at the cost of storage space. -
Only for better battery life/a faster micro SSD that is harder to replace/5% power boost.
Personally, if you are getting a Single-GPU model, go for the Y510p, as it has optimus technology, otherwise get a Y500 to save costs. -
Amazon.com: Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p 15.6-Inch Laptop (Metal - Dusk Black): Computers & Accessories
Anybody know when the Y510P listed for pre-order on Amazon will be available? I'd rather buy this model for less than $1,100 than pay for what's on Lenovo's website. -

-
where did you download those drivers because I keep hearing on this site that the new drivers decreased users 3dmark11 scores. Thanks
-
Does anyone else think that if I want the SLI model, I should just go with the y500 instead of the y510p to save some money?
-
I wouldn't,but it really depends on how much you want the newer CPU and what your budget is.
-
I have a question. Can i put the OS on the 24gb SSD, Or is the SSD not made for that stuff? if I can how should i do it?
-
Windows will not fit on that 24gb ssd after windows update your looking at 35+gigs..
-
Is this one worth getting? cause the Y500 has like loads of hate towards it
Also is there a way to get more SSD memory on it or should i just buy an external SSD with it? -
Does anyone have some info on how to do a clean install. I have created a new DVD with the PID file i need to get the install to start, then the installer keeps saying I need a driver installed, but It's not the HD driver as I can browse the hard drive for drivers. Any thoughts on what driver it would be looking for. I get the driver missing message on a DVD and a USB install. I'm trying to install Window 8 Enterprise Edition.
-
Interesting deal, you keep the dual graphics but trade the 16 gb ram (8gb instead, easy to upgrade anyways) and no 24GB SSD for around $250 +/- save.
-
I know nothing about computers. That listing says it has a 750m, but you're saying it has two of them? How do you know if a computer has two graphics cards?
-
Does anyone know if the y510p on tigerdirect comes with a second graphics card?
m.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8176860
They didn't list anything about the ultrabay..
The model number is 59375625 -
Because of this, way bottom at the Description section:

Curious on this one too, as I can get cashback shopping at Tigerdirect. I don't see the part mentioning the dual graphics anymore.
