If you plan on doing that BE WARNED: you will need to buy another power adapter, the one you will get with a single GPU is not powerful enough to power two GPUs. A Lenovo rep told me it costs $80, so you are better of buying the SLI model, and getting the disc drive separately. (Or get a USB DVD drive, probably costs less, and no ultrabay swapping required)

Keep in mind those results are from SLI 510p; you are buying a single card one so expect around 70% of that as a guesstimate

edit for few posts below: oops nm, must have misread or confused it with another post thinking you're getting singe card one

@ashmedai, my laptop shipped real fast. I placed the order on last Thursday and the laptop shipped on Friday. I received it today evening. :) I ordered the non SLI model though. When ordering my estimated ship date was July 3rd.

Again, those benchmarks are for DDR3 750m, you can see that by clicking on any benchmark number to show the system configuration. GDDR5 750m in y510p should outperform GTX 660m ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M - NotebookCheck.net Tech). I have tested Dirt 3 and NFS: Most wanted 2012, both were set at 1080p, everything maxed out:

    2013-07-01 21:41:30 - NFS13
    Frames: 2428 - Time: 100891ms - Avg: 24.066 - Min: 17 - Max: 33 (23 for 660m, 20.4 for 750m DDR3 according to notebookcheck)

    2013-07-01 21:51:02 - dirt3_game (Finland snow track)
    Frames: 5789 - Time: 190766ms - Avg: 30.346 - Min: 24 - Max: 37
    2013-07-01 21:55:47 - dirt3_game (Kenya evening sun)
    Frames: 5050 - Time: 148672ms - Avg: 33.967 - Min: 28 - Max: 40
    ( 29.5 for 660m according to notebookcheck)

@AMzlThomaslz I'll benchmark BF3 both on your settings and everything maxed out to compare to 660m.
On a side note, my laptop shipped with hd4600 enabled, I can easily choose between the cards in Nvidia control panel, or when starting a program, furthermore, when starting a program intel hd 4600 is marked as default. Maybe they do this on single gpu configurations?

You're lucky, my estimated ship date is July 29, and I placed my order on June 27th, If takes too long, I will get cash back from Lenovo, at least that's what they told me.
And BTW , is your screen anti glare, or regular glossy?, sales rep said only first batch was anti glare, but only partially. I'm wondering if they changed the actual screen or just the description because people complained

I just checked lenovo website. Only the SLI model has an estimated ship date of 7/29. The model is very popular I guess. :) My screen is anti glare even though lenovo Website says it's glossy! Earlier, I was disappointed that I missed on ordering the anti glare model. Now it's a pleasant surprise! I'm not sure if the screen is 100% matte but it's good enough for me.

I got a replacement laptop with the dual graphics, cuz the one they sent me had a dead pixel o.o
Anyway, it's the exact same thing, no first batch, second batch stuff. Both have matte (as far as I can tell) screens.

If it doesn't look like a mirror when the system is off it's matte. Glossy screens you can clearly see your reflection on the display when it's powered off.

Yes they do that on the single GPU configs. Maybe they are shipping them with those drivers installed now.

Good catch, I just read it through now, it says the 750m with GDDR5 may even match the 670m which makes it a class 1 card, so perhaps their 750m SLI estimated position on the list should be higher as well

Hey guys, I've been reading this thread a long while and have had my 510 for a month now. Have been overall pleased with it, stays cooler than my dv7 while gaming SLI, performance is good enough for the price.

Question though, my 24GB m.2 drive does not appear to be caching or even have that option in Intel RST. It's just another drive which seems pointless to me. My dv7 has a 32GB caching SSD and I know that works. Anyone else with the same error? If anyone's interested, you can OC the primary 750M decently without too much added heat (75 primary, 84 ultrabay). Took it up 100 on the core and 200 on memory.

These 3DMark scores are not OC'd, though.

    63852 Ice Storm
    12048 Cloud Gate
    3020 Fire Strike

Drivers are complete garbage, Nvidia needs to fix that. We'll see scores rise soon.

Has anyone found a hard drive caddy that works in the Ultrabay? I have the dual video card version... but I'm not a gamer (it was all they had available at the time). I bought a 9.5mm caddy, but it does not seem to work.

Lenovo uses ExpressCache instead of Intel RST. Start command prompt as administrator and run the following command: "eccmd.exe -info". That should give you the details of your SSD cache and how it's being used. More info in this thread.

By the way, has anyone tried installing Linux? What's the deal with UEFI and installing linux? From the looks of it, there seems to be lot of steps to get it working.

So when you put the Ultrabay attachment back in, does the driver have to be uninstalled every time or what? Or does iGPU option just not show up when the Second 750M is inserted?

Does Optimus auto switching work when on single 750M?

Do you or does anyone else know what adapter the Fry's model that has both BD and SLI Ultrabay attachment uses? I want to get Lenovo to match that model with my warranty exchange for my Y570 that 've already had to exchange once because it Windows would give a bluescreen after the boot animation,

I don't know for sure, but if it includes the ultrabay graphics, it most likely will come with the high power adapter. Currently, you can't buy the Blu Ray ultrabay separately from Lenovo, so you probably won't be able to get an exact match.

Ok so I've had my Y510p for a week and I absolutely enjoy it, except I have had some trouble with the wifi. I'm new to windows 8 so I don't know if it's a driver problem or a windows bug. It sometimes disconnects from my wifi and when I click the empty bars with the star to connect again, the connections never appear, I try the troubleshooter and it doesnt work, then i try to disable it and I can't disable it, it doesn't respond, so i try to shut it down and it closes everything but it never shuts down it just stays with a black screen and i have to hold the power button. Any idea what I can do to fix it? It has happened twice, and I don't like to hold the power button I have had bad experiences by doing that.

Have you tried unchecking "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"? Click "Configure" in the Wifi adapter properties window, then go to the Power management tab.

I've gone through write a few laptops in the past few months and one thing I have learned is the default operating system settings do not agree with my home. Y500, u310, Asus s400ca have all had issues with Wi-Fi dropping. Additionally, my ps3 likes to drop connection when I would turn any of these laptops on. The solution? Reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 8. I can't explain it but I never had any issues after doing that. I wish I knew why but I don't care enough to go back and troubleshoot. Might not work for you but it could be with a shot

Damn you make us sound like a bunch of morons, when we purchased the computer it was 4700, it just recently got changed, so who's fault is that? If I would have known it was the 4702 then i would have put that into consideration. Yes we do realize.

Will the 4702 vs 4700 make a difference for gaming? It's still a 4th gen i7, right? Doesn't it come down to the GPU ?

Do new Y510Ps come with matte or glossy screens?
I am seeing conflicting information on this.
I keep on hearing that matte versions are no longer offered.

No caddy, I just opened the bottom and replaced the internal 1TB drive. I have the SLI version so my ultrabay is occupied. I cloned the original drive first using Acronis 2013 so that the entire setup was done at SSD speed.

Help deciding guys. I am so torn between 2 laptops that could not be more different. I have both a Y510p (Dual Graphics) and a Thinkpad T430 (max spec, with i7, nvs 5400m). I am torn because I love the build quality of the Thinkpad, and although it is not made for this, it can handle some light gaming. The Y510p has a much much better screen and specs, but I am worried about the longevity of this computer and am not sure how long this machine would last me. Any thoughts as to what I should do? I am not a heavy gamer, I play some FPS and Guild Wars 2, and probably FF online when it is re-released. But I also use this for college work as well. Any thoughts that anyone could give me to help me make a decision on which one to keep?

If I were in college, I would choose the better build quality. The y510p build quality isn't the worst I've seen but it's far from tough. It's a good gaming laptop for light travel, but if you're using it for college(and bringing it with you daily) you should look at it as disposable and hope for the best or choose a better build quality(and more expensive) option

That is very true, I know that they build quality on the Thinkpads is much much higher. With that said, the Y510p has a pretty decent build as well, although it doesn't have the makings of something that would survive a drop. I paid $980.00 new for the dual graphics and got a 2 year warranty included with it (Lenovo owed me so I got a good deal), I got the Thinkpad for $511 from them on the outlet. As you can see, a huge difference in cost, but I got both of them at an exceptional deal. I am also looking that with the y510p I have a much larger and surprisingly high quality screen, although with the Thinkpad it is 1600x900, but the screens quality just sucks (this is a known fact). Also I get a quad core processor if I keep the y510p and have the new architecture in Haswell, I have more memory as well, so it puts me in a really tough spot. Both machines are good I just wonder if the Y510p will be good enough to survive (not counting the possibility of drops, etc).

Personally, I'd keep the Y510 (The 1080p screen is outstanding) and just invest in a sleeve and a nice backpack and treat it like those Apple fanatics who baby their laptops everywhere they go. :)

I actually returned my y500 and am patiently waiting for the y510p to hit the outlet. If I can get one under $600, I'll look at it as disposable and won't mind as much if it falls apart in 3 years.

That is what I am wanting, but I know that the latter makes more sense....better build and half the cost. But damn the y510p is just so nice. The usability is so good, and since it has the matte screen it is still viable to use other than a low lit room in your house lol. The T430 is usable, but dam, after looking at the screen for the y510p for so long and then looking at the joke of the screen on the T430, the screen is alone is deterring me....

Have you looked into replacing the screen? Juliant, another user on the forum, had access to replace the screens of the y500 and y400 somehow. It's possible those same screens could fit your ThinkPad

I just ordered my y510p. Over here (malaysia) you cant get the SLI version yet. So I got the single card version with the 4700MQ. The plan is to buy the second card separately. However, I just noticed that the GN36 ( http://gtech.my/product/laptop/Lenovo_Q2_04.jpg) is advertised as being compatible with the y500. anyone know if I can get it to run on the y510p as well?

I have been looking all over the web (Google) and I cannot find anywhere that clearly says what panel you can get to replace the crappy T430 screen. If it had a better screen I might just go with it. But the Y510p, on top of being able to game, is just seeming like an overall better buy for everything in terms of usability. The experience is better, I never appreciated a screen so much after using this one. lol Plus, hot dam it games very well lol.

I know. I bought a cheap outlet z585 for my grandkids and the screen is garbage compared to the Y510. Still though they game for hours on it with the AMD 7660 and looks great on mid-range games like SC2 and D3. The Y510 display is awesome, couple that with gaming goodness and there's no way I'd settle for a T430. Though I have a Mac for work so my Y510 is just a gaming system.

So do you think I should just keep the Y510p and return the T430? Do you think the Y510p is capable of being my workhorse laptop? I'm just worried about it failing with all the high performance parts in it. I know the Thinkpads are built to last, but they can't touch the media capability of y series. The only other option I could think of if I must get a Thinkpad is to go with a T530 with the FHD maybe?

Only the SLI model has the 4702mq and it doesn't seems like it's available in Canada yet or something.
Here's the US site IdeaPad Y510p High-Performance 15.6" Multimedia Laptop from Lenovo | Lenovo (US)

And on another note, I think I'm going to order the y510p and see what happens.

The difference in power between the 4702 and the 4700 is incredibly tiny + you wont notice anything unless running CPU intensive software/emulators.

If you are playing standard games, .2ghz wont make a big difference, and if you want to play emulators, just dont use a laptop, most games need 3+ ghz to run properly anyways.
