I ordered the Y510p with the 1366x768 screen and i was wondering
1. When will the 750m ultrabay become available in case i want to upgrade in the future
2. Can you install a SSD if the one i ordered doesn't ship with one
-
Guys check please, in y510p you have DDR4 or DDR3l?
-
So, someone on the y410p thread posted that the screen isn't matte it's "anit-glare". He also posted a picture and it looks pretty glarey.
Can anyone confirm if this is the same for the y510p. -
So has anyone been able to enable the hd 4600 on the y510p sli version yet?

Hey who did you call at lenovo a sales rep or just customer service. Thanks -

If you got i7-4702QM, you are essentially getting Y500 with 750m. (4th gen 2.2ghz and 3rd gen 2.4 ghz) And minus the ability to use msata slot.

Has anyone here done a fresh install of windows and tried to update the nvidia drivers? The drivers on D:/ lenovo for nvidia work fine, although 320.18 and .14 will not install, saying it can't find compatible hardware. Also, rapid storage wouldn't install when downloaded from intel direct, but only would through the included driver. Any suggestions (mainly for the graphics). For anyone who's planning on doing a fresh install, you have to make the flash drive UEFI bootable. I sat for over an hour trying to install, but it appears that my flash drive and the y510 don't get along, and it wouldn't boot. If I clicked the novo button with the drive in, the machine would go into a bootloop. A new flash drive later and I was all good to go Remember to install expresscache to get the SSD to kick in

Yeah! Personally I expect to get what I ordered (in this case 2.4 ghz intel 4700 mq) not some cheaper variant becuase they damn ran out. Its not even like it was a mislabeling issue since on the parts list site lenovo has, it says they put in a 4702 mq. I personally need the 200 mhz per core that I'm missing out on, and I care not about battery life for the most part because it'll be plugged in most of the time. I called the sales reps today and they kept me on hold for near 45 mins and didn't do ! I'm going to call back tomorrow and demand a 10%discount or else! Lenovo needs to be taught a lesson.
Also don't let sales reps tell you that the 4702 mq is better because it hasn't been really released yet or that 200 mhz per core is not significant, because it is! -
I agree with you totally this is a gaming laptop 200mhz makes a big difference.

Hi All,
Don't mean to hijack this thread but don't know where to turn.
Just got the lenovo Y510P with the dual graphics. Like the computer alot...still getting used to win 8 though. All is well except that Firefox shows very small font/browser. IE is fine but not FF. Googled and found nothing useful other than someone suggesting various FF add ons but even if they work they are a bandaid rather than a solution for the problem.
Has anyone had a similar experience...or have any suggestions?
I tried lenovo "support" pffft. After alot of passing me around the depts. was finally told that I could either pay lenovo to fix, as it is outside the warranty, or maybe resetting will help. I'm not paying for lenovo to make the machine, which should already work, to work properly and would really rather not hae to reload all my A/V etc.
thanks. -
Has anyone noticed that the y510p wifi is a bit slow. My old computers internet speeds were way faster. idk maybe its just comcast today or something

1325AIR, download a Firefox extension called NoSquint. It will allow you to set the zoom level in Firefox.

Has everyone who got the y510p got 4702mq instead of 4700?
I talked to 3 sales rep today and all of them said its a safe purchase and if I order now, I will get a 4700mq for sure, I got screenshots of the conversation if anyone want to see. -

a gaming laptop, paid more then y500, worst graphics card, worst cpu..... World is over for me..... how can i be so stupid.... -
-
-
-
I'm so confused as to what's going on right now.
-
Which uses less energy, but also less performance, dats what I will be receiving tmr, AND GONA COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.....
and according to the feedback from ^^^^^ above.
I will be getting a sli 750m graphics card instead of a 720m as a dual graphics, which is good, saves me
2-3 hundred bucks to buy a upgrade in future release.
The monitor, that I will be getting, i suspect would be different from the ones ppl got from Newegg.com
The Lucky bunch who got theirs from Newegg, would hv, 4700, a better monitor, & hv been told that they wil lget 750m before buying.
Thanks Lenovo for this -

Even though I've researched how laptops are supposed to run hot when under heavy usage and people even posting temps on this thread, I'm still a little iffy about it all...
What temps are all of you getting when running games? I've hit pretty high temps in games such as Battlefield 3, Crysis 3, etc.
I'm just being a little cautious here, since this is my first ever laptop I bought. -

Can someone with a y510p do me a favor? I just received the y410p and the bezel on this thing is huge. I was wondering if they just took the y510p and just put a 14 inch screen on it.
Can one of you measure the top lid from bottom left to top right? I want to compare it to my y410p and see if maybe the screen from a y510p will fit into it. This is mainly out of curiosity, but it would be cool if we could upgrade it later. -
Samsung Model ST1000LM024 P/N HN-M101MBB/LC1 1TB HDD 5400rpm
LiteOnIT LSS-24L6G 24GB SSD (some new form factor - NOT mSATA)
Before I ever powered the system up I removed and cloned the 1TB drive to a Samsung 840 500GB SSD using Acronis 2013 and deleted the Volume (some proprietary unreadable format for caching the slow 5400rpm 1TB drive) on the 24GB SSD and create a usable NTFS volume.
The system is remarkably fast. It boots in under 8 seconds. It's also significantly smaller and lighter than the M17xR3 it replaced.

RAGE ON THOSE LIERS!!!!! -

One little thing I just noticed is the lack of 5Ghz support on the included WiFi card. That was rather disappointing since I run all my secured wireless traffic over 5Ghz but since this is for games only I guess 2.4Ghz is ok but it's something I should have caught before buying. There are a few little trade offs to get this light machine with gaming power at this price point. No eSATA, no Blu-ray, and now no 5Ghz WiFi.
However, it's still a great value.
Cheers, -
please anyone who got the y510p from lenovo
we need a confirmation about the type of the ram ( we already know that the processor is 4702 ) but what about the ram and how much will it affect the performance ??
