Wich games are the most graphic heavy you have? And how good its handling them? Ultra? How much on fps? Do you have Battlefield 3? Crysis 3? Bio Shock Infinite?

    Thank You.

Battlefield 3 on almost ultra (shaders down to high) gives me 50fps. I don't have Crysis but might buy BioShock. Here is a video of someone already trying it out on his y500, so expect a couple of fps better that Lenovo Y500 GT750m playing Crysis 3 in SLI - YouTube

I was able to disable SLI in the Nvidia Control panel here:

    physx.png

I did enable "physx" as the "CPU" which I think just offloads certain processes. It still uses the main 750M but maybe under clocked? I did a 3D mark test with these set and the battery unplugged:

So I've been looking everywhere but it looks like there's no place in Canada that carries 750m SLI model. Why is it that only US version of Newegg and Lenovo have this model for sale? Even the price is much less for some products. Given that my laptop is 5-year-old that can barely handle Starcraft 2 in low settings, I wanted a decent budget gaming laptop and came across Lenovo Y510P 750m SLI but I just can't find it anywhere..
Does anybody know where to buy it in Canada? Your advice will be very much appreciated.

I am so upset... I finally got the money today to go to Fry's electronics and buy the Y510p and they just ran out of stock. Sadly they don't know when they will be getting more in. So now I'm on hold for a call to say they are in stock.

Can you test 3dmark 11 with the new nvidia drivers 320.18 for the sli model, Then do another test with a overclock using nvidia inspector say 135mhz on core and 300-350 on memory.

Trust me, I've been looking every day for it in Canada and have been refreshing newegg.ca / lenovo canada's website daily too. It really sucks that Canada has not yet received the GT 750M SLI model. I am considering using a US mailbox and ordering it from Lenovo US, however, what's keeping me back is that the warranty is not valid in Canada. If anyone knows how/where to grab a dual graphics model in Canada, please let us know!

I ordered mine (single 750m, not SLI sadly) last night and I just got an email saying it's shipped and will arrive on Thursday the 13th. I'm quite surprised based on how many threads I've read now with regards to shipping going weeks or even months on end. This is my first time ever buying from Lenovo so I was quite skeptical about it.

Hi can you tell me how this works please because I tried to figure it out and click on shop now, it just takes me to Lenovo and then thats it, how does the whole cash back work and how do you know for sure it is valid for the y510p, and would this work if I get the deal on the phone done with them? If you have experience with that cash back thing and can help me out it would be appreciated, thank you.

Should be a nice increase in graphics power for such a mild cost gaming laptop. Plus from what others have found, the Integrated gpu is unlocked in the y510p so you can have both great performance and you also have the option to turn it off and get Fair battery life. That's not normal for a gaming laptop to have the ability to get awesome battery life, so I'm pretty stoked :p

got the mouse. but unfortunately, i like my logitech mouse better. the mouse is not that sensitive and i am kind of shocked to see that it doesn't always work on a mouse pad??? but on a flat table surface, it works like a charm.

but not comfortable. the mouse is shallow and and i wish the arc was higher to support the palm of my hand. i typically move the mouse with the strength of my palm and with this mouse, i need to move it with my fingers since i can't get a grip with my palm.

I had my first issue with my Y510P, I noticed my battery was really low but the laptop was plugged in. Looking at the battery icon showed the plug next to it but when I put my cursor over it and it read "plugged in not charging?!?! Never have seen that before. I googled this issue and it seeme the Y580 had this issue, you need to download some app and look at what the battery says it's mwh is listed at, then you need to hold the power button in for 30 seconds.

Anyways long story short that fixed my issue and my laptop started charging again.

Come to think of it, I changed a battery setting to make the battery last longer (ie wont have to replace it as soon). If it comes up again I will see if thats the setting that caused the issue.

Thanks bro, I think it will handle Battlefield 4 just nice then since its basically the same engine. :D

Thanks but.... hmmm... I dont like this kind of sites.. they direct you to the official website but with their logo on... like a mask, then you make a purchase inputing you credit card number while on their redirected interface... hmmm not cool... =/

    You guys think its safe?

Eck... that sounds scary, because what if you dont make it on time to make the fix and your battery run out :S

I would not recomend that personally. I was a passionated Windows 8 hater, and by using this laptop I ended understanding how superior Windows 8 is, mostly people get scared of Metro UI to start with, wich can be totally ignored by just clicking the Desktop icon and then going to the normal Windows 7 interface. Drivers management, boot time, perfomance, task manager, other devices management, everything its improved on Win 8.

Not yet and the options are not looking too great either. See my post a few pages back. In short, Lenovo chose the shortest NGFF slot option in which most manufacturers are only going to make low capacity SSDs for. You might see 128GB from someone(Sandisk claims to be making one) but it will likely be a long time before they minimize tech enough to make 256GB and above options in a slot that small. Hopefully I'm worng and we see something in a month, but I contacted 4 companies directly and none of them had plans for 256GB NGFF drives at the 42mm form factor. I'm considering keeping my Y500 because of this unfortunately...

I am in the same boat as well. I cancelled my order for Y500 today only to find out that y510p uses NGFF. Good news is that Intel 530 NGFF (80/180gb config) is supposed to come out Q2 of 2013.

But hmm. Ugh. The thing is that they are using the smallest form factor which is for caching. I doubt we will see any high density SSDs in the future. Though 80gb would be plenty for me.

I saw the ones from Intel - I just couldn't find any relevant info that wasn't 6 months old. 180GB I could deal with but not 80GB. I cancelled my Y510p order after my last post. I think I'm going to wait a couple months and see how things turn out. I'm still going to return my Y500 since they gave me the chance to though. Stinks letting a good deal like the one I got go, but maybe I'll get an even better one from the outlet store. :) I built a new desktop rig for super cheap so I can live a couple months without this until something pops up.

I was planning for 1 x msata (OS) and 2 HDDs for Y500 and later Y510p. Now, that plan has horribly been broken up that I feel like drinking.
Ultrabay for 510p is yet to come. "Contact us by end of June" a rep told me. And NGFF is currently MIA. It seems few are available in Asia though.

I should cancel my 510p order as well before it ships out. It looks like Lenovo has a ton of them. I placed an order for it few hours ago and it is already ready to ship. It seems only Clevo/Sager fits my storage needs currently. Their 15inch get pack msata and 3 HDDs.

Talked to a rep, assuming its all correct:
Integrated graphics can be used if you pop out the SLI card
Supposedly the SSD is NOT removable (sounds fishy to me)
Can't opt in for the extended warranty if you buy from a 3rd party retailer

I talked to 2 reps. They both said there was slightly internal design change and the ultrabay from Y500 series is incompatible. Anyways, I called and submitted my cancellation. I think I will research Clevo and Sager now.

The NGFF SSD in Y510p is removable. A user in this thread removed it and took few screenshots. But there is currently no consumer NGFF SSD cards available.

For booting and commonly used files. It's faster than a plain hard drive but not as fast as booting from a SSD. The cache drives typically have read speeds of 100-150Mb/s but there's no way to tell how good this one is until someone benchmarks it.

thank you for the info, I figured an ssd would be faster. windows 8 gives a 5.4 score for the hd but I doubt it factors the cache drive into it but I'm not sure.

Yeah they don't take the cache drive into account. The only reliable way would be to format it as a logical drive and run benchmarking software on it. Unfortunately, you have to do that right when you get the laptop because if you turn off caching in the bios after you start using Windows for a while, you risk breaking your os.

Ok guys just got back from Fry's with my Y510p, I have been using it for about an hour now. Sadly I have no games yet because im at a friends house, and his internet is just terrible. But so far im loving the laptop so far. I will say this though, compared to my old MSI GT60, it feels a bit "cheaper". Dont get me wrong it still feels very premium and very nice, but it feels a bit toyish. But definitely not in a complete bad way. Maybe its just me, i really dont know. Besides that I love this laptop. The keyboard is excellent and to me its the best keyboard I have used on a laptop. Very springy and just nice to the touch. Track pad is..... well its just like everyone says. Its not the greatest, but it can definitely be used, even for a long time. One thing I really noticed is how nice the display is. I thought my MSI GT60 had an amazing display and this thing looks even sharper. I was playing Minecraft for a bit (Since its quick to download and play) and everything just looked so sharp and crisp. I am downloading Warframe right now since that is what me and my friend will be playing, but that is an easy game to play, so i know this laptop will be able to max it out easily. I will run some benchmarks later when I get home, but for now I can answer any questions if you guys have any.
