How long did your T60 take to ship

Mine took a couple of days after shipment for the parts info to load.

It's been almost a week since the laptop arrived, and the warranty info from the same page still shows 1-yr despite the fact that I purchased 3-yr onsite. I wonder if I should contact them, or just wait a bit more?

Just got the shipment notice for my T60 today!

I know they're doing production over the weekend, but didn't know they actually shipped them out on Saturdays.

I'm glad I waited and not to much longer now.

 

My shipping status says this:

FEDERAL COMMUNICATION COMMISSION REQUIRES ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PRIOR TO RELEASE.

It's current location is Louisville, KY. What does that mean?

 

Mine says the same thing. I don't know what it means.

 

I believe someone mentioned this means it's tied up in US Customs. It doesn't take long for them to release it.

 

Well it looks like i'm getting the LG display but I don't know about the keyboard, DVD Drive or Ram.

Here's my parts breakdown:

I can't find anything on the keyboard numbers either. All of them start with 39 on the parts list, but mine's a 42-series as well.

Well after Google searching the rest of the parts here's what I found:

DVD/RW multilayer drive is also made by LG.

Memory module is made by Kingston.

I haven't found anything on the keyboard.

That DVD Drive is an HLDS (Hitachi-LG), I believe, but I don't know about the RAM. I also got the unknown keyboard, LG screen, and my other FRU's match yours (except keyboard). Seems like I got almost the same exact computer as you (almost)

You could be right about the DVD drive, are the Hitachi-LG drives reliable/good?

I placed my order on 4/27. Up until yesterday morning, the estimated ship date noted 5/23 with a status of "In Process". I just received an e-mail saying that it was shipped on 5/12. I had selected standard shipping (for free) - but the UPS tracking site shows that it is being shipped as "Express" with a scheduled delivery of 5/15 - so that was a nice surprise. The part number lookup does not seem to have been updated yet.

Here is a quick summary of the main components:

I wasn't expecting it to ship this weekend and was seriously considering cancelling it in favor of a T61P. I'm just not sure if I will like a 14.1: widescreen (vs. the 15.4 on this one). I then started thinking about waiting for the T61P's with the built in camera (we do video conferences with offshore developers twice a month, so it would have been nice).

This was such a great deal though.

 

Now Lenovo completely confused me, I can't see any logic in their shipping dates. I ordered same config three days earlier and still in progress. I am not mad at you man, just don't understand.

 

It's pretty obvious they don't believe in the tried and true manufacturing method called (FIFO) first in, first out. I think what they are using instead is a giant lottery wheel. They put all the orders into the wheel then they spin it and whoever's name comes out that's the machine they build.

 

My UPS status shows the same thing, I think "Express" is what they call their international ground service in this case. Anyway, just checked the tracking, and it's already in KY and it shipped yesterday; currently "warehoused" with a rescheduled delivery of tomorrow.

Also, it looks like mine shipped from HK, where I know some have come from another city in China (can't spell it ). Maybe they have two facilities?

Rodknee, when is yours scheduled to land at your doorstep? I'm trying to figure out if there is any logic to their delivery dates.

 

The last I checked it was held up in Customs in Ky as of this morning and it was just scanned with a delivery date of tomorrow.

 

I also have a delivery date of tomorrow yay.

BTW, anyone have any information on the new FRUs for the keyboards?

 

Mine has a delivery date of tomorrow but it is being warehoused until it is cleared. Don't see how it would be possible to get here tomorrow.

 

Ditto to eggfun - what's the deal with the 42-series keyboards?

Mine came through Shenzhen to Guangzhou, with no indication that it's in the US yet.

I just cancelled my order and bought the better T60 on ebay.
Apparently this guy bought 5 configured T60 at really cheap price during April sale period and selling it on ebay at two hundred dollars more than he paid.
It was the same price that I paid from buying off of lenovo.com so I just bought his which was totally fine by me.

 

Just checked, and I apparently got the LG WSXGA panel as well.

Important parts breakdown:

LCD: 13N7019 13N7020

Keyboard: 42T3109 42T3143

HDD: 42T1031

 

Not sure why those would come up differently, but pretty much it goes like this. The first number is the manufacturers part # and the second is Lenovo's FRU #. The FRU is what we're using to identify parts because that is what Lenovo uses in their parts directory for the different components.

I'm not sure why the first number came up as Samsung, but pretty much if the FRU starts with 13xxxxx then it's the LG, if it starts with 42xxxxx then it's Samsung. These are all part numbers from using a parts lookup though, just in case anyone might confuse it with the parts listed in the order confirmation email which are more of general part numbers used by the ordering system to reference a specific config option.

 

So I assume no one has actually recieved a T61 yet?

I got a killer deal on mine $1,000~ decked out the night before they bumped up the price about $100, but I'm thinking of giving the T61P's a look once they come out since I'm not a big fan of widescreen.

 

I received by T60 last week after a gruelling 45 order process. I had no delay during the customs process, it got here over night. I already received the credit for the delay in shipping. When you have problems, be sure to escalate it to the complaint dept/customer relations, do not fuss with the regular customer reps. See my message in page 33.

Despite the LONG wait, I am very happy with the system. I got the LP screen, it is bright and crisp. It came up in 1680x1050 resolution, I was very impressed. I have tested and installed all my core software and not problems so far!!! The max sound is a little weak, but I can live with that. I had the system operational in about 40 minutes. It took me about 20 minutes to get the wireless working and ended up using the ThinkVantage Connection manager. All systems are go now.

It's a solid machine, quite and not heavy. Now I hope it last for a few years!

Customs delayed my T60 a day as well. It says it has been released now, so hopefully the new date of tomorrow is accurate.

 

That's what I was expecting as well. Hopefully it will ship out tomorrow. I think all they do is check the paperwork to make sure it's legit.

So it looks like the 5/15 date is not going to happen. I did check the parts and I do have an LG screen (for those that are interested).

Also, I called the 888 number today and they told me the release date of the T61's with the larger screens, different video card options and built-in camera is June 5th. Interestingly, when I'd spoken to them last week, they did not yet have an official release date.

 

Well my T60 has left customs so it looks like either tomorrow or Thursday for me.

Great.....don't know what this means for me.

 

It simply means you were supposed to get it first, instead customs saw an overseas package and due to 9/11 it was intercepted before you got it. Once it was cleared as safe they rerouted the package to the correct address.

My message says the same thing and now shows it leaving customs in KY so hopefully i'll get it in a day or so.

Just checked my status, and it's now out for delivery!

I did check it last night as well, and delivery date changed to 5/16 for a little while (not sure why) but then changed back to 5/15. Ahh, UPS and their estimates...

Anyway, here's hoping everyone else's packages get delivered soon! The wait is almost over.

Well bad news for me. Customs has had my laptop for 3 days and they still have not cleared it for delivery. I called Lenovo and they couldn't help me out because i'm still within the 3-5 business day shipping rule.

This thread should be cancelled. It's pretty obvious that shipping sucks..unless the first guy didn't get his laptop yet...we should wait for him to say he got it..no I didn t read all FORTY FIVE pages....that tells me everything I Need to know

 

Gee, I ordered mine on 4/28. Received it on 5/7, 10 days before the promised ship date.

 

Since Saturday

Mine is stuck in Louisville too with exactly the same status as the others.

 

That's weird. I had the same stuck-in-Louisville UPS message, but it became unstuck the same day. And my fast order-to-delivery interval even had the week-long holiday in China in the middle of it. Hmm, makes me wonder if they might have neglected to install a few key components, since it was extra fast work after a whole week of partying.

It's clear that they are incredibly inconsistent about it, anyway, and that's no way to ensure customer loyalty.

 

At least you guys are getting updates. My laptop was last seen on 5/12 in Guangzhou, with no updates since.

 

I don't blame Lenovo for this. It has more to do with US Customs and after 9/11 I just need to be a little more patience I guess.
