They typically ship before then. And as long as you didn't order the WSXGA+ screen, yours should ship out in a week or two.

cvec7, you received your T60 yet? By the way what's the latest update about the WSXGA+ shipment. Lenovo is going to cancel all wide screen orders?

I still have not recieved mine yet. I was going to call my guy at lenovo and have him see if he could give me a confirmed ship date, but I simply forgot to today. I'm going call on Monday though.
When I called on Wednesday, the supply dept. at lenovo was not able to give an answer as to when the WSXGA+ screens would come in.
And I haven't heard anything about Lenovo canceling all WS orders.

cvec7, thanks for the info. From your case, I guess we all wondering is Lenovo really going to work this out. I really don't want to find out they'll extend the delay at the last date (which is in yr case).

Lenovo should have let the customer know if their item is out of stock in the first place, not 3 weeks after.

Is your T60p Pre-Configured version? Did you use discounts such as stockholder 15%?

I heard Pre-Configure ships out much faster than customized version

    Let us know Thanks

Preconfigured 8744-J2U. Used the stockholder thing, stacked with the then-existing American Express "tailor made" 15% discount.

As for the pre-configured machines shipping out faster, I found out that doesn't make that huge of a difference. They apparently don't keep much "in stock" of pre-built machines, so even the pre-configured stuff is built to order. The only difference is that the CTO builds have to spend an extra day or two while someone shoves in different RAM, installs a different OS image, or whatever. (This information derived from talking with various leveno execs in marketing and sales departments - meaning its not entirely reliable..)

Also, there was no mention of them canceling all WS orders.

I also called in today, after a considerable wait time I managed to get a rep on the phone. First he said that there have been some issues related with the supply of high resolution wide screens, at this point I mentioned that earlier I was told that there were some issues with the .11n wireless cards and my system should be in the build stage around 04/16 and I should expect shipping around 04/19. This made the rep contact his supply manager, after sometime he says that indeed there was a problem with the supply of wireless cards (which I now doubt, I think previously I was given wrong information and the shortage was indeed with the WS displays), however, he now says that I should expect shipping between this wednesday and friday. I dont know how authentic this information will be, because of my past experience with lenovo customer service. He also put my system on the so called "priority list", I anyway dont trust lenovo anymore, had it not been that I waited for a month I would have cancelled the order. we will see....

Guys Thanks for the update. I read another post from cvec7 that Lenovo is cutting their US workforce. I have a strong feeling that our shipment may very well be affected by their new make over plan. Lenovo is just using the IBM brand to sugar coat their own product/service. After all maybe we just have to accept that we are buying a "Lenovo" Thinkpad not an "IBM" Thinkpad.

I really miss the good old IBM Blue Giant........ :(

Can someone clarify what is considered a high resolution 15.4" screen? I ordered a T60 with a 15.4" WSXGA+TFT screen. Is that considered hi-res? and I haven't figured out what the +TFT stands for?

My T60 is still on track to be shipped on 5/15...keeping fingers crossed. ;)

Thew WSXGA+ is considered the hi-res screen. TFT is just the type of display.

Hey mag, do you remember the name of the rep you spoke to? I was told pretty much the same story..supposed to be built on the 16th, then ship out on the 19th...obviously that did not happen. :(
My rep is supposed to get back to me tomorrow, and so we'll see if he tells me the same thing.. (ship between wed and fri)

I just called Lenovo today, and was a bit disappointed. When asked why it was taking so long to ship, the guy simply responded by saying something about stock and that "It's the laptop itself" that is taking long. I asked if it was the screen, wireless card, etc. that was out of stock, and he just said again "No, its the laptop."

I also asked if I could request to get the LG screen instead of the samsung, and he just said "Nope, you get what comes with it."

I'm starting to get a sneaking suspicion that these backorders might be due to Lenovo trying to hoard enough parts including LCD screens for the launch of the new Santa Rosa laptops next month. They might be willing to lose potential sales now in order to supply enough Santa Rosa laptops.

This maybe similar to the problem Sony had when trying to launch the Playstation 3 last year. They were experiencing a shortage of blue diodes for the PS3 and commercial Blu Ray players. They opted to use their stock of blue diodes for the Playstation 3 instead.

I have no facts to back this up, it's just a hunch. ;)

Well, I spoke to my guy today. Supposed to be built thursday, and shipped Monday... We'll see.

Yea eggfun, some reps at lenovo simply are not worth the organs they're made of. If you call again, try asking for Johnathan, ext # 32992. He's who I've been speaking to, he's great...best support rep I've ever spoken to from any company ever.

So I ordered my T60 on 4/21 and my estimated ship date is 5/14 if you ask me that seems pretty ridiculous, these are my specs:

    Windows XP Home
    Processor: Core 2 Due T7200 2 GHZ 4MB L2 Cache
    Display: 14.1” TFT SXGA+ 1400x1050
    Graphics: ATI Radeon X1400 – 128MB
    RAM: 1GB DDRII PC2-5300
Hard Drive: 100 GB 7200 RPM
Optical Drive: DVD Burner / CD Burner
    Battery: 9 Cell Lithium ion

From what I have read the Wide screen is the cause of most shipping delays, however I did not order the wide screen so I'm not sure why my ship date is nearly a month out. If it is really going to take this long I may very well cancel and order an HP with santa rosa.....

Once again, they always over-estimate their ship dates on purpose so they rarely have to push them back like they had to do to me. Yours should ship out in approx. two weeks. Also, look for some other lenovo forums on teh interwebs, and see if anyone on there who ordered a 14" T60 is experiencing a delay.

    Cvec7, you are the best!

Thank you so much for being on these forums and giving the assurance and insight you have!

My order was suppose to ship 5/10, but it's already shipped as of today!

I hope everything is right with it as i've read reviews where things were missing or not installed correctly (minor things like logos coming off)

Thank you again! I hope everyone in this thread gets their items in a timely manner..

Just keep in mind that my order wasn't the T60, but the Z61

Once it ships, you will get a serial number of your laptop, then shortly after, you can do a parts look-up on the lenovo site.

The No CPU option just means the actual housing of the t60 or whatever comes without a cpu, so they can put in whatever one you ordered in it.

Anyway, I'll be speaking with my guy again today, and I'll see if he says the same as you were told mag. (about shipping maybe this week)

on the order status screen, is "part no" what i should be using to look up my parts?

Or am i suppose to use the serial number that will be forthcoming..?

If it's the serial number.. where do i go to look the parts up?

I tried taking the parts no from the order status next to my SBB 14.1 WXGA+ and putting it into the keyword search and it didn't turn up anything..

You're gonna have to use the serial # that will get sent to you in an email once your unit ships.
To do the look-up, there's a link in the FAQ thread at the top of the forum.

The impression I'm under is that for a while, 3 weeks or so, they were out of stock on the WSXGA+ screens. But this week, they got more in, so the orders should start shipping out late this week, or next week.
I've been waiting since 3/24 for mine. I haven't canceled because the deal I got was too good to pass up. Mine is supposed to be built tomorrow, and shipped out Monday. Tomorrow, I'm going to call back and see if my guy there can verify that is has been built.

They don't charge you until they ship it right?
If so, it will give me sometime to start saving. :p

I posted my order on 04/24 next day my card was charged. I had to cancel first order because I did not use shareholder discount, and believe me within 15 min my online banking showed me transaction from Lenovo.

They are pretty quick with that...

Update: I recieved two emails which stated the exact same thing.. one email had copies of the same PDF file they sent me...

No serial number in the emails nor on the status page that i can decipher (even checked the FAQ.. FAQ says i need to check my laptop for that info)

To top it all off, my Laptop is stuck in the infamous "THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL "

    ...here's hoping it clears...

Are you sure they just didn't put a hold on those funds so that you couldn't spend it?

You may be right my bank says that this transaction is pending.
But I really don't when they going to charge me. If that will charge my card when they will ship that would be great. But I clearly can see that they put hand on my money.
