"Takes so long to ship, that by the time it gets to your door, it's free!"
All joking aside though, I really hope they get your T60 out to you ASAP; we're not here to be discount mongers, we just want the notebooks that we ordered and I don't think that's asking terribly much, especially in your case.
On a side note, Rodknee, have you had a chance to get your T60 set up? I think I'm about ready to start on that review...
-
I ordered T60p and now start doubting about T61p but I dont really know what king of performance to expect from T60p.
Everything you could say about your PC would be greatfuly appriciated. -
You should be more than happy with your T60P. -
Build quality wise, I would say the perceived quality of how it feels in the hand is the closest I've found to a MBP (previous laptop) although because of the plastics used on the keyboard area of the T60 it does make a little bit of "creaking" noise when picked up from the corner while open as the plastic flexes until it touches the mag-allow frame (it's designed to do this for durability, and the plastic is *not* weak, just flexible), but the overall structural strength is IMO far superior to the MBP. The reason I make this comparison (T60 & MBP) is that the MBP was probably the most solid "first hold impression" notebook I've used; and I would expect this as its design philosophy is exoskeleton based. The T60 is more of a hybrid between the two main chassis design types (exoskeletal & internal frame) and it strikes the best balance between the two of any laptop I've seen.
Overall, it is the most solid (and I mean SOLID, I could probably bash someone over the head *hard* with it and the T60 would more than likely win the fight with little to no damage) notebook I've ever used, and I don't think you can get any better without going for a ruggedized notebook like a Toughbook.
To give you some perspective, previous notebooks I've had have been a Dell e1705, MBP, and an HP nc8430; and while the MBP had the "feel in the hand overall" factor down, I doubt it would handle more strenous abuse without either severe damage or dents (because of the exoskeleton case design). The T60 has the best of both worlds ("feel" and actual strength).
As far as performance and daily usage, I ordered it with Vista Home Premium as I already had an XP Pro license sitting around, so I figured I might as well give Vista a try. It's been a bit of a learning experience thus far (reading up on SuperFetch at the moment), but after about a week of usage, I think I have a pretty good handle on it. Vista definitely has a different usage "feel" to it, so I can't really make direct comparisions based on previous laptops as they all had XP; but aside from not intially understanding why Vista does some of the things it does, it does definitely run quickly. I just miss having a 7200RPM drive (the e1705 had one) but hey, I can't complain very much, the 160GB 5400 is still quite fast, I'm just a speed freak.
One thing is for sure though, and I'm coming to appreciate this more and more as I use it, the keyboard is like the bestest cake ever from a far away magical bakery in the sky! -
Thanks man, now I feel more comfortable with my choose.
-
I must have gotten a Chicony keyboard lol. My Dell Inspirion 5100 keyboard feels much better than the one on my T60. On the Dell the keys have a nice and firm tactile feel to them, much like my ancient Thinkpad 380ED. I don't get the same feel from my T60 but overall the keyboard is not too bad.

Wow mag, your situation is really ridiculous... I ordered mine a day after you and got my T60 a few weeks ago... True I did not order a T60p, but still, that's complete BS... I cannot believe you have that much patience... I know I sure as hell wouldn't! lol.

finally the status has changed. Till yesterday the estimated ship date was 05/25/07, but today it is 05/21/07, however, the status is still in process, is it normal, did my computer already ship. Cvec7, yeah i know it has been a long time for me to get a computer, but in the process they did offer me a large discount, and on top of this i really did not like any other brand computer, therefore i decided to wait.

They have indicated that your machine is beginning it's build today and should ship early next week. Thank you.

It's probably 8743CTO, That's a letter O at the end. But to look up parts you only need to type in 8743 on the parts lookup page.

I'm having the same problems with Lenovo. I placed an order for a T60p along with a keyboard and mouse on May 1st. Originally, the keyboard was to ship on the 3rd, the mouse on the 8th, and the laptop on the 15th. On the 3rd, the keyboard got delayed until the 9th. I had read about Lenovo having pretty bad shipping estimates and I was hoping that it would not happen to me, but I had a sinking feeling. On the 8th, the mouse got delayed until the 28th! I gave Lenovo a call to see what was going on and they had no real explanation other than the date given was "worse case." They did say that the laptop was guaranteed to ship by the 15th though, so I was content, considering you don't need the keyboard and mouse to use the computer. When the 9th came, the keyboard did not ship, of course; it was delayed until the 29th! I gave them a call again and they were not very helpful at all. They basically read me what I was seeing online. I started to doubt that my laptop was actually going to ship on the 15th. When the 15th came, I checked my order status and the laptop, of course, got bumped back to the 17th. I thought that maybe there was a minor delay and thought that 2 days was not really a big deal, so I waited. It got delayed to the 24th, then the 29th! Well, today is the 29th and I checked my order status this morning and it was delayed again...this time to June 12th; about a month and a half after I placed the order! I called twice today. The first time I got no real answers. The second time I talked to the first nice representative I've had since I placed the order. He said that he guaranteed it would ship by the end of this week and I would have it in my hands by the 12th or he would rush the order and give me next-day shipping. As for my keyboard and mouse, he said that there are 410 and 500 in stock, respectively. He said that he had no idea why they never shipped but would make sure they got out tomorrow at the latest. I really hope I've gotten somewhere now. A month and half is waaayyyy too long to wait for a order, especially if it is several thousand dollars. My cousin just ordered a customized comparable Dell on the 26th and it arrived today! I am so jealous. =P I really don't know what else to do. I feel as if I've waited too long to cancel my order now. This whole month of waiting and calling Lenovo would go to waste. Any comments / suggestions?
-
Just spoke with Lenovo rep, my order from 5/4 which was supposed to ship on the 30th has had the build date pushed back to 6/2... here's to hoping!
-
hello guys
I still waiting for my order... I try to call them several times but nothing
So I sent them an email again....

For those who you who care, I ordered my N200 (Canadian) and it has been shipped with UPS today... should arrive in 4-5 business days they say... (got a tracking number as well)
Seems like the US Lenovo market is slow because of customizations, the sales rep I spoke with said that it would take at least 3 weeks on the US thing to customize a laptop, and then more for shipping etc.
Guess Canadians have it better as far as shipping is concerned. No customizations though. -
-
Man i`m waiting more than 5-6 weekes tilll now...my model is T60 -
-
Actually I placed my order for a T60 with ABGN (normal XGA standard screen mind you) this May 25th, 2007 and as of May 30th it is being shipped. But like I said, I didn't pick a screen or any parts that were indicated to delay it. Actually I had originally ordered a T61 but I canceled it as I really like the T60 and the standard screen format, and for my purposes put XP on it. Crazy you say? Maybe, but at least this thing will arrive in the next few days. (I did hear from the Lenovo rep that a standard screen 14.1 inch T61 is coming out June 5th though, but didn't want to take a chance on missing the T60 deal).
-
Received my today, buy I still can not lookup for parts to know what I got.
But so far I sure LIKE IT.
I got 9 Cell battery, and laptop without battery weighted like battery itself, but together it is still much lighter than my old laptop -
This is such a long running post, it's kind of sad to see it dying down. The Lenovo reps have told several us that are still waiting that our laptops should be built today. Has anyone received any notification as to whether this is actually happening or not?
-
PS: I still waiting for e-mail from lenovo. -
Guys, finally the day has come, I received a shipment notification today....
-
Now watch, it's gonna get held up in customs for a week, lol. -
-
Well mine arrived 7 days after I ordered it, ABGN T60. It's great too, really nice system. (Though don't be surprised if you're wireless cuts out after it comes out of hibernation, just go to thinkvantage access and turn off wireless power control of your radio under global settings.)
Once it shipped, it took literally 3 days, so customs wasn't an issue. Good luck with your orders, so hopefully with luck many of them (if they're T60's) could come pretty fast now. -
usually with companies like lenovo customs isnt an issue. i work in a post office in canada and every package that comes from a big company ie lenovo, even if they are shipped from china do not have customs fees or get held up as you say.
whenever i know the package is a laptop i always check the ship date and its never more than a few days before. so i wouldnt worry about it getting held up...but thats not to say that it wont. im speaking generally.
How long did your T60 take to ship
