If I want to save battery can I turn off the discrete graphic card and use the integrated? Like the GT72 does?

You can set the integrated GPU as default so it doesn't use dGPU.

Taken from htwingnuts review of the MSI GT72 with gtx 980m: "Including the 230W PSU is also a welcome addition, and even though most of the benchmarks run during this review didn't exceed 190W power draw from the wall (roughly equating to 155-160W actual draw), it's good to have some breathing room for future overclocking potential."

This causes me to be more at ease with the fact that the p35x v3 will ship with only a 180W psu. (It will probably draw less power than the gt72 because it doesnt have 'X-tream FPS gaemon looptoop!' leds everywhere)

    thanks.

Apparently the v2 were already IPS on both versions? I hope they keep it as the 970M will suffice for me, but I want to avoid TN.

Has anyone seen a reseller with a different keyboard option? I dislike the little left shift and double height enter key.

    Just sent this to Schenker:

    "Dear reader,

The customisation options on your Schenker XMG C504 (gigabyte P35W V2) are quite extensive and very interesting to me.

Gigabyte will be selling their new P35X V3 in england starting from 1. november. In the UK however, the customisation options do not suffice, which brings me to the following question: Will you be reselling and customising theGigabyte P35X V3? If so, what kind of customisation options will be there and when will that model be available from Schenker/XMG?

Reason I want to customise it is that gigabyte ships it with loads of mSATA SSD's, which I don't want, making the laptop unnecessarily expensive.

I'm very interested in the3k mattedisplay model with thei7 4710HQandGTX 980M. Will you be selling this model?

As mentioned earlier, I reside in holland. What (if any) shipping rates would apply? Secondly, how does living in another country than germany affect warranty? Furthermore, what costs are to be expected when I decide to RMA the product? Who will pay those costs if, for example, the laptop arrives Dead On Arrival? In addition, what is your standard policy regarding dead pixels?

Looking forward to your response to my inquiries.

    Sincerely,

    Anonymous"

Ill report back as soon as i have an answer. Getting a laptop and installing my own ssd and OS would be saving a lot of money. A friend of mine has windows 7 for me (can wait for windows 10) and I think only one 512 mx100 ssd will suit my needs for a while, which ill add later for just 180 euros. Saving like 100 euros this way, possibly more.

XoticPC just updated their P35X listing to include the 3K matte display. Pre-ordered mine from them while noting that I would like to change the CPU to the i7-4870HQ option if possible. Capture.PNG

Just a feedback from Gigabyte support about the weight of the p35 by the way they have been very responsive !).

Considering the 2,5" HDD is nearly always installed with the P35, you shouldn't expect a weight of 2,1 kg on most of the cases.

    Got a feedback from Schenker

    "Dear Mr. Interwebz guy,

Thank you very much for your email. We don’t have final informations when we will release an update of the XMG C504 with GTX 900M series. If we will release an update it will be possible to customize it the same way as the current XMG C504.

Shipping costs to Netherlands are 35,- €. In case of RMA we will cover the shipping costs, except the defect is not covered by warranty.

Display panels with dead pixels will be replaced within the first 2 weeks after purchse. In general we sell displays out of Class II category (ISO-9241).

    With kind regards,

    Schenker guy"

I see that the Gigabyte sub-forum has been promoted from the 'other' category to being a full bonafide notebook manufacturer in its own right.

All aboard the Gigabyte express; choo choo! Not long now... :)

1TB SSD Samsung EVO 840 will do that, and the 1866 16GB Kingstons.

@Sandwhale: It seems that its not possible to upgrade CPU. I asked and was given a reply that the CPU is soldered. However, the P35x v3 CF1 model comes with i7-4860HQ, while what's available everywhere else in US is given i7-4710HQ due to being CF2 and CF4 model. CF1 is not yet available except in UK.

Okay. We'll after doing some research it appears that the difference between the 4710 and 4860 is minimal in terms of bottlenecking a 980m for anything under 60Hz... 120Hz would be a little more noticeable, but tbh I'd prefer 3k to 120Hz. The difference between these two processors has been blown way out of proportion and so I'm not going to really worry about it, all I want is the 980m.

Unfortunately, it looks as if this might take longer than expected though, as there are rumors of a delay for the release of the P35... at least as stated on Xotic PC's website... So I contacted the Gigabyte laptop rep and asked him if this was correct/for more details and so we'll know soon! Hopefully, everything will be on time and we won't have to wait ANOTHER month! :D

Ugh everything looks amazing except for the lack of 4 ram slots T____T do any of the UK models support 32gb ram or is it 2 slots across all versions? Thats literally the only deal breaker for me atm, since I'd probably go w/ the 3k display, 8gb 980, 32gb ram, and the 48xx would be PERFECT ...y u do dis gigabyte .3. WRYYYYYYYYY

I think it's 2 RAM slots across all models, and I believe Gigabyte do this to keep the thin profile. Maybe next iteration will include 4 slots so you'll purchase again.

Some programs on their own use up to 15-20 gb. 8-16 gb Ram is enough for gaming and web browsing (+ Lightroom, Photoshop) People buying 20+gb Ram for this are plain I..... They just don't know better :)

Edit: 8gb will be enough for me, i would get 16 if i got a good price. I would also rather use 1866mhz than 1600mhz and i hope the p35's will support it! It will give tiny bit better preformance in games and help with stuttering frames i have heard, and i believe it will.

If i can't find the right ram, i will buy 1600mhz Corsair or Kingston sticks and flash them to 1866. And it will very good if they have xmp profiles (some of them does).

Man, cannot wait for some reviews :)

If the thermals and the fan noise on this are decent, the light weight, the aesthetics and the IPS screen on this make this a great choice (although, I would like 4810)

Why do you think that? Is it wrong to have portability lol or are the 32gb variants (other models 15-18") to be avoided? Trust me in no way am I making fun of this laptop. I think its a beast.

Also yes 32gb is essential for me since its not just for games, I work in the IT field, and am also an artist, so I work on heavy layered canvas's, storyboarding, Animation and videos (designing not watching lol )3D modeling, design, multi tabbed browsing, as Chrome can easily absorb around 8gb given bad scripts and flash usage, and yes I keep a lot of tabs for references, chats, programs and other things.

I like to multitask, there's nothing wrong with it, I'd rather not have to close out programs just to keep things running smoothly. Then there's my analysis areas, VM's for sandboxing, Fireeye, and more.

At home I have 64gb in my desktop and I'm usually around 36-45% in usage of it on a normal day, sometimes upwards 72% on heavy days. Having something to do more on the go with adds to my productivity.

Not everyone is an I.... for buying that much ram, that's just being close minded. I'm aware my needs, and I was being dramatic for fun as I get int his world there's no such thing as the perfect notebook. Given the p35X is perfect in just about everyway EXCEPT for the 4 slots ( which is only to people like me that would actually utilize it for more than the average person here would) Then theres the Clevo p651 which has 32gb but chose to go w/ the 4gb sodered 980M's and 4 cell batteries which bewilders me.

Right now I've been on the fence for a P-157/P-150SMA preferably the 8258, however the concept of the 3k screens appeal to me due to them being barely above 1600p which I think is nice.

So honestly if I had to choose between them it would be very hard given those two deciding factors, that + limitations, programs will continue to require more memory and I'd like a bit more use out of my 3k+ notebook for at least 2-3 years tops.

I take no offense to the comments, just amazed that people still think this way in the year 2014 lol.

Hope that answers the questions :D

I'm hoping it doesn't have any major issues. I can handle it running a little warm (maxing mid 80's) and being slightly noisy being so compact and powerful. For as much money as I'm spending (nearly 4k) I don't want a piece of junk though.

Yep, same holds for me. It's either going to be this one, the P35X v3, or the Clevo P150.
My requirements are very demanding and only two notebooks (so far) meet my demands:
    15 Inch (1080p+)
    16GB RAM+
    GTX980M

I have a feeling why the gigabyte rep on OCUK hasn't replied because he knows it wont be available November 1st. We have had a waiting time of December for a while now (even in Australia) on multiple sites. I think he doesn't want to say there is a delay because he wants your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's up to the manufacturer how much vram they actually want to put on the mobo! And what kind of vram they want to use. If the previous p35's was soldered, these will also be soldered! (IMO)

    ETA for CF2 moved to 14/11/14. F*** :(

ETA for CF1 moved to 05/11/14...

I am so tempted to switch to CF1 right now! If I stick with CF2 = delivery Saturday 22nd November. If I switch to CF1 = delivery Saturday 8th November.

Ah, I was wondering if there had been some delay's. Have you heard any ETA's for the P35W V3-CF1? - As that should do the job for me at a better price than any of the MSI GS models (i.e. £1319.00 from scan.co.uk).

Really I'm just waiting for a review (to check on keyboard and noise) before I pull the trigger on a pre-order, but that is on the assumption that these units will be available at some point next month (otherwise I'll be re-looking at MSI/..).

[edit] Just seen Overclockers is saying tomorrow for the P35W, now just wondering when there will be a review out, or if all the reviews will be waiting for the P35X's... [/edit]

Yeah, there definitely should be reviews next week, providing the ETA doesn't slip any further!

I've switched my order to CF1 now. I anticipate delivery on Saturday 8th November. Gigabyte rep said that the CF2 has been delayed by a couple weeks behind CF1 - I couldn't wait any longer! :p

We expect a full review by Monday the 10th ;) or at least some info on fan noise and the keyboard.. - I used an Android app the other day "Sound Meter", to measure the Db of my (4 year old) work laptop and it came out in the 60-70 dB range (when placed right next to the fan in the same way XOTIC did their GS70 review, so to be honest I'm probably fairly tolerant of a bit of laptop fan noise.

My P35X V3 CF4 just went into production from HID Evolution! No dates yet but I'm glad to see it getting started.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind the CF1 right now.. Only problem is that resolution, hopefully 1920x1080 or 1600x900 still look decent for gaming.. Decisions decisions.

It was the only one with the 3k display. I assumed it was simply the US version of the CF1?

4710, 16GB, 8GB 980m, 2880x1620 (says glossy, not sure if that is accurate or not since I thought they were matte)
