So when are we expecting the first units to hit the hands of consumers and where? I'm strongly thinking of preordering one from the appropriate country.

Thank you for reminding me how bad the fan noise actually is. This is really bad. Totally unacceptable.

This is the P34G. The P35Xv3 uses a slightly different cooling system and may have been slightly changed to the P35k

This is a video from the P34g, even the v2 is much better, so I wouldn't worry about the v3

Indeed. And the rep confirmed they're using larger fans this time around. And as we all know larger fans = quieter operation.

Cakefish, I'm trying to create an account on the overclockers forum but I'm not being accepted (?? so weird !).
Would you mind asking the Gigabyte REP what kind of power supply is provided with the P34w v3 ? (150, 180w ?) And if the colors of the chassis really evolved to black like some pictures seem to show.
    Thanks !

I am in the same boat :)

    - They did confirm it comes with a 180w though. (see below)

    I would like to know:

    - Can they confirm that the clock speeds and boosts on the 980m won't be affected by the lower power draw?

This was their response to the 180w question:

    Hi Cakefissh,

We have spoken to headquarters to get clarification on all your questions from the product management and R&D teams:

    1) - Power supply is 180w for this model

    2) - everyone's typing style/method is different, so feedback varies. However, we have taken on board some customer's views and yes, this V3 model has been modified to further strengthen the chassis

    3) - Because this is a slim chassis, yes the cooling system has also been improved to ensure it can comfortably manage the GTX980m card

We trust this information meets and exceeds your expectations and gives you the confidence to place your pre-order.

Thanks for your enquiry and if you have any further question please let us know.

    Regards,

    Gigabyte UK NB Team

Some answers from the Gigabyte rep :

    1. I really don't get it. Even with the ODD and no extra HDD the measures have been around 2,5 kg.

Unfortunately it's a i7-4710HQ processor. The error on the product spec should be revised soon.

The only difference between the 4860HQ and the 4710HQ is the Iris Pro 5200 and 100MHz higher (+2.8%) boost clocks. Not the end of the world!

So now I don't understand. I've seen so many reviews on the p35w v2 that were saying that the laptop was 2,45 kg (about). This was with a second SSD and the ODD, but even with removing both I would be surprised to see 2,16 kg.
    Can anyone here confirm ?

Please do not try to make the i7-4710 sound like something unusable. It is very capable of every task you would put it trough! The only negative is the heat, and i hope it doesn't get to hot with the 9/7/8/0m. And that the cooling actually have been improved.

Ah, and here I thought XoticPC was the one with the typo (they listed the 4710HQ for this model) - so the only difference between CF-2 and CF-4 is 1080p IPS Matte vs 3k glossy display? Is the 3k also IPS...and glossy?

Has probably been asked a thousand times, but I'm absolutely torn on whether to buy the 1080p version or the 3K version, I don't think 1080p would look good on a 3K screen when gaming, maybe 1600x900 would look better but it's a bit too low for a 15.6" in my opinion. Does anyone have a comparison between the two? Would be greatly appreciated.

I would choose 1080p for gaming, and the price. I don't see the necessity of going beyond 1080p unless for creativity content production (rendering, digital painting, etc).

IMHO, 3K is more suitable for 17+ inch display, 1080p on a 15 inch monotor is just about right.

Yes for that kind of work it would be good! not for gaming, (for now) and if you where doing work like that in the first place you would probably have an very good external monitor for that use anyway..

Thanks for the replies, I will order the 1080p version, hopefully the screen bezels aren't too big, but with that much power in such a small form factor I guess you have to sacrifice something :)

There was a very extensive post on how to determine/calculate the best non-native gaming resolution in, however I have difficulties finding it. It had to do something with maintaing 2 non-native pixels per pixel or something (pixel doubling). Does anyone know which post I mean?

    For reference: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18628986&page=3

This is for the p35X-CF2 1080p version. Shame we can't only upgrade the processor and keep the 1080p version, but I think it will be an option in the coming months.

This is for the 3k version.

Any words on whether or not the GPU in P35x is MXM (upgradable)? If it is, then P35 have a big edge on the GT72.

I don't think it would/could be. Form factor is too small too small to allow for it and I don't think the cooling system would work with this.

I ordered the 3k version last night from HID Evolution. I decked it out with dual SSDs and dual HDs too. Normally I do all my own upgrades but it wouldn't have saved me much money and I would have spend an entire day or more messing with it. The wait begins... (went with free ground shipping too)

    Hi guys

Just joining the forum, don't be harsh! :p

Just wondering, if these laptops have IPS panels? I can't see any 100% answer in the thread.

Also, is 3k recommended or does it have more issues than positive points?
