On the P35Xv3 there is no longer a white line between left and right click on the trackpad as exists on the P35Wv2. This is based on the product images on the Gigabyte website. Perhaps this means the dodgy right/left click on the track pad is fixed?

Nice! I'll be eagerly awaiting your thoughts on it, mostly on how hot it gets.
I've had a very nice gaming laptop before but the thing was super hot. It would burn out the motherboard once a year and once my 3 year warranty was up I was out of luck and I don't intend to do all that again. -
Ahhh please someone help me! I've decided on the P35x v3... but 3k glossy or 1080p matte? I wish they offered 3k matte like aorus x3 plus, I loved that screen ><

-
I'm planning on the 3k, because I'm tired of 1080 especially after having higher res screens. On top of that I play at various higher resolutions on my external when at home, and I hate having to constantly switch game resolution and settings back and forth as I move around. I plan to find a good common resolution for both external and internal and leave it there.

If you're buying Metabox, try AffordableLaptops. They've been my go-to guys for years with Clevo.
EDIT: Also, no reviews until the end of the month I expect. I have a feeling that's when they'll start popping up. -
I lodged a support ticket with Gigabyte to see when it would be released in Australia. Release in Australia in 'late December' according to Gigabyte Australia.
-
sounds rather generic; maybe we should just buy the 3k version ? pre-order wise

affordable has the 3k one here in november

Oh man, I should buy 10 of them and take them to Sydney on a plane.

December? Sorry to hear that. Providing I'm not too busy with uni coursework, and assuming dispatch/delivery are not delayed, I plan to fully review this laptop on the weekend of the 1st/2nd November.

It all depends for me wheter the 3K display is glossy or matte.
If it's glossy, I'll go with the 1080p display instead which is confirmed to be matte.
However, according to this website, both displays should be matte:
GIGABYTEs Gaming-Notebooks P35X v3 und P34W v3 jetzt mit NVIDIA GeForce 900M | Ahrtos.de
So far XOTIC PC is the only website to list the 3k display as glossy. All other sites, including Overclockers UK, claim that the 3K display is matte as well. -

Guys, anybody have info on the HEATING of GTx980M vs GTX970M ? I want to get the P35Xv3 3k over the MSI gs60 3K but don't know if the gtx980m would overheat ?

Here's an interesting (in my opinion) update that Gigabyte made to their product page just a few days ago:
This is the old P35W v2:
This is the new P35X v3/P35W v3
I really like this. More fan control is always welcome. One of the most annoying things about my Clevo when I first bought it was the fan spinning up at seemingly random moments - which turned out to be the antivirus doing its thing in the background. I've since got used to the noise but it'll be very nice to finally be able to force the fans into a low RPM state when not gaming. I really love how they've added an extra fan mode since the P35W v2; I think of it as being analogous to phones with auto-brightness display modes that have a slider to change the sensitivity of that feature. This blending of manual and automatic settings is wonderful.aethelbert and moviemarketing like this. -
I wonder what combos will be available for the P35X V3. The official Gigabyte website lists Windows 7 should also be possible, as well as a blueray disc drive.

I asked the following quesiton on pcper about the 180w power supply and the 980m :
-
-
-
This wait is excruciatingly long however. -
I'm talking about the v2 and v1. Any review ?
-
-
I suppose p35x v1 and p35x v2 don't exist ? -
That's because Gigabyte use the follwing letters to denote the GPU inside of the laptop:
G = x60M
W = x70M
X = x80M
Which explains why the P35G v2 had the 860M while the P35W v2 had the 870M. 880M was simply too power hungry and too hot to fit into the slim chassis, hence why there was no P35X v2.
So why call it 'v3' of the P35X I hear you ask? Well, that's because all the P35 laptops share very similar chassis'. P35W v3 and P35X v3 have the 3rd iteration of the original P35 chassis. Which is why they called it the P35X v3 and not just P35X. -
Thanks a lot, now everything is clear.
I guess they should consider making it simple, that would help the sells. -
-
they probably know their reviews are gonna be crap and the fans are an issue still -
Calm down. There's no need to be so doom and gloom...

It is written on Gigabyte website that the P35w V2 and the P35X v3 weight about 2,26 kg.
But on the reviews I can read, and on videos, the weight seems to be about 2,5 kg, without the power brick too.
This is quite a difference ! -
asus didnt have fan issues like its predecessor so i didnt really worry about the g751 that much... the amount of flack the p35x v2 got... i have a reason to worry
-
Even more juicy Gigabyte info!
-
Nice! 3k screen it is. I'll wait for the first review regarding fan noise and possible throtteling issues.
-
I'm debating whether to switch to a 3K model in light of this new info that it is matte. My concerns are 1) how do games look at non-native resolutions on a 3K display? 2) is Windows 8.1 still manageable at 3k 15.6" with no scaling? 3) how much does a 3K display impact battery life?
Here's some benchmarks from PC Gamer:
-
EDIT : the laptop is 2.5 kg !
It is clearly written 2,1 kg on their website which is wrong.
I mean, what kind of image should we have from a company that doesn't even know properly its own products... This is unacceptable.
Maybe Cakefish you can mention it to the Gigabyte REP on the other forum ? -
Sometimes companies say the weight without the battery, and like you mentioned the power brick could be included or excluded too. I'm not saying it's right but maybe wanted it to be as light as possible so they list it without battery or charger.
-
2,5 kg is far less attractive than 2,1.
The MSI GS60 and its 1.96 kg sounds a lot lighter now... : / (but less powerful, a little bit larger, and with a 150W power supply).Reks likes this. -
I might be biased as I mainly will be using it as a portable desktop instead of a gaming laptop; Most of the times I will have an external screen connected, which is limited 1080p at the moment anyway.
To address your concerns:
1) As long the aspect ratio is the same, it should look no different as how your games scale on your current display. Take into account that 3K is a huge resolution for 15.6 inch, so 1080p probably won't look bad at all on that screen size, even if it isn't the display's native resolution
2) No idea. I still have 2 valid (unused) licences for Windows 7, so if it isn't managable, I will switch to Windows 7.
3) I think little to none, in daily activies. In gaming, ofcourse, it will impact performance as the GPU will have to render more pixels. However, in normal conditions the backlight still has to illumate the same screen size, the resolution makes no difference for this aspect.
