I'll burn an ISO for you when I get home (when this post is approx 12 hrs old) if you haven't gotten it sorted by then.

Well I have to say I just returned my aero 15. Last night was the last day for my return period and at 11:30pm I was just watching youtube videos and windows froze, sound froze, and it got really hot. It was on battery power. It would not power off until about two minutes after holding the power button for about 2 minutes. After that it would not turn on. I let it sit for a few minutes and it powered on. It got stuck in a boot loop and then windows tried to repair itself and was unable to. After running trying to run repairs and restores nothing worked. Once powered down it took minutes to boot to the bios screen. I had to do a factory reset and it took a while. Even after that the computer still was extremely slow and running hot. So I returned it. I had a lot of smaller issues with it. I will not be getting another one. I really liked the size and the battery life of the aero.

And I just placed a $2700 order for one via Gentech.

Hope I don't have that lottery number. Sorry to hear man.

Amazon has been known to "accidentally" send new items that have been returned.

I had 2 PC components arrive with issues, brand new items never recertified. Had to swap them out.

The great thing though about Amazon is you can get a new one sent without having to wait for the item in hand to be received.

At least my $300 Mobo and $150 PSU were done this way amongst other items. Might not hurt to try a second unit.

I need this laptop to work for my needs because of the battery life. Would hate to have to go through this with Gentech. Hoping the aftermarket cooling options help prevent this as well.

Let us know what you decide to do.

I did not know that but the box still had the seal on it so i assumed it was new. Does your aero have a subtle alternating frequency you can only head when its unughed and with you jead near the keyboard? Mine did and it would play through the headphones.

I am not sure i want to play the lottery with it. I jeard quite a few people have problems and i disregarded them because its the internet. It is very hard to find another laptop that is like the aero 15.

I was looking i to the aorus x5 v7 but there i hardly any info on it.

    Thanks.
Reinstalling Smart Update (downloaded manually from gigabyte.com) brought back English UI elements. Hope this stays for good now.

This also "repaired" Night Light which suddenly had stopped working. Night light is a fine feature: a) it reduces stress on the eyes in dark environments and b) reminds me that it's late and I need to go to bed :)

I can not confirm this observation. My version of Smart Update (3.7.8, apparently the latest) just closes after downloading the update to Bios FB0B/F008. Further, the update of Wireless Driver from 19.50.1.6 to 19.70.0.5 is not applied. Smart Update downloads the new driver and runs it. Then I'm offered to "repair" or "change" the installation. I tried both options but my Windows still uses the old driver.

It's 2018, cars drive autonomously, computer win against Chess and Go champions but still it's impossible to provide a solid and reliable update program. :(

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the URL for the BIOS update executable appears in the temp file C:\Program Files\Smart Update\temp\driver.xml, and you can use that to download with your browser... Although if Smart Update doesn't close properly it probably wipes out the temp file. So here's the URL (confirmed working just now) http://driverupdate.gigabytenb.com/base2/P65wt/bios.zip

My main reason of consideration is because of battery life. My understanding is that the power consumption will be better without Gigabyte's weird optimizations.

For some drivers you'd better download the latest version from their real manufacturer. Gigabyte won't provide latest updates.
    I have:
    Wireless 20.10.2.2
    Bluetooth 20.0.0.11
    Intel graphic 23.20.16.4849
    Nvidia graphic 23.21.13.977
    Intel Management Engine 11.7.0.1040

I migrated from a old dell laptop with keyboard issues and find it hard to compile my dev work.
I find my new aero 15 fit for my mobile lifestyle without sacrificing performace.

CPU: No drama, Good as it is.

GRAPHICS: I migrated from a laptop without videocard and always playing super low dota settings, i find it a fresh experience to play max setting with its GTX1060.

BATTERY: Currently i always on the plug and but i find its battery superb.

SOFTWARE: Smart Manager UI is meh but do the job, looks old but its working so no issue.
Smart Update do the job of installing drivers and keeping other software updated.

NOISE: Can't barely hear any noise in this laptop. will try to update later after playing heavy games.

BUILD QUALITY / WEIGHT: Build quality is top of the line using quality plastic, i find this laptop very light with the quality it produces.
it have a thunderbolt so i feel it safe to buy gigabyte gaming box if theres a new gpu architecture released.

I'm having an issue with the keyboard on the Aero 15x.

When typing on the Aero 15x I'm regularly having a single keystroke registering incorrectly as a double keystroke.
This is extremely annoying and totally unacceptable in my opinion. I've come across a couple other comments elsewhere complaining about the same issue, though I'm not sure if the problem exists on every Aero 15x.

I've looked everywhere for a fix to this problem. Is everyone with the Aero 15x experiencing this problem? Should I RMA this notebook?

I'm running Linux and wondering if there might be some workaround hack. Perhaps setting some limit on "keystroke per x time" might work until Gigabyte fixes this? The problem occurs in Windows and Linux.

I love this notebook except for this problem. Of course gsync and a recessed USB slot would make the Aero 15x even more awesome than it is...c'mon Gigabyte!

EDIT: Ok, it seems there is a thread specifically for the 15 x so apologies for posting here. (I don't seem to be able to delete this post, and it should really be moved to the 15x threads) Apparently the issue is referred to as keyboard "chatter" and there are software hacks to work around this issue. Not a proper fix by any means in my opinion.

Hi every one! I've readed most of the post of this thread and i want to thank everyone for your help.
Now i have one issue that i've not found in other threads. I was using the windows Netflix app correctly, but some time ago, when i run the app, i get the next error:

    Error code: U7354

and i can't play any video. I have the same error in the web version using Edge and Firefox, but i CAN PLAY in CHROME

    It's very strange...

    Thanks for your help!

I've been playing ARK and tried to use the GigabyteFusion keyboard software to program custom buttons (such as auto-run), but every time I push the key it only continues for about 20 seconds and then stops, even with loop mode selected.

Does anyone know if it is possible to set a custom macro that loops until stopped?

    Thanks

I had the same problem with the Aero 15 (no X) and I had it sent for RMA. They claimed to put a new keyboard in, but I still have the same problem. I too would like to know if anyone was able to fix this. I might end up carrying an extra keyboard around because it is a big hassle.

As far as I can tell, downloading that version still gives you 4.2.8, which is also the latest version listed on gigabytes support page.

Could you list out what plan you used, and tweaks you made, as well as software? I did the same, with a very minimal install with gigabyte software as well. I only get about 5-6 hours with light browsing.

Also, how do you use the battery bar dealio to give you power output?

    @vivithemage

I just installed battery bar and when you hover your mouse over the icon in the taskbar, it will tell you discharge rate. Refer to my linked images below. I haven't made any specific tweaks, my settings are below. But something is up since the fall creator's update, details below.

    @HussainQ

The fall creator's update has indeed increased my power consumption, but not by much. I am now seeing an 11k~13k discharge rate with just this firefox window open. Weirdly enough that's giving me a 5 hour estimate which doesn't add up mathwise? Something is up here, because a 13k discharge rate on a 96whr battery should come to roughly a 7 hour estimate?

    Settings are:
    Balanced profile
    50% screen brightness
    "Quiet" fan mode

Below are two images that show this including discharge rate with a YT video playing.

    https://i.imgur.com/ngX0Gbi.jpg
    https://i.imgur.com/fU3KaMy.jpg

I would say on the whole my discharge rate is increased by almost 50% after the creator's update, but I have no idea why you might be seeing 23~28k discharge rates, unless battery bar simply isn't reporting this accurately.

I may run a test in the future to measure actual battery life and not just rely on these software estimates.

I would think it's because of hardware acceleration while watching a YouTube video. I have since disabled that but instead get ~16-18k discharge rate without HW acceleration (i.e CPU doing all the work).

This would be on the same settings as you, except that I have the fan profile on gaming. I'll try using the Quiet profile and see what that does since I know it throttles something when enabled.

I see. I haven't touched my Firefox acceleration settings, and they are on "Use Recommended Settings" atm, and I believe this defaults to hardware acceleration being on.

Yeah, maybe it is quiet mode as that does throttle the laptop, but if I'm on battery, I exclusively use quiet mode.

For those of you who use a custom fan curve: is there any way to make the laptop start from actual zero? When I boot up, it always starts at 30%, and I have to go to custom fan curve settings and reapply what I've got there to make it 0%. Afterwards it behaves fine... Until the next reboot or wake from sleep, then it's back at 30% no matter what.

I had Fall Creators updates mess up graphics performance on two laptops. It could be an Optimus thing?

    Hi Everyone,
I got my Aero 15 last week. It was an open box from newegg that I got with an additional 8% off, so it was a good deal. I initially had problems getting Windows 10 updated...it would hang on 99% and then go into a neverending "getting your computer ready" screen loop. I finally got that fixed, but now I'm having another problem with the wi-fi. I updated the drivers to the latest using the package from Intel, and it connects just fine on my home network...I get 50-60 Mbps download speeds (which is my max on my home connection). However, at my university when connected to the open wi-fi network, I get a max of about 1 Mbps, and usually only about .3 Mbps download speeds. If I uninstall the 8265 wireless card and then reinstall, it will connect regularly and get 30 or so Mbps speeds for a few minutes, but the speed slowly degrades over about 30 minutes back down to sub 1 Mbps speeds. I've tried every fix I could find online, and nothing seems to work. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't think it is a faulty card, because it works fine on my home network. I assume there is some sort of software or hardware incompatibility with my university's wireless network?

Have you compared latest recommended Gigabyte drivers vs just letting Windows install its driver? I've had better experience with the latter.

I tried that. I uninstalled the network card, deleted all the drivers, and then let Windows install its own drivers upon reinstalling the card. That gives me the Microsoft driver version 19.50.1.6. When I run smartupdate it shows 19.70.00 as the latest supported driver, but when Install the package through smartupdate and then go look at the driver through device manager, it still shows the Windows 19.50.1.6 driver. If I use "update driver" from within the device manager it updates to 19.70.0.05. If I install the latest driver package from Intel (20.30.1) it successfully updates the driver. But I have the same problem no matter what driver is installed - sub 1 Mbps download speeds. I really like the laptop, but if I can't get it to work on the Uni wifi then its not really usable for me...

That sucks. :/ Have you tried asking on a networking-specific forum? Issues with wireless are often really obscure, but your description is detailed enough for an experienced pro to help... Hopefully!

Start with the basics, how is the connection strength/signal? How far are you from the access point? Any walls/floors/ceilings in the way? Maybe your school throttles a lot as it is?

Hi guys, I just received my Aero 15 with 10% off because the packaging was already opened. Otherwise it was supposed to be in tip top shape. When starting it up I noticed the two bottom keyboard rows have no backlight. Does anyone have experience with warranty keyboard replacements? Thanks in advance!

I had mine replaced and I mentioned the key-combination problems and they replaced it along with a fan that was going bad.

Thanks, that's good news, so they do replacements. Did you receive the Aero 15 back quickly, or did you have to wait?

Does anyone have any bluetooth connectivity issues? I am able to see the listed devices, but it never connects. The first time it happened was for a bluetooth keyboard that asked for a pin, but would never connect. Now I have bluetooth headphones and it wont connect. I have the Sony MX-1000 II and I do see the device, but it doesn't pair. I updated to the new 20.30.0.3 driver from Intel.
