I can confirm that Rainbow six siege running on windows 10 build 1709 with latest nvidia driver running around 130-145 fps, maybe you are using windows 10 build 1803 as I did before.
Windows 10 build 1803 has really bad perfomance at least in the gaming area, dunno about content creator

Thank you for checking. I am using the 1803 build. I ll go back and check if it solves the problem.
I wondered what i should do to get my computer to work 100%. My thermal is really, i mean really really, good now. On full load i get 73c. 0% throttle after 5 hours of witcher 3. So, it shoudnt be the thermal's problem.

The first, very small, shipment has arrived. Unfortunately pre-orders ahead of yours took them all.

Now, we all wait for the next shipment, due in late-May, which we hope will be bigger.

I wish I can go back. Mine deleted the "go back to a previous version of windows 10" function, because I didn't know that's the problem.

Problems just never seems to end. I got blue screens. It happened two times in a role. When I got a blue screen, i restarted the computer and it immediately happen after I got into windows. It says, STORE-DATA-SRUCTURE-CORRUPTION. It has happened many times since I got the computer. I feel like its the hard drive's problem. Does people have the same problem?

    Edit:
After analyzing my minidump files, I found out the BSOD is caused by ntkrnlmp.exe. I don't what it does. And I found there are lots people having trouble with this thing. This thing alone caused 4 bsod in one day.

Very bad news here. Got an Aero 15X from Newegg on the pre-order a few days ago. Machine was acting unstable generally. Then I tired to upgrade to 32gb.
Kept the original gskill and added a second gskill of exact same specs (see the pic).
The machine would not post with two sticks. Maybe it's the ram, right? Could it be the new stick. No such luck.
With some testing I find that I can post with just the new stick, or just the old stick. I think I could post with either stick in either slot - but not totally sure about that. In all cases, no post with both sticks, no matter which stick was in which slot.
I even tried two other 2400 gskill sticks pulled from my old XPS 9550 that are known good. Still no post.
Back down to one stick and posts. It will post with any one of four sticks I have in one slot. But any two sticks and DOA. I tweeted at gigabyte support in case they have a bios update to send me. Already have RMA from newegg for laptop and RAM and will ship it out in a day.
Take a look at the attached pic of the Gigabyte factory RAM and the second stick. They are the EXACT same thing. This can't be some basic incompatibility - its more complicated than that. (see previous post http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...5-owners-lounge.804575/page-253#post-10728869)
    Good luck guys. I'm out.

What RAM are you using? Nevermind. Saw the other posts.

This is the first I see with that RAM not working. Did you try just one stick in the other slot?
I have a problem with just one of my GSkill 2400 with the slot closer to the battery. It can boot with one stick in the CPU slot. Also cant boot with 2 sticks either

I can't remember for sure if I could boot with only one stick next to the battery. I think that worked, but not sure anymore. Laptop is closed up and not opening again to test more. :) All done.

not sure if you've seen it... but looks like Intel pushed another 1803 specific UHD update.
    https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Laptop/AERO-15X--i7-8750H#support-dl-driver-vga

i know this is the one we've been using already based on the page on intel's site but on gigabytes page for the 15x the update is listed as 5/16/18... not sure if it will help... but let me know. I would still suggest 1709 if possible but maybe it will help?

There isn't really a list of qualified RAM for use with the new Aero 15. If there were, it would be on the Gigabyte support site, which it is not. There is no list of qualified RAM because there is some larger design problem, not some random incompatibilities.

I used a second Ripjaws with identical specs as the original stick. Absolutely no excuse for that not working.

As an aside, am pretty pissed about the whole thing. I waited 6 weeks on the pre-order, wasted about $100 having the 15X and RAM overnighted, then all the time spent troubleshooting it.

Where is that list online? As shown in the attached pic, used exactly from the list and didn't work. I tweeted at Gigabyte support for ideas and radio silence. I'd recommend ppl not buy until this is resolved.

Hey guys - quick question. Does the Aero 15 v7 (7700hq and 1060) have thermal pads on the vram modules, or thermal paste? I want to repaste with liquid metal, but not sure if I also should buy extra non-conductive thermal paste for the vram, or some pads? (if pads - do you know which size?)

    Thanks a lot!

    Best,
    E

The RAM issue sounds like a BIOS problem. Hopefully Gigabyte gets on top of this and fixes the issue ASAP.

Correct...ONLY use LM between the GPU and CPU die and their heatsinks, and ONLY if you know what you are doing, and know how to seal them properly.

I won't repeat the different sealing procedures here because they have been discussed in many threads here on the forum. Just search for them and you will get a lot of great instruction. Also, go to the YouTube Channel by @Mr. Fox to learn all the cooling, undervolting and overclocking tips - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=MrFoxRox.

using Lenovo explorer (very cheap), my first time VR experience fullfiled with this gigabyte aero 15x v8 :)
    a very capable VR machine
Windows Mixed Reality has give me a chance to taste a cheap way of VR technology
and with steamVR integration added more games and apps, really fun ... lol

    --note--
Because I use this Windows Mixed Reality I have to update to windows 10 build 1803 and found tricks to play Destiny 2.
before play I have to disable intel graphics in the device manager also VR experience will be more stable if I disable intel graphics.
    that's it
Well still have bad performance in the fortnite under build 1803 but this is the only solution for me right now

Hi, I just want to know if its possible to change brightness and volume without pressing FN on the Aero 15w v8?
Is possible install windows 7? I have done a fresh install of windows 10 but its still slow and would prefer windows 7.

I have found out that some of the drivers don't support windows 7, there are driver on gigabyte website exclusive to build 1083 of windows 10, which I think means windows 7 wouldn't work. But I haven't tried yet. If you try, please share your experience.

There is an option to disable fn for the functions in the BIOS (forgot to add that part).

I think you can install Windows 7 because Gigabyte does have drivers specific for Windows 7.

Yeah, my solution was to disable hardware acceleration in chrome. It puts the load on the CPU, but I think it's worth the tradeoff, as long as you're not gaming while watching a video.
There's something wrong with the iGPU which is why hw acceleration is messing up so badly.
It should be fine if hw acceleration is off the dGPU

What's currently in my original Aero 15 (15W-GN4, not a 15X model) is a Kingston CBD24D4S 16GB, which is impossible to find.

Does anyone have a list of compatible RAM? Nothing on the gigabyte support page, or the manual.

1- No idea, I assume they're just bug fixes.
2- I would recommend it if the random freezes are annoying for you, but battery life takes quite the hit, what you'll have to do is just make sure to force stop wake GPU when you're on battery and deal with the freezes but get your battery life back.

Howdy folks, i know this is kind of out of the blue, but how is the display N156HCA-EA1 (CMN15D7)? Cant really find a good review of it anywhere. If you set the desktop background to orange (Personalize > Solid Color > top left orange) can you see any vertical lines of line and dark at all? or is it just a nice solid orange?

Need help) Today my Aero 15 (1060) was updated to 1803 windows 10. Windows became run slowly, I found many freezes everywhere in context menu, options, startup and shutdown. I know this happens when windows try to change intel hd adapter to 1060, but 1709 version has fewer freezes. Do you know any fresh fixes for this problem? Or better to donwgrade windows to 1709? Maybe new intel hd driver? Where can I donwload it?
    Thanks!
