I did not think of this as. Thank you. I was originally planning to have it shipped from Newegg to the courier straight away who will bring it here in my country.
What courier would you recommend would handle the shipping from my friend to the international courier? Are DHL, Fedex, UPS any good in handling packages like these?

Man. I really want this laptop. But it seems all odds is against me. -
Also ask the shipping service how they want the package shipped. They likely are experts in "shipping", and likely have better access / delivery arrangements with some carriers over others.
Maybe they prefer DHL to drop ship through their systems directly to youLast edited: Mar 13, 2017ranjim likes this. -
@hmscott and everyone here. Just pushed through with X5 V6 after hearing from the Aorus marketing dept that that V7 won't be having the FHD 120hz option (or any 120hz variant for that matter on the X5). Bought the Intel 8265 as well.
What software/sdo I use to check CPU/GPU performance and temps? And how do I check for the network card performance?
@bwolmarans did you return your unit?hmscott likes this. -
The Wifi is great on 5G, and total **** on 2.4G.
So I'm still testing WiFi dongles to find a micro one that will work on 2.4G properly ( not a big stupid one with an antenna )
I am still mad as hell about the killer wifi.
But I have had no more issues with anything else on the laptop. It runs ESXI very well.
I was worried the keyboard was too stiff ( it's pretty stiff - I won't lie - you have to push down really hard! ) so I went to frys and tried out steelseries keyboard on msi laptops, asus gl702 new and old model keyboard, and asus gl752 keyboard, and alienware keyboard ... basically Aorus keyboard feel is almost as good as alienware, better than others.

I second this speaker opinion - very loud and clear speakers. And yes I also find it strange no reviews cover the speaker quality properly. Same with the fan noise - so many review and youtube video about how loud it is, but very few mention how nice the fan noise is; it is not annoying at all, no whine, no bearing noise, nothing, just a loud whooshing sound.

You mentioned it was DOA the first time you received it. How long did the replacement take?
Really excited to get my hands on it.hmscott likes this. -

I'm going to update the results of my finding in the x5v6 wifi thread in this forum, please go over there to see my results of my testing. spoiler: I'm going to keep this laptop.

A bit worried on the light bleeds. Would you guys replace this or could this be fixed by loosening up the screws? -
Not sure about that light bleed. Reflections on the screen and general lighting make it difficult to tell.
Repasting... I think many really advanced guys haven't pulled the trigger on this laptop. I definitely want to repaste the cpu. Have to to keep good temps at 3.8ghz+ on 4 cores.
It looks like because the GPU sends a heat pipe to the the cpu side that I would have to repaste the GPU as well to take off the pipes for the cpu and heat sink. Or can that one heat pipe lift up from the GPU without lifting the GPU fan/pipes. ( GPU is on right when looking at the bottom)
Biggest question is :
Are the connections for the fans on the other side of the motherboard like the Alienware 15 r3?
If so..I'm never repasting this laptop
It could be never before someone has these answers. My IC diamond tube is drying out, lolAttached Files:

Ok...I was very scared to repaste. I had nightmares where I lost screws and broke things.
I bought the torxs screwdrivers set, ordered ic diamond.
Here's what I did.
Took back cover off. Unplugged battery. Unplugged cpu fan. Took out 2 screws holding the cpu fan. ( Used a magnet so I don't lose them in motherboard)
Undid two screws that hold the plate above the GPU heatsink. Undid 4 screws holding the cpu heatsink. Lifted up the entire assembly slowly and put it upside down beside laptop. ( The heatpipe that comes from the GPU side just pops out. That plate we removed is what holds it down.)
Cleaned heatsink, cleaned cpu, repasted using line method because the 6820hk die is little and rectangular. I used just a little more than I prob should.
I added a bit of paste to where the GPU heatpipe sits above the GPU heatsink. ( It looks like the three GPU heatpipes transfer heat to that fourth pipe and it goes to the cpu fan to cool)
I put the fan heatpipe/sink assembly right back where it goes and screwed everything in like you would a tire on a car. Put some paste under the plate that goes over the GPU pipes. Connect the cpu fan. Battery. Cover. Done!
I used IC diamond. There's not much in the tube.
The factory paste looked pretty good and I must admit I was expecting there to be not much of a difference.
I was wrong!
Before the repaste, I was 3.8ghz on 4 cores with a -69mv offset and getting about 91c on my hottest core on a stress test. Core 0 was often 5/6 degrees hotter than the other cores.
After repaste...I ran cpuz stress test and temps hovered in the low 70's and rose to about 76/77c. Huge improvement!
So naturally, I raised the 4 core multiplier to 3.9 and reduced my undervolt abit for more available juice..So now temps sit at about 82c on stress test which is super for me.
Very important to note!! My cores are all about the same temperature now. I used the line method for pasting and prob had just a little too much. It's a rectangular die so I guess line is better? My first repaste so I don't really know.
7820hk clocks stock is 3.5ghz 4 core..So I'm 400 MHz higher than that with a 6820hk and that's good enough for me.
I don't raise the single core speed over 4 GHz because I would crash with the undervolt I have. So essentially, I have a very aggressive multi core setup. If I wanted to go over 4ghz on single core ( and have good scores) without crashing I seem to need more voltage and then I'd have to reduce the multi core multiplier or I'd be back in the 90's again.
At stock.....Aorus adds a positive voltage offset so these beasts don't crash or blue screen. Overclocking to 4 core speeds near 4 GHz will burn up and throttle quickly. Gotta undervoltLast edited: Mar 26, 2017bwolmarans and hmscott like this. -

hello, does anyone here know which of the 3 m.2 slots are x4? i want to add another m.2 and i dont want to put it in the x2 slot

The 2 EVO's are in the x4 slots.
The toshiba in the x2 slot still reads @ 900MB/s -
MisJAH are the 2x8G in the newegg build - are they under the keyboard in those two ram slots? or are they under the back panel same side as the m.2 ssd slots?
-
thank you MisJAH, planning on getting another m.2 just like the one that comes with the laptop, a toshiba xg3 256gb and put them in raid0, maybe some copper shims on them.
Yea bwolmarans, theyre right under the keyboard, a lot more disassembly involvedbwolmarans likes this. -

Hello everyone!
I plan to get this laptop during early-May from Newegg(FHD 120Hz version). I've to order it in USA(San Francisco) but I will only get to use it for the first time when it reaches me in India.
The person bringing the laptop for me would stay in India for more than a month, so I wouldn't be able to return the laptop in case anything goes wrong.
Also he isn't very tech-savvy but can perform simple tests that only involve running softwares.
What tests should I make him perform as soon as he gets the laptop so that I can have a minimum chance of anything going wrong when I use the laptop for the first time?
Also, I've heard Aorus provides 2 year international warranty. Would anybody (pinging @ranjim and @CedricFP) know how the process works and if I could return the laptop/have it fixed after the person goes back to the US, and I'm using the laptop in India?
TIA! -
Here is a color profile for the 120hz 1080p version.
Its designed for when using full brightness. It takes care of the gamma and blue tinge issue.
Color profiles look good for some folks and others prefer a different look. Hope you like it.Attached Files:

Yo guys! Anyone here having issues with the latest version of Fusion engine? Mine gives me a runtime error and reinstalling net framework has not fixed it. Also, my C&C center will not show up on screen regardless of how many times i try to launch it. Any workarounds?
-
-
Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot tmr. What still bugs me is the run error when trying to use the fusion software. Its been fully updated via the driver update software provided in Aorus laptops

Also intel integrated clock controller should be running.
If you are like me and you use msconfig to limit certain processes from running, make sure that those two are left enabled. -
I'm going to try to reinstall it. Now its the fusion app thats bugging me. It says that its a microsoft .net runtime error. I have tried to disable and reenable net framework as well as reinstall but to no avail.

Hi,
I need some help ASAP.
While messing around with my display settings, I kinda managed to mess up almost everything in the settings and the whole display colour calibration is down the drain. Is there any way to reset these values to default or something? Or could someone send me their pack of .icm files and tell me how to install them.
That would be great
Thank you
P.S. Is there a kind of a disassembly guide for this laptop anywhere?

I know there's lots of room around the 6820hk chip for spillage but I never looked at the gpu.
Maybe there's a short circuit. I'd clean all that liquid metal paste off and maybe it'll be ok.
At least you can post so the gpu seems to still work. -
GPU doesn't show in HWmonitor and clocks show 0Mhz in GPU-z.

I'd get that stuff off of there. Those motherboards are like 2/3 the cost of the laptop -
Goodbye GPU -
Hence the blunder of bga..goodbye motherboardand cpu and gpu...and warranty if they see that stuff on there.
It may just be a circuit that provides sensor info is shorted. I hope u have that thing upside and getting cleaned up. -
Very expensive paperweight. -
Have you removed the heatsink assembly? Was there any spillover? And pics if you got em?

Maybe the only suggestion I have is to come clean with Aorus.. Send it in to them and hope they don't charge you full pop for the motherboard. They have a record of being very generous and understanding from some accounts I've heard and a personal experience with them as well.
I don't even think we're allowed to repaste let alone use liquid metal.
However, you may get lucky, be out a chunk of cash and have ur laptop back.MiSJAH likes this. -

X5 is going to AORUS today. -
Yes that is seriously impressive but looks like it came with a cost.... Also what i find strange is that your GPU did not drop temps at all

Indeed. Perhaps you could post your experience on the liquid metal discussion thread:

It would both help others and you can get much more input from people who swear by liquid metal pasteMiSJAH likes this.
