Have you checked the keyboard connection underneath the keyboard? On my X5 I could prise out the keyboard using a credit card.

I'm scared of scuffing up my laptop while prying out the keyboard. Could you explain to me how to do it. Would asking for a video of the same be too much to ask :p???

I have no need to take mine out again :p

I used a small flat head screw driver to pry it up above the 'pause/break' key then used a credit card to continue around the edge.

The adhesive used is quite strong but no damaged caused removing.

    Good luck.

    Merry Christmas guys :D

Also I haven't been able to take out my keyboard. Is it screwed to the chassis somewhere and do i have to stick it back again after taking it out?

So I wrote to Aorus on their support form, the one they use on resource.aorus.com thingy and they did not reply!...been 8 days and no reply....So I resent a message with a reference to the information pertaining to my laptop and how they could help and it didn't deliver, saying an error about some internal exception.
Does anyone know anyone from Aorus or get them to take notice of this?
I am posting the message below so that they can read what I wanted to send and what I, in a jist, sent the first time:

My previous mail has not been responded to regarding a messed up laptop by an Aorus service partner in Chennai, India by the name of Regenersis Chennai, a CTDI company. Job number is RGJOBCHN/1718-003433, Serial Number is SCHN/051553 and IMEI Number is GGG8C2111A0019. The keyboard does not work after delivery of product, the laptop cooler has been damaged and some CPU ICs are not connected to the heatsink either via thermal paste or thermal paste. It shows WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR whenever it runs on Aorus stock settings. I need to severely underclock the device for it to run. I do not appreciate this delay in addressing my problem. It is causing me a lot of discomfort and is impeding my productivity both as a Student and a productive individual to society. Respond to this form ASAP.
    Sincerely,
    Shauryya Pratap Mishra

Update..I cannot post to the Aorus forum. It just glitches out and takes me to the main forum page
Could someone please post the above message as a whole on my behalf?
If you can add something to gather someone from Aorus's attention, then please do it.
    Thank you for the help.

Anyone know how to reduce heat output from the GPU or maybe change the power limits as a temporary fix? Is whisper mode the only thing that can be done?

Edit: I am trying nVidia Inspector at the moment but cannot reduce the target temperature down. Whenever I try to apply the settings, the limits reset

Google it buddy. You can use ctrl f to bring up the mhz/mv table where you can adjust the curve. I've just done my 1070 currently got it running stable at 0.863mV @ 1800mhz

There's my curve there if you want to take a look. If you want I can put a graph up but it's basically those figures I've mentioned.
Managed to get it stable at 0.850mV now and Cpu @ - 165mV

you should try liquid metal as Thermal.
i using the thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on my CPU now.
use Insulation tape and some normal thermal paste to prevent Liquid metal leak.

30+ degree on idle and 70 degree around playing game.
and the CPU overclock to all core 4Ghz Turbo boost power 100 watte.
    0 voltage offset.

"4GHz Turbo boost power 100 Watt" I'm guessing you mean you allowed turbo boost to use up to 100 Watts, but it's not actually using that much right? Even when running 4.5Ghz across all 4 cores most I saw was ~85Watts on the package.

the VRM's cant even deliver 100 watts on these laptop motherboards so no it wont pull 100watts. just removing a limit I think.

YOu need quite a beefy power delivery circuit if you want to push 100watts to a CPU.

Just my two cents but it generally a good idea to make use of those limits. I always run a load test without limit and look at the cpu power draw that you can maintain while thermally throttling (around 55-60W for me using kryonaut). I then set the power limit to 5W below that (50W) and the boost to 5W above that (60W). Run a new test with no boost duration limit and look how long you can maintain it wo throttling and set the duration to a bit below that value. In the long run your cpu will appreciate.

what? My desktop with full voltage offset doesn't go that high. Did you use some custom driver or other mods? As for the drivers, I was hoping for a voltage unlock but this seems impossible without touching the hardware.

no im just using the 388.00 driver i got from nvidia (a bit old i know but i've been having problems installing new drivers). I know my memory OC can go pretty high. I ran claymore miner once just to see how far mem clocks can go and i got a stable +800 for mem only but at the cost of having to use a negative offset on the core clock. Only voltage we can play with would just be the curve to undervolt and such

Hi - i was hoping someone can help me. I just bought my X5 V6 a couple of weeks ago. It was new from a dealer in the UK, obviously the old model but I got a decent deal.
Generally it's been great but I have noticed that it runs really slowly on battery power - the graphics card doesnt work a full speed and the fans dont kick in even though I have the power settings up to performance.
Can any give me some advice on this please?

    Thanks

Hi again - another question for anyone out there with an x5v6. From the day I bought the laptop (just over a month ago), the battery wont charge fully - it only goes to about 82% - 89% after which it will say - "plugged in, not charging".
Aorus have been no help at all, other than saying I have to send it to their repair contractor (MendIt) in the UK (I am in Ireland), which I believe can take weeks.
I have tried letting the battery drain fully and leaving it charge overnight and the result this morning was a charge of only 82%.
Some forums mention disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it again might work - just wondering how easy that would be, I have already added an SSD so i have taken the back off previously.
Any advice on this matter of the above one would be great
    Thanks

Free friendly advice from a fellow UK resident - DO NOT SEND YOUR X5 TO MendIT - EVER.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery is a simple connector after you remove the bottom cover.

@archimedia a laptop is not made for playing on battery ... a battery cannot give enough juice to run cpu and gpu at full speed. Playing on battery increase his wear level. Got a P150hm in the year 2011, i played on battery and after two year got a wear level of 30% ...

For disconecting the battery, remove the bottom panel, then you will see near the battery a white connector plugged in the mainboard... you just have to disconnect, wait 15s and then reconnect.
I will post a picture if it will be accepted by moderator.

@Tonrac - thank you very much for your advice and the photo, I will give this a try to see if it will help with my charging issue. I agree with you about not using the laptop for gaming via battery only, I just wasnt sure if it was normal for the Aorus not to run at full speed when not plugged in, as my last gaming laptop, an alienware 17 r2 did run at fullspeed on battery power albeit for only a short while.

@Tonrac - thanks again for your advice - I did as you said and disconnected the battery for about a min - then reconnected the battery - put the lid back - and booted up - when I connect the power adaptor I still get my issue however - 85% available (plugged in, not charging).
Any other advice would be welcome :)
