    Hey Marrixster,

How are the vertical viewing angles of the screen? What about brightness and color?

They are fine. However, must stress I'm only seeing them from an inebriated aspect thus far.

Marrixster, is that the AHVA IPS like panel? Is it FHD? is that glossy or Matte? If it's matte, is the matte display very clear and not grainy especially on white backgrounds? Would you say the display is colorful and vivid and great for viewing photos and watching movies?

Perhaps the following link will provide more info. However, please note the machine being reviewed was pre-production. I've still not paid much attention to viewing angles as I'm always sitting in front of the lappy. The display is definitely semi-matte.

If the info provided on their Facebook page is accurate, we should see the p34g available for preorder in the US as of today...hoping Newegg gets it in...

I don't feel like the price is terrible considering the hardware they've packed in to the chassis size. It beats any ultrabook hands down and only slightly thicker package... Plus dual storage... Easily the best all around package for power/portable laptop in my book, I will be buying one to replace my U36SD that I love to death.

    I totally agree!

I was on the cusp of getting the Razer Blade. However when you broke it down the low rent screen, very limited and expensive storage options , and lack of ports really put it out. Here you get a system that is close in performance, but gives you a lot more in terms of what you get. Yet for a much lower price, especially when you figure in storage alone. Hard to argue their pricing when compared to similar systems that mix features, weight, and looks.

Actually never mind it's an alright price, it comes with a 128gb SSD, didn't read that far lol.
I would buy it in a heartbeat if I wasn't waiting for the P35K.

It's still kinda of a disappointment to some people, gigabyte said originally it would be $1000,

Do we have a release date or just preorder?
When will we see some detailed reviews?

I want to order it, but if it isn't out for a month or so, no reason to order now. I also really want to see a review since we can't get our hands on it until we buy it.

Nah, just been looking for the perfect fit, compromise between screen, weight and grunt for some time now. Sony Vaio S15 is my office machine, T430s my road one. Former goes up on the block on eBay later today (it's only been used for six weeks; love the screen, can't handle the touchpad any more), latter goes up as soon as the P34G is fully loaded and operational.

Ten years ago I myself would have gone for the P35K, but now looking to give up some grunt to weight after years and years, hundreds if not thousands of times trundling through an airport terminal here or there. That 1, 1.5# makes all the difference in the world.

Will it really make all the difference? Genuine question because from what I've been seeing, it will be only about $50-$100 more for P35K base config. I've had my eyes set on the 34G but I may be willing to spend that much more for a little more weight but way more punch in screen size, sound and perhaps even base storage. More bang for buck? But weight does matter to me so...

Also, does anyone know if the stock wireless card is any good? I only use wireless, even when gaming, and HK internet SUCKS. So maybe upgrade will be worth it?

I went straight stock on mine. I tend to do my own upgrades and honestly most of the stock items on this particular system was fine. If you use wireless a lot then the Intel wireless card may be worth it, however those are generally not too hard to change either. For me I don't need great wireless, just decent for work.

On another note I have bought 3 systems through XoticPC over the last several years. They are really really good to work with.

Ugh, 1400 is on the edge of what I wanted to spend. I'll see if Newegg, dynamism, excaliberpc or adorama has a better price. It might just be worth it to buy the clevo w230st. For the same price you get a little faster video card.

Yeah I was hoping for a base of $1300. I got some gift money and $150 bonus from my new credit card for spending money so I have a bit of wiggle room but I was hoping not to spend more than 1k out of pocket. I'm not a fan of the design either, and I was hoping the 13.3" package would make up for being fatter. We'll have to see.

Did you install W7 over top of W8 or were you able to dual boot it?

I have to have W7 to access my company's stuff as they don't support W8 yet, but may want the option to use W8 if possible.

For anyone else with it, what is the battery life like?

    Did anyone order any upgrades?
I am thinking about cooling upgrade. Do you guys think copper cooling upgrade is worth $59? What about thermal compound?
Since I never had neither W7 nor W8 i am also wondering if 8Gb or ram is enough for it?

Been very temperate in my patience thus far and am prepared to wait another 2-3 weeks if necessary, but for my PG&E, what are the "phases" we'll go through with Xotic? I've received two confirmation e-mails so far today, but am sitting on "Phase 0 (Order Received & Processing)."

    Thx.

Thermal compound is very easy to do yourself, documented all over the Web. Copper cooling for this unit I'm sure will be able to be found in the wild in the not-too-distant future.

And it will also void your manufacturer warranty as stated numerous times on their facebook page. You might want to wait a few months before upgrading in case you have a defect or something that doesn't surface immediately. Just a heads up.

Could you please explain to me what the copper cooling does and where it would go on the machine? Plus what it looks like or an example if possible~ I've never seen any company except for Xotic that does the copper cooling so I'm curious as to what it is..

I've seen references to LiteOn mSSD (which I think is just Plextor?), but I got no confirmation of that on US models.?

As far as buying from boutique resellers, I've gotten some real hit-or-miss info on availability. They seem very willing to do preorders and take your money, but then things get wishy washy with actual ship dates etc. I think they offer a level of service that is very very good, but based on very recent communication with a couple, they can't seem to specify when you're actually going to see a pre-order. Many people may be fine with that, but for me, I like to know if something is in stock and when exactly I'm getting it.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/727446-np9390-p375sm-vs-np9380-p370sm-cooling.html

According to this post all they do is add copper cooling blades to the assembly. I think they look like this after:

As someone with a degree in engineering I can't really say for certain that they actually do anything. They will pull heat away from your CPU/GPU for sure but it'll just dump it into the space in your computer. Also if they reduce airflow in any way at all that heat will just accumulate in the headspace and reduce overall cooling. It also seems like they add a bit of height so I'm not sure how well it'll fit in the chassis. Point being, probably not worth the upgrade, but if you want them you could always do it yourself later anyway for much cheaper.

A good company shouldn't actually charge your account until the item ships. I know xoticpc has the cash discount thing but they should at least hold off on billing until they know for sure when they can ship. Hopefully they'll upgrade your shipping speed if their is a delay on their end.

They add copper shims to the heat pipes to increase the dissipation area, thus cooling. They started this last year with the Sagers to help keep those beasts cooler after reports of individuals doing their own mods. This gave people who do not like to do mods like this that capability. Honestly not knowing this system well enough, I do not know how well it would work. I did it myself on my Sager and it dropped nearly 10c gaming temps and idle by 2-3c.

Correct, only a Gigabyte service centre can do any mods without voiding warranty. In the UK, it looks like it might be £35 for labour and £10 delivery for swapping the disks out.

Also, on another note, I've seen confirmation from a UK supplier that has said the mSATA is a LiteOn.
