That’s not necessarily true at all, why would you assume they are getting a bleed? Because it’s IPS? There are plenty of IPS monitors that don’t have bleed. It’s true that compared to TN it’s more frequent, but I wouldn’t say they “most likely do” at all. It should only be a small percentage. When you order yours let us know if yours has a bleed.

no not because it is IPS but because it is gigabyte and their quality control....most of these aero 15 have backlight bleed on the edges...ive got a thread in this showing two of my gigabyte and look at that backlight bleed they had...i wont be getting another and im sure the 15x exhibits these problems

So you are just on here to troll people on their purchase? Got it. I have used only Gigabyte for years and had no issues at all. Gigabyte doesn’t make the panel, and being that IPS panels have a tendency to bleed it wouldn’t be on their control. I have seen several ASUS, MSI, HP and Alienware with backlight bleeding. If you don’t wanna risk it just don’t buy a laptop that uses IPS. But for sure don’t hate on the manufacturer who didn’t make the screen, they just put it in a casing. Lastly how can you be sure the 15x is going to have the same problem if you don’t own one lol. I have seen a ton of reports saying no backlight bleed, because you wanna troll, you aren’t going to believe them but what people are saying is positive. You would think based on your past experience you would be celebrating a resolution if that indeed is what’s happening here

no.1 i am not trolling... i am not hating on the aero 15 i am just saying the people that say they have no backlight bleed on this they do...

no.2 aero 15 and 15x i really cant see them changing alot apart from the max q and some other minor things...so most likely it will still have the bleed

no.3 i actually think the aero 15 is the most beautiful and best all round laptop out there so do not make assumptions that i am trolling, i just do not like the fact it has more than usual bleeding.

no.4 i have actually gone through 4 of these and they all had bad bleed...the people you say have no bleed have NEVER posted on here but just said they have no bleed. the people like me who said they had bleed have posted... you have seen tons of reports saying no backlight bleed but have you seen it?no

With desktop back round wallpaper color set to black I am seeing no bleed around any edge. Maybe I've never seen the type of screen the other guy was comparing this type screen to; I'm no expert, but I'm very happy with it. Still so much to do; downloading Mass Effect 3 and Andromeda right now just to get some gaming time in on it.

What I was getting at was that one person's unacceptable level of bleed might go unnoticed by another if they use their displays differently.

    The Aero14 1050ti released about a month ago uses 1x16gb Crucial ct16g4sfd824a.c16fbd1 ... I'd imagine it's the same as the 15X.

There’s a huge difference between backlight bleed and ips glow. iOS glow is inevitable. I have some on the bottom. It’s not bleed. I have had patches of yellow all along the edges of screens before. It’s a steady but not noticeable glow that’s just the backlights. Only OLED can prevent that since it’s individually lit LEDs.

Yes I seem to be getting glow when watching the screen with no lighting in my room at night, which I don't do normally anyway. Some of it seems to come from the icons because of the matte screen. Actually I mostly use HDMI to a 40 inch monitor anyway. Thinking about upgrading the monitor to 4k. Nice to be able to finally play Andromeda and take screen shots at decent frame rates and max resolution. me1a.jpg me2a.jpg me3a.jpg me4a.jpg

Would you guys recommend the 15x over the 15, its available in Sweden for 2399€ for the 15x and 2199€ for the 15 - is the 200€ worth the better perfomance with the 1070 max q? Only going to use it for casual gaming, to and from school and for programing.. First time poster but a long time reader, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this :).

If you plan on gaming on an external monitor (high refresh rate or 1440p) then I think it is worth it for 200 euros. However, since you mention only casual gaming then the GTX1060 is certainly more than enough.

15 for gaming, 15X for better gaming with bells and whistles. ;)

Could you please share a link for 15X and 15 in Sweden? Thanks

You'd still need a paired kit (two sticks) unless you were going to do 1x32. Adding an additional 1x16 w/o a kit may not work well iirc.

common knowledge about dual channel memory.. they're sold in matched kits. you may be able to run two sticks with different timings, but not in dual channel mode. If you match the timings and brand it may work, but no promises on dual channel mode if it wasn't sold as a kit.

I think matching the part number/manufacturer in many cases is enough to achieve dual channel. I'll take my chances.

HID Evolution just updated their thermal re-paste options. Now includes Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut, Gelid GC Extreme, and Fujipoly thermal pad. I already applied for Conductonaut and GC Extreme, but not sure I should go Fujupoly thermal pads. Does it help? or worth $30 extra?

If you are spending he money for the repaste might as well do the pads while you are in there. They can lower the temps even further. Even if it’s 2 degrees. 2 can be the breaking point of the fans kicking in or dead silent.

Any news on 4K model? I was told by a Gigabyte representative that it’d be released by Nov but it’s before 15x release though. Ever since then, they’ve been kinda quiet about it. I been waiting on 4k for a while now it’s disappointing to the point where I just give up buy razer or something

I think this dude is working on Aero 15X review.

And he just posted a video about the precision driver thing (on 15X)

I'm not sure if he is confirming precision driver works well on the 15X though.

He kinda says it does work. I don't know. He mumbles out saying do it at your own risk bs.

Anyhow, there are links to precision driver downloads on the youtube description box.

I will probably do this myself or ask for the reseller to do it.

He has been for a while.
And you have to remember, the hardware change is very minimal.
It works the same way it would with the regular Aero 15.

Works fine for me. It does get a little janky sometimes, but most of the other inconsistencies are fixed.

FWIW I chatted with Ken at GentechPC today. He has his first batch of Aero 15X, He still lists them as pre-order due to the first batch being spoken for.

Thankfully mine is in the first batch!

Had an incapacitating experience during Hurricane Irma; no cable TV or power so I purchased a piece of hardware and downloaded Windows Media Center free onto my Aero 15x.
    https://www.howtogeek.com/258695/HOW-TO-INSTALL-WINDOWS-MEDIA-CENTER-ON-WINDOWS-10/
Hopefully when the hardware arrives tomorrow I will give it a go.

Silly to have all of this technology and have the cell phone, TV and lights fail. I think the local TV stations were working at the time though.
