They had free shipping with mine also. But it says for $80 shipping extra I could get it Thursday October 12th.
Turns out it's going to arrive the same day anyway free shipping with FedEx. Weird.

Here's a very interesting piece on the Aero 15x if you have not seen it already.

    Bravo!

Meanwhile I got an answer from HIDevolution. They say it was worth the payment for Aero 15, so I decided to stick with the minimum BLB option. Will post the BLB results and overall impression as reference for future buyers once I get the laptop.

the minimum BLB option from HID really depends on gigabyte, because HID selects the top 20% from the ones they get in stock. Good to know they are now offering Thermal Grizzly as well.

Got the aero 15x. No backlight bleed at all. The screen is a little wobbley when you shake the laptop. I turned the fans at 100% they are loud but not near as loud as the blade. At 100% they have a little whine to them, but if you lift up he back it goes away. I just installed my 960 evo in there and installing windows. It did come with the Samsung 960 evo varient m.2 and only one stick of ram.

Video for the fan at 100%. After watching it the fans sound a lot louder than in person hopes this helps.

Thanks quickie! Any chance you could upload some more images of your 15X from different angles (like the screen casing, lid, etc)? I would love to see how it looks compared to the stock images being used by online vendors.

I am really tempted to pull the trigger on this laptop! Thanks!

Yes. But, for the side note, people need to ask for the Grizzly on the special request note. HID says the paste is still undergoing R&D on their products, so its not officially on the option list. But, can be requested if customers want. ;)

What temperatures are you seeing on the CPU / GPU after gaming for 30min or so? With fans on auto and with fans on 100%?

Don't know why IMGUR looks likes its being weird, pics on the computer are normal uploaded them to IMGUR and they have an oil slick on them. The chassis feels plastic but after taking the bottom off and lol taste testing the piece its indeed metal with a coat of paint on it. Lol. the keys are a membrane but they are very clicky. I actually enjoy it over the alienware keys. The only thing I think they could of done better was omit the keypad and center the keyboard it feels awkward typing and not centered on the screen. They could of used that space for front speakers. The lid does glow white, I wish you can turn this off but i think its from the LCD. I have downloaded the HWinfo software so I can get averages while I play. I put Divinity 2 on the laptop and WOW at the moment. Its undervolted 120 and I have the CPU set to 99% now to stop the boost. I don't need a 10% fps boost to 100fps if my screen is at 60hz. Plus it will stay cooler in the long run. The speakers actually sound really clear, I understand they are not as loud but if I need to I have BOSE headphones lol. Hopefully this helps people out.

I have also noticed quickies also has the design fault of the left shift key being dimmer than any other key on the keyboard at any brightness levels.

I initially thought mine was faulty as I did not use the lighting at all and only noticed during later testing this issue, after removing the key it seems to just be poor placement of the LEDs that do not allow the true brightness to illuminate the word "shift" this issue is only on the left shift key.

So I had Shadow of War running on auto settings which defaulted a lot of stuff to ultra/high. I capped it out at 60fps and let it run for an hour. Here are my temps. Fans were set to gaming and they were not that loud.

Do you guys think upgrading memory for 15X from 32 GB 2400 MHz (not sure about the cards' brand but one 16GB from Gigabyte and another 16GB from HIDevolution I believe) to 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR4/2666MHz is worth $140 ? I'm not a big gamer. I used to play some Civ 5 and borderlands 2. I might later try out Total War Warhammer 2 and Stellaris for new laptop celebration though.

if you are just gaming and watching videos/web browsing stay with the 16gb more than you need. If you are doing vms and photo shopping get 32. 32 wont give you extra fps. The only fps you gain from ram is going from single channel (single stick) to dual channel (2 sticks) which is a marginal 2-5 fps on most games.

Can any one confirm the parts number for stock 500GB storage on the Aero 15x?

I'm assuming it is samsung MZVKW512HMJP-00000 but its from foreign website and US version might vary.

Awesome. That's what I'm about to do with HIDevolution. Gonna keep the stock and add an evo 500. The MZVKW512HMJP-00000 actually performs almost exactly the same as the 960 evo. Although I'm not sure if it uses slc cache like the evo or not.

The SM961 is the best OEM NVME drive available, so at least they didn't skimp on that. It is slightly better than the evo and slighty inferior to the pro.

So far so good. Mobile Advance sent a new and undamaged Aero 15x and there is no backlight bleed. It looks and feels thinner, firmer and lighter than I expected but just my opinion since the first 15" laptop I ever had was an over 5 lb creaky Sager laptop back in the 80's. Was so scared playing Resident Evil on it. Good times...
Nitpick: does anyone know where I can get an SD card short enough so as to not stick out halfway?

SD is a standard format, made to fit in particular devices. You might be able to use a MicroSD, but that's not guaranteed.

Could be that it's only visible on black, there are differing levels of bleed and most are such that you can only see it under certain conditions. On my monitor there is some but you can't tell if there's any color lighter than completely black on it.

well ye but backlight bleed on other backgrounds does not matter because you cannot see it....when you watch films and in the dark thats wen it shows....so when people say we have no backlight bleed it does not count if they are looking on a grey background...they need to check on black background...and the two posters here who have said they have none at all....they most likely do
