Been playing Star Wars Battlefield 2 awhile. Max temp was 69 Degrees Celcius. Hope that's a good temp.

A quick question, is your RAM single 16 GB stick or dual 8 GB sticks? -
HI,
I put Dual 8GB sticks Corsaire Vengeance. -
Looks like one 16GB slot for me:

I have a problem charging since this morning.
When I plug in my the cable to charge, charging goes on and off with a second of interval. I hear a ticking sound coming from the adapter (like it's having a short circuit or something) and I see the adapter light go bright and dim. Charging works normal when the system is off and there is also not a problem with the adapter when it's not connected to the laptop (turned on). So the problem occurs when the system is running.
I have not opened the device, nor have I ever overclocked my system.
Does someone have an idea what the problem could be? Right now I can not use the laptop connected to the charger. -
I pushed my tests further for my CPU (FSB: 102.8MHz ; -160mv max VID stay below 1v):
3Dmark06 CPU: 7932
3Dmark11 CPU: 9335
Cinebench R10: 5677 / 22422
Cinebench R11.5: 1.69 / 8.23
Cinebench R15: 147 / 754 -

Just ordered off Gentechpc and I’m excited. It’s been over 5 years since my last notebook (Asus UX32vd), but the discrete vid card crapped out on that 3 years ago and the keyboard had issues as well for years. I’m looking forward to what the Aero brings to the table.
-
I came from an Asus UX303UB.

She is still working fine, just felt I needed something more than an NVidia GT940M. I may keep it for a backup laptop, at least until I am sure my 15x is dependable. Hope your 15x works as well as mine. Love it. Happy new year! -
Hello everyone,
finally gotten around to put my new aero 15x to the test; Keyboard chattering is a Little annoying, but I guess I could come to Terms with that.
But the temps of this rig are another matter entirely, and I think I Need your Input here for comparison:
GPU basically caps at about 80°C, so far so good. CPU on the other Hand goes to about 60°C in idle doing just about nothing but looking at the temps. Right now looking only at this Forum GPU 68 and CPU 70. That alone seems way to high to me.
As this is basically a gaming machine i started up Overwatch, max. Details, everything seems fine, though fps described in some Reviews of just over 100 on average were not really reached capping out at 70ish. The absolute worst part was however an overheating induced shutdown of the aero.
Next try, one of my all time favorites, elder scrolls online... All Settings on Ultra as my wifes acer with a gtx 1060 handles high no Problems at 60 fps, so I figured that should be fine. Reached 50 fps only while Standing still, reduced Settings to high, got to 50-60...until the darn thin shut down again overheated!
So, i can reproduce it unfortunately as often as I like, have since updated every Driver including Bios, to no avail. Setting fan Speed to 100% prevents the shutdown, but only by a few degrees C..75% all the time btw is not enough.
While writing this, CPU temps increased to 77°... that somehow cant be right.
Please, dear community, what are your experiences while gaming on max Settings with your rig? Anyone playing Overwatch or ESO who might check their temps/fps?
Anyhow, thanks for reading, apologies for the wall of text -

Now I had this laptop for a while and my impressions have slightly changed.
I'll give my thoughts for anyone about to buy looking for user impressions.
First the keyboard is not as awesome as i first thought.
I mean it's still pretty nice to type with except two annoyances.
The upper Del key practically requires me to smash the key in order to activate hence rendering it useless. And even when it activates it often makes double key presses.
Speaking of double key presses, Enter has also this issue. Though "Keyboard Chattering Fix" program fixes the issue. Just make sure to increase the threshold because i have seen chatters up to 70-80ms.
Right shift key is slightly dim on certain lights as many other here have experienced.
The screen is nice but i wouldn't say it's the best screen I have seen.
Maybe the colors are accurate but i honestly wouldn't know the difference. Both MBP or my XPS with infinity edge screen has more eye candy though.
I don't know what makes me tick but I'm guessing it's either glossy screen or higher resolution.
I appreciate the factory calibration because the default profile is pretty terrible.
There is slight glow (not bleed i guess since it changes with the angle) in the bottom corners. It's only visible on black backgrounds in a dark room. Again, it might be troubling if you have an OCD or something.
Onto some good things, I may have overreacted to the hinge at first because it holds the tension really well even when on shaky surfaces.
The build quality is also pretty good with no flex around.
Performance and cooling is pretty good.
I'm on stock thermal paste, on a laptop stand with a 115mV under-volt.
Undervolt goes down to 150mV on stress testing and benchmarking but 5 minutes of gaming somehow kills it. Only -115 was stable at this point.
With fans on gaming profile, CPU temps maxes around 80 and GPU maxes around 70C when gaming with demanding titles.
I feel adventurous someday i might try liquid metal paste.
Core clock also easily overlocks around 200mhz. Maybe it can go higher but i haven't tried it. Honestly it's a bit overkill without an external g-sync monitor.
I like the fact that i can control the fans. At maximum it is very loud, loud enough that it would annoy other people in the room but decreases the temperatures around 5-10C.
At quite it is dead silent, even when gaming. Obviously it throttles the GPU on quite mode but i enjoy the fact that i can game silently when SO is sleeping near.
Battery is pretty good. I get 9 to 12W of discharge rate depending on brightness and power saving feature while internet browsing with some downloads at the background.
Just be aware that clock speeds are limited in balanced and power saver profiles, though performance hit is unnoticeable on light usage anyway.
The headphone jack also provides a good amount of power. My HD650 get too loud too quickly. Although the quality is not up to par with a dedicated amp.
Someone a few pages asked if anyone had a humming problem on power a headphone amp. I have a JDSLabs Element and i do not hear any ground hum.
However my charger makes a buzzing noise for about 5 seconds very intermittently.
I don't know if this is a faulty charger, my old ass wiring in the home or the very poor electricity quality in my area because some other devices in my home has the same issue.
Overall i seem to be happy, though bad QC leaves some poor taste.
It just seems that every device as some kind of chronic issues these days.
I played Quantum Break, Division and Witcher 3. Max temps are around 80 and 70 for CPU and GPU, and that is with the gaming fan profile, max speed reduces some more.
Try undervolting the CPU if you haven't. It does help a bit. But i think your problem is the paste.Holger likes this. -

Trackpad with precision drivers is extremely sluggish over the top borders of windows or across tabs.
Can someone try hovering their cursor over the top of their Chrome tabs and see if it's really slow in following your finger if you move slowly?
Combined with the keyboard frustration and double key presses even with the chatter removal software, using the Aero 15X has not been a great experience so far. I have been switching between my old Razer Blade 14 and the user experience is for sure better. And that didn't have a great keyboard IMO. -
I bought an Aero 15x at the end of Nov. And half month later, the laptop keep switching between Battery mode and Power connected mode when I am running games or other demending tasks.
Now it is in repari and they told us it seems is the power adapter's problem. And I could hear buzzing noise too from the power adapter and the light on it blinking too.
I have to pay for the shipping since I bought it from US and now I am in Canada. And the Gigabyte US customer service asked me to send invoice two times and promised to reply on the same day. Yet they never replied.
Chose this one after a lot research, probably the best choice for ultra thin gaming laptop if it can works longer than 2 weeks.
Changed thermal paste to liquid metal and undervolted 120mv. The temp goes to 80+ when I am playing PUBG with loud fan noice but I guess that's unavoidable for such a thin laptop.
Anyway, huge disppointment to Gigabyte. This should not happen to a $2300 laptop and my holiday gift gone for repair after two weeks of using! Not mention the bad customer service. Youhave to call US if you are in Canada.
ASUS was much better. From my asus old laptop. -
-
Now even after I get the new adapter, I will worried about it to happen again. And it may damage the other part of the laptop. -
So I will be putting my aero 15x up for sale on hardware swap, what’s a good price for it?
-
-
-
I downloaded a program called "Powerstrip 3" and reduced the Gamma, the screen looks much better now. Pretty close to my Razer Blade. Odd that setting isn't in the Intel color settings.
-
Hi guys,
I should receive mine in the next 48-72hours from XoticPC. I guess i’ll Have to pay custom fees (since i’m in Switzerland). Also took a 960 Pro with it.
The only real annoying thing to me is the 60hz screen, i hope i’ll be able to overclock the monitor refresh rate a little bit.
Also heard some rumors that Gigabyte might reveal a new Aero in the CES 2018 at Las Vegas. It better be rumors only. Would be kinda pissed of to see a new Aero with 4K / or 120hz monitor + 8th generation’s cpu coming out next month. -
-
All depends on your demand for now. For me, I need a thin and light laptop for work and can run PUBG at home. -
So i am having another glitch with the keyboard, when i play games sometimes pressing the number keys wont do anything at all or activate the f1-f5 keys above them, i have to alt tab out of the game and go back in. Does anyone have this problem?
-
I have been informed that the delivery of my machine is today. I just have some questions.
1. Is it advisable to have a clean install of windows 10 or just simply remove the useless program?
2. Is the precision driver a must install for this laptop?
3. What are the other things that I must check>
Thank you -
Clean install is not likely necessary. I did it only because old habits die hard. I used the provided utility to make a backup of the recovery partition just in case. Note: the first time I did that it hung and I waited 2 hours before I gave up. On the next try it went by pretty quickly, maybe 20 minutes. So if you do that, beware if it takes too long, try again.
Precision driver made a noticeable difference. Easy to do, so why not?
-
Hi guys, just got my Aero 15 X and it's working like a charm for now.
I tried to overclock the refresh rate of the monitor to 65hz with CRU and it wasn't stable at all! I'm back to 60Hz.
I'm wondering what's wrong with that display. I mean 65hz isn't a big change at all
Did any of you successfully overclock the refresh rate of the monitor? -
Also how can I download the precision drivers? Can you point me to the link.
I just have it booted up for the first time and I would like to report some things on this machine.
1. My AC Adapter doesn't have any USB slot for charging a phone.
2. I would like to confirm the stiffness of its keyboard.
3. The double entry while typing really happens. Any idea how to get this fixed?
4. The initial update is so damn slow even though I have stable internet connection.
5. The speakers are good but not that loud but it is a lot better than my sager NP8258 even though the latter has a subwoofer.
6. I don't know how to test the backlight bleed but so far I have not seen anything that bothers me about the screen. If
there are ways on how to check the backlight bleed, please enlighten me.
7. The weight of this whole machine plus its charger is very light or at least I got used to my sager which was very heavy.
8. The all aluminum back is awesome and it feels nice but it is one hell of a finger print magnet. The Gigabyte's logo on the back panel does
really glow but I just want to know if that can be turned off. It's not that it's bothersome but if there is an option to turn it off it would be great.
9. I'd like to confirm the dimness of the right shift button.
10. The overall keyboard layout is easy to get used to although its stiffness can be bothersome.
11. The camera is just the same with any other laptops, it's not great but it gets the job done although its placement is really a blunder for
Gigabyte. It becomes annoying when you I used it because I was used to it being on top.
So far here are my observations. I will update on some other things soonHolger likes this. -
hi all

having an issue with the laptop already.. when i try to Shut Down the laptop, the laptop restarts itself. anyone of you here know whats going on?
have tried doing a clean windows install and updated all the drivers using gigabyte smart update. but the laptop persistently restarts itself after i try to shut it down.

Ok. I just purchased this, and had it tweaked and some upgrades added on by GenTechPC. I have a couple of questions. First of all 1) I did not have them do a clean install, as I was worried about the correct drivers being installed, so I opted to deal with whatever bloatware there might be, which leads me to this.... can anyone give me their opinions on the actual bloatware installed, any worth keeping, and any worth ditching? If so on the ditching, what is the best way to exterminate it? Also, why can't I run the standard "windows 7 backup system image," without getting an error having to do with the VSC or VSS? I've never had this before. This one is pretty important to me. - WHY WHY is there CyberPower DVD on this? There is no optical drive, and even if there was, why is it an older version? --------
Last question - I want a hard case for this - any suggestions?
Any other tips or tricks would extremely appreciated.
I do have fall creators update on a USB. I could just install fresh from that and risk trying to install Gigabytes "drives" from either their included Driver DVD or sniffing them out online.
Lastly, really, lastly, I have the chinese lettering that shows up here and there, or maybe its Taiwanese, either way, it worries me. Why is it there, I know it was produced in Taiwan, but come on, couldnt they make it simple for North America? Why have interchangable Taiwanese lettering on certain things? This makes me very wary of doing a clean install myself & then searching down the necessary drivers are software.
Thanks for anyones help.

After send the laptop to repair and 5th email and 3rd call(not in holiday hours), the gigabyte us team finally got back to me. They generously chose to give me a mouse pad for compensation, while I paid more than $30 bucks for shipping and the long distance calls.
Now they are happy because they dont bother to reply anymore after I told them how much it cost and I dont want that cheap mouse pad.
I even offered them the chance to give me a steam card which you can get it from posting the laptop on your fb or smwhr. That post deleted now ofcuz.
Regret on changing to Gigabyte. Paid the price for bad quality and service. -
What about your laptop and adapter? did they repair and send everything back yet?
-
Finally - it arrived. Had this on order since October 18th.
At work but decided to check it out really quick and didn’t notice the keyboard RGB Fusion Software installed.
What’s the name of the software that controls the RGB lighting? Does anyone have a link on where to download it? Did a quick look on gigabytes website but only found the aero recovery software.

Did you look in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Gigabyte Fusion"? For some reason it doesn't show up in the Win 10 start menu and search. However, ClassicShell search finds it when looking for "fusion".

Because this model is pretty newn like serveral months and they already say "dont make the adapter anymore"? So I am guessing Gigabyte knew the adapter with usb port has some problem so they changed the adapter for the Aero 15x from now on?
Anyway, it is a big disappointment because I had a lot research and didn't expect this happend to such a mature and expensive model. Plus Gigabyte (US) is not showing any sincerity to this problem.
It could be a great laptop and now below average. The customer service is the worst.MaanKaas likes this. -

Just want to ask if there is a fix for the double entry in some keys when pressing itt (like this)? -
Registered just to comment on this. I'm experiencing the double key entry enough to consider my new Aero 15X unusable at the moment - despite a lot of searching I can't find anything close to a solution.
-
See post #336 http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/aero-15-x-w-1070-max-q.809281/page-34#post-10637070. Not a real solution, but some mitigation.

Using a higher threshold on that program fixes the issue for me though. -

I also find the chatter extremely frustrating. It is unfortunate that the internals/specs are fantastic but the basic things like keyboard and trackpad are terrible. The chatter is a design defect IMO and is unacceptable.

Why didn't they just use normal switches?
It seems most find it too hard to type on - requires too much effort.
And there's clearly a chatter issue.
Solution - normal switches!
Shouldn't be too hard for them to change the switches/keyboard for new or replacement models.
And why don't they just use a precision touchpad rather than a Elan one?
Cost cutting?
Not sure what the idea behind the keyboard is though - is it meant to feel more mechanical and provide better feedback? Is it a hybrid solution - not just membrane switches?
'Tis a shame. Appararent poor support, quality/service doesn't help either.
A 2k laptop should have everything right, or certainly come close.
