What was the original estimate delivery date of the second order, did they make it earlier?

Estimate for the first order = 5th March
Estimate for the second order = 17th March

According to the tracking details the laptop is still in China, so I'm not getting overexcited yet.

Anyway, once it does arrive, I wonder how long I can use it before it switches itself off... ;)

Right just done the 3d mark 06 benchmark on my dv6
    3d mark score 6776
    sm 2.0 2695
    sm 3.0 2653

No idea what these mean or where it ranks my laptop in relation to the Dell but hey ho.

Three years ago all laptops were made in Ireland, then they were made in Poland for two years, now is China. What next, moon, mars?

Unlikely to be mars, I understand that martians have prohibitive working time regulations and minimum wage requirements which make it an unnatractive investment opportunity for dell. They may have a call centre there, though.

Its worrying.. people now expect it to fail at some point shortly after arrival. Can't be good for Dell :p

These have to be the highest ive seen. Normally the WEI is restricted by the GPU, here i see its the HD. Whats the gpu you're running in yours? 5480 or 4570?

Price was cheap when I ordered it (£735 + shipping and vat), and then they knocked even more off when they increased (!) the spec of the GPU because the one I ordered wasn't available. I originally ordered the 512mb Radeon 4570. They emailed me to say it wasn't available, swapped it for a 1gb 5470 and credited me £25!

They made me fork out an extra £35 to get a 6300. I paid it out of protest as it was the only way I could get an order in based on my original spec.

It pees me off that they've automatically moved some orders across and yet want me to fork out for the 6300.

nwlondonman, I may be in touch with you for your order number as they aren't being consistent. Hope you won't mind?

Damn. Nice bargain there! The 6GB is ram is pretty sweet. Mines similar to yours but has 4GB instead and has a backlit keyboard, paid £740. Im wondering if they're going to be mega cheap over the next 10 days at some point in the 10 Days of Dell Deals... could even cancel this and wait as I doubt the laptop will come by April 1st anyway.

    Hiya

Sorry this is a HP DV6 which i purchased as i gave up on dell, another member wanted to know what it benchmarked a page or two back. GPU is nvidia GT 230M

The rest of the spec is pretty much the same as the Dell, not sure on the chipset though.

The only reason I think they perhaps were quick to get me sorted is that I have been on the phone too often with one of their 'Senior Resolution Experts' after I made it pretty clear that I wasn't going to speak to the idiots in customer support any more. I originally called him because my order was stuck in 'work in progress' hell. I assume that in chasing up the manufacturing plant, he also updated the order.

so finally i cancelled the order and got dv6-2106ea today. but as i want dual boot with vista and 7 i got stuck for the driver of vista. they r not very organised like Dell for the driver. i don't know whether i lost a great deal from dell or gained. i was so pissed of as i have seen work in progress even today. i have installed vista 64bit now installing win7. the vista WEI Rtting is 5.5. it's dame poor but in the shop i saw the ratting was 5.9 but that was win7.

Just cancelled my order. Noticed the Studio 15 is on the website now for £649 with the i7, modded it and it works out £50 cheaper with the hd screen and keyboard so im going for that. End price is something like £715 inc delivery. Worth it imo :D

I got it on their 2-day Dell Deals promotion. The basic price dropped to £649 (down from £699 when I bought it). Screen + keyboard is an extra £100, and using a Dell discount the, ahem.. theoretical , price of somethingl ike £1039 that it *should* have otherwise cost full price, I got a discont of £35ish. So It went from £649 to £749 to £715ish..

Got a long wait for the delivery though; cancelled my 3rd march order which was due on April 1st, new eta date is before or on April 8th. Im happy in a way that it doesn't come on 1st April.. if there was to be anything wrong with it I'd seriously feel like a FOOL. (April Fools.. har har..). Anyways, an extra week worth of waiting in return for 2 weeks of a travelcard is worth it (hard times of a student eh :( ).

Open it open it. You're my new best friend.. I need to know how the system performs... you're the only one on this forum with an identical (all but the 500GB HDD) to my system.. and im really curious to find out how these i7's perform in tandum with the 5470.. everyone else has the 4570 setup which means nothing to me...

Anyways, looking forward to your post ;)

Hey maxoutput, how is going ur dv6? i m frustrated. i have installed both Vista ultimate and Win7 ultimate. all of them r 64bit. my benchmarks r also fine for both of them. but i m soooo... frustrated with the VIDEO QUALITY. it's so ugly, bright and micro tiny scquare blocks that on the back ground water scene(talking about a movie) looks like solid surface. everything is yellowish (I am talking about video quality). i don't know what causing this!!! i tried lots of different players. it's all r same. i spoke with technician, that stupid person couldn't fix it out. and also i can't make volume on-screen disply working. i think i m missing some driver for this. God help me!!!!!!!

I responded above but as I say I haven't watched any video on it. I will attempt to watch a DVD tommorow on it and let you know how I feel.
The video card definately benchmarks better than the ATI , I think the Vista scoring system maybe slightly different to the win 7 so the scores may not be equal, I maybe wrong though.
