I owned for my work different laptop computers. My old Latitude D600 was my first experience with Dell. De Next Business Day warranty is very satisfying.
From that time I purchased a Latitude D610, Latitude D830, XPS M1730 (still without issues), Inspiron 1720 and just ordered a Studio 1749.
I can say I'm sort of completely satisfied.

Yes... but I have regrets (explain)
I got myself a XPS1330 around august 2008 with no special service package other than the 1-year that comes as standard. I spoke on the phone with a salesman and made sure that the gpu-issue was fixed and wouldn't concern me. I was very satisfied with it when I got it but then the problems started.
The first time the gpu burned out making them repace the mobo. 2 times ater that I have had the mobo replaced due to overheating leading to abysma performance due to downclocking.
I contacted them for the same problem again at the start of this year with the same problem and contacted them asking for a refund. They asked me if a replacement instead would be acceptable which it was.
This was supposed to be a SXPS13 which I asked to get with the LED screen. some weeks later I was told that the LED-screen is no longer avalible for the SXPS13 and was asked if a Alienware m11x was okay as a replacement.
I told them that was okay and is scheduled to have it arrive here around the end of this month.
All in all I am satisfied with the support even though it has taken way too long, it took me 2 or 3 mails just to explain to them that I had already done the diagnostics and that I was asking for a refund for my computer. -
My SXPS1640 has audio buzzing with certain audio and it's apparently a hardware problem (something is physically hitting something else in the machine). Annoying. Other than that it's been great though.
-
I've had some problems with my Vostro 1400 but Dell customer service has been excellent. They did damage my notebook when it was sent in for a minor repair, tiny scratch on screen and cracked palm rest, but they fixed all the damage pronto. I also have a Vostro 1720 I love. After being treated like total crap by HP with 2 factory defective notebooks Dell has been stellar.
-
Dell for me is a complete hit or miss. My laptops never had any outstanding issues, but they are prone to damage quite a bit. That's when I need CSRs...and their efficiency leaves quite a bit to be desired...
-
Yes... but I have regrets (explain)
I really like Dell hardware most of the time, but on the ocasion that it breaks down, I really would like to be able to get my problems solved the first time.
I am getting my computer replaced but it took me jumping through some hoops to get it. I tried chatting with support techs, I tied emailing support techs, I tried calling support techs. In the end, I had to email a dell corporate executive to get a response from someone who could actually help me.
So, yes I am satisified with my computer, but I think that support leaves much to be desired. I would even consider paying extra for North American based support if they offered it. -
I'm satisfied with my dell notebook even it is old for almost 4 years it never let's me down, and now i'm planing to buy new one and ges what? it will be dell again
-
I have lots of good experiences with Dell computers as well as some bad ones. I got my first Desktop (Dimension 2350) back in late December 2002 and still using it to this day although it have crashed on me a few times and it's mighty slow lol. Then I received my first laptop, the XPS 1330, which I also still have and it's a charm to use even though the graphic chip became faulty and I have to contact customer services for help which I won't want to go into details. Overall, I would say it's a 8 out of 10 in Dell satisfaction. :3

I have an Inspiron 6400/E1505 that I bought refurbished in October '06 for about $650 (plus another $150 for a year of Complete Care warranty). It was a GREAT deal at the time for all the computer I got (15.3" screen/Core Duo T2050 @1.6GHz/1GB DDR2 RAM/120GB hdd/Combo optical drive/stock integrated video card).
My hard disk failed right after the 1-yr warranty expired (of course), but I know that's the risk you run. Other than that, I've had almost no problems. The battery died 2 years ago. Since I rarely used the machine on battery, I chose not to replace it, and just run on power. I had to replace my Dell power adaptor with an OEM one I bought from Amazon for less than a third what Dell charges for replacements. The combo drive stopped writing DVDs after about a year, but I didn't really care. It still plays DVDs and CDs fine, so I didn't do anything about it.
I have been pondering upgrading the RAM for a while, as the computer is becoming a senior citizen and is quite sluggish (having the hdd jam-packed doesn't help, I know), but I've noticed the screen is starting to go purple in the corners sometimes, so I'm thinking of just replacing it.
All in all, it has been a great computer. I haul it with me everywhere--including multiple cross-country flights (at least 10) and interstate bus trips (at least 50)--and use it heavily every day. I love it.
Unfortunately, I don't see any Dells in the outlet with the sort of specs that will set me up for another 4+ years as this one has done for a price I can afford (or even as little as this one cost), so I'm in the market for a different brand. -
Inspiron: 1705: Graphic card died after 3 years. Became hot and noisy even after cleaning out all the dust. Most likely the reason the gfx card failed.
Inspiron 1720: Absolutely no problem after 3 years. Great 1920x1200 screen. No heat or fan issues. Totally quiet when idle.
1747: Unsolvable heat and fan issues. 3 error pixels since the beginning. Bad thermal design. Unsatisfied experience with Dell support. -
This thread is historical!
Well, after nearly 3 years, I am still satisfied.
Even w/having to have my 1530 replaced with a 1640 > then w/1647.

I have owned four Dell laptops:
1) Inspiron 8200 (Aug 2002 - Feb 2006)
2) Inspiron 700m (Oct 2004 - Sep 2006)
3) Inspiron 6000 (Nov 2006 - Jul 2007)
4) Latitude D820 (Oct 2010 - present)
None of them had serious issues. The 8200 did have difficulty coming out of standby at one point but that's hardly a serious problem. I also accidentally dropped the 8200's modular optical drive onto the floor, rendering it non-functional, but thank goodness I had "Complete Care" warranty and so Dell replaced it at no extra charge. So, my vote in this poll: "Yes, completely".
One habit that has helped me keep these laptops in a good shape is that I always open and close the display lid gently and slowly. Many people have complained about the loose hinges of Dell laptops. These people could have easily avoided the problem by handling their laptops more carefully. -
With my Latitude D830, I'm completely satisfied!
-
I was completely satisfied and then some with my original Inspiron 9300 it did everything I wanted...
My studio 1749 replacement hasn't worked right since I received it....
As far as service goes I'm completely dissatisfied.... -
Speaking of being satisfied with Dell, is it my location or is the Dell US website down?
-
^^Is working for me (tried FF, Chrome & Opera)
-
-
Completely satisfied after 6 years of Dell notebooks...
- 2005 Latitude d610 - its essentially still working, was heavily used until earlier this year!!
- 2007 Inspiron 1520, still running after 3,5 years without a hitch...had 3 smaller problems, optical drive, power adapter and display back had to be replaced, but otherwise it is still perfect
- 2011 XPS 15 R2, a week old...it proves my brand loyalty -
Vostro 1400 Nvidia GPU DEFECTive junk!
court ordered "repair" was a rippoff... the new board is same defective
junk as the old one. -
I'm totally happy, never had any major problems, not with my current AW or the XPS I had before... and I had a 8600 GPU!
-
After 4 years, my plasticky Inspiron 6400's fan stopped working. Fan replacement didn't help. The plastics don't look that good now either. Also, it had been too warm to keep on lap... so I'm regretting buying it a little. But it had been fun in the start, when I didn't need to bring it everywhere with me.

I own 3 Dell laptops (only one is mentioned in my sig): the Latitude D400, an Inspiron 1520, and an Inspiron 1545.
The Latitude is eight years old, and it is on its last legs. Or, it needs more RAM if that is possible. This was a freebie from work, so I've more than gotten my "money's worth."
The Inspiron 1520 and 1545 are three and two years old respectively. Both work just fine and have never suffered any problems. Except...
Two months ago, I dropped a cup of coffee on the Inspiron 1545. I really fried the monitor and motherboard. Right before I was about to purchase a replacement for my daughter, I realized that I had bought the complete care warranty. I called Dell, and I received prepaid box in one day. They paid shipping in both directions. I received my laptop back in about a week from the day I shipped it. It looked and worked brand new. This was completely hassle free, quick, and done correctly. -
Currently using an XPS M1330 and have been very happy with it and with Dell service. Had a failure from overheating, and they sent somebody the next day to my work who replaced the motherboard within 1/2 hour. Very efficient and minimal down time. The tech apparently does repair for various companies. He says all systems and manufacturers have problems, but he felt Dell did the best job of standing behind their systems and getting things fixed when they do go wrong.
For reference, this is with a "business" NBD support contract on my personal system, so response might have been better than for somebody with just a basic warranty.
I'm also a network admin for my company and have been very happy with various instances of support response on our Dell servers, from phone only guidance, to them sending somebody out for repairs when needed. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
My family has only purchased Dell since 1997, me personally since 2005. I have never had an issue with a Dell notebook, up until my purchase of a refurbished E6410 but Dell made a very painless RMA. Still <3 Dell.

Very happy with Dell. Also have had 3 Dell desktops with the only problem being a wifi card failing. I've never had to deal with Dell customer service so I can't comment as to that.
Laptop history as follows:
2002
Inspiron 8200
- No problems.
- Gave to a friend when I upgraded.
2004
Inspiron 9200
- 1 problem. Power connection at mobo broke after 4 years.
- Fixed and swapped for external and thumb drives in '08.
- Friend still using it.
2008
XPS M1530 Product Red
- No problems.
- Gave to wife when I upgraded to the SXPS16.
- Still fully functional. Might give it to a friend's kid.
2009
Studio 1537
- Bought for son.
- 1 problem. Replaced HDD.
2009
Studio XPS 1640
- 1 problem. HDD gave up last week.
- Still using it. Might give it to my son if the arriving XPS 15 FHD screen is anywhere close to as nice as this one.
2011
XPS 17 (L701x)
- Bought for wife to replace the XPS M1530
- No complaints yet.
2011
XPS 15 (L502x)
- Still waiting for it to arrive to my ship. -
very happy with my inspiron 6000/2005. 1680x1050, no issues. used extensively. still my current laptop.
-
I'm highly satisfied with my purchase and Dell have repaired any faults I've had, even minor one. Heck they even swapped my LCD panel to an LG one when I requested so.
My advice to everyone is to BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. Profit margins in the PC industry are low and manufacturers are trying to squeeze every penny by cutting costs where possible. If they could, they would sell us laptop made out of cardboard. Apple and Lenovo are the only manufacturers not competing on price and thus build laptops of a good physical build.
Dell almost always offer discounted extended warranty. Anyone buying a laptop more expensive than a netbook or a crappy entry level 15 inch laptop should buy the extended warranty without even thinking. It's an investment worth the money. From my POV it's a must when buying a high powered top of the range laptop that could potentially suffer a toasted motherboard after a year or so. The price of a new motherboard and GPU is often the price of a new laptop, so cover yourselves. -
I love Dell products. I already have several of their laptops. Most recently I purchased my second Vostro V13 before they were discontinued. I got a killer deal on one of their oops...we screwed up on our website price.
I'm sure there are many who have had bad or negative experiences. Most if not all have been positive for me when dealing with Dell. They have always dealt with me in a fair manner. They are my vendor of choice. -
Dell support is so bad...it is like a tragic comedy. Many bad experiences. My new XPS 15 gives electric discharges when plugged in a 2 prong socket... No solution and can't retourn because de 7 days periods expired.
Trying to sell this piece of crap. -
To be honest though, you sound like a troll. -
-
-
The Latitude D830 (in my signature) has exceeded all expectations. Has provided me with far more service life than predicted. My only complaints relate to certain non-Dell components and software that were installed (ie: HDDs, MS Windows Vista, Nvidia's bad Windows drivers, etc.) that certainly were not within Dell's responsibility and would have been present on other makes of laptop.
-
No , Terrible terrible customer/techincal service . .They just cannot keep up to time lines and the company they have outsourced their servicing and repair is terrible. absolutely terrible
-
my XPS 1645 works fine assuming you aren't doing ANYTHING advanced.
Audio Recording, Gaming, Converting something. Than it's overheats and throttles down - which is ridiculousness.
But the sRGB is awesome and keyboard is good. -
with regret...
here's my explanation of my new XPS 15z:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/587517-xps-15z-cheapness-showing.html -
My Dell XPS 15z was working fine up until the 21 day return period ended. Then the video card went out. I spent 6 hours trying to convince them it was the video card. Finally the overseas support guy admitted it was the video card. Now the whole motherboard has to be replaced and the part is on backorder! I tried to return it beacause it is brand new and (27 days) but no...they insisted on repairing it. No matter who I talked to from customer service to tech support they all insisted...repair..... no returns! Not a happy Dell customer.....
-
besides the 20-25 older dells I have owned, at present I now have
XPS 15, Inspiron 15R, E6440, Studio 15, M101Z, and Inspiron 15.
only problem was a bad CD Drive on the Studio, was was fixed promptly.
The XPS 15 and inspiron 15R have decent enough GPU options to be able to play some games.
The lighted keyboard options (XPS and Studio) are great, I wish all latops had it as an option. -
If they take too long, you maybe able to argue for a replacement. -
Well, my first and only Dell is the M6400 so no regrets there. I replaced my 6 months old HP 8710W with it and really love it. The HP still works at friend's but he keeps complaining about some stutter (maybe something related to the FX3600M). Anyway, apart from minor keyboard flex at some spots, some buzzing when the GPU is under load and a lot of heat coming from the desktop chipset they used (max TDP is 17W!! for reference, the quad CPU is 35W), I have no complaints. Even considering getting an M6500 just for safe keeping when this one dies out (since the M6600 went to 16:9 which I have a problem getting used to).
-
Semi happy
they decided to do away with the M15x and put in a M14x model
and also ad a M18x
they did not have a HDMI on the M15x and i think that might be why it did not sell as great over the 2 years it was out and decided to go with another mdoel
the Insipron Duo they sold to Micro Center with the 1.66 and 3 gig of ram
on there website directly they only offer it with the 1.5 and 2 gig
no ram or cpu upgrad otpions i get its a netbook so not much they could do with it but i feel they could have put in someting better then a 1.5 and offers atleast up to 4 gig of ram for it
shoot the one from Micro center the board can go up to 8 gig and suport it oh well
the Inspiron R is offered in great specs but no SSD or 7200 HD only the 5400
i know not many getting this system would want or need those but you never know
the CPU and graphics can handle it its not like it would not be there or work at all
but they are basicly forcing you to spend more on a XPS unit to get the better HD drive options new with the system oh well
there warranty has to be top of the line
never had a problem with there suport or warranty department but the fact that i have had to use it so much thats got to be a down side for them on my point -
For the most parts, I've been very happy with the Dell Latitude I currently have and the ones I've owned in the past. I only have some small issues with each series that aren't really dealbreakers. Customer service and support have improved over time, at least on the business laptop side. I haven't had problems requesting parts or dealing with charges to my account. I'm not sure about customer service in their consumer lines.
-
Hate my laptop (bought 12/10), will go buy another brand and will NEVER buy another Dell. Mine had problems from the start, sent back for repair and they did not resolve the problem but did give me another one (another problem that is, have script errors all over the place now). Would never recommend anyone buy a Dell. The little poll indicates only 56% of buyers are completely happy, nuff said

I got what I wanted and paid for. My old inspiron 1525 is still going strong and my new XPS 17 L702x is awesome. Customer service has been great the few times I've needed some technical assistance. I'll buy Dell again.
-
I'm pretty happy with my XPS 15 L502x, except for some design issues which annoy me (e.g. only 3 USB ports).
Likely will buy Dell again (specially since I don't have many choices for high-end laptops here in Brazil). -
My first Dell laptop was an Inspiron 1750.
The HDD crashed, and next day was recovered.
Excellent service. -
I have happy with my m6660 Precision compared to my last two units of m6500 (covet edition and silver).
The built quality has improved from the m6500 with less falling parts and constant breakdowns, lockups etc, there is still alot of room to improve e.g. the software is very unstable and buggy (easy to replicate the bugs). Since my m6500 dell has not fixed their software.
One of the example.
- The "Dell Smart Settings" is not very smart at all. -
Sort of unsatisfied....my Vostro 1510 has the defective nVidia chip, the left speaker doesn't work, the power LED doesn't glow, and the battery is totally dead. But it's 4 years old,and apart from the past 6 months, everything's been perfect.
