    I recently order an alienwar M15x system from dell, I'm still waiting for it but I was surprised by how quick it was done. I ordered it last thursday and I'm set to receive tomorrow somewhere between 9 and 5.

    They can stay in Production from anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, it all depends on the stage of where your lappy is "In Production" and if there are no prob's during the build process.

    Hang in there, the wait is the hardest part! : )

    now its build complete and the bluedart website says that
    pickup date 16 sept
    pune to chennai in transit
    estimated delivery date to be advised

    OMG, thank you for this information. Dell is telling me that my system will arrive on 9/23. The Dell website says "Delivery Preparation" but when I click on the Dell Purchase ID, it still shows "In Production." The last time I ordered from Dell, my PC arrived a few days earlier, but I was unaware as no tracking number was issued until after the first delivery attempt, which I missed. I was hoping to avoid that situation this time around.

    According to the FedEx website, using the reference number, it is showing a delivery date of 9/22, which is perfect! I trust the FedEx date much more than Dell's. Knowing this I can be prepared for the delivery. It seems like if I would have relied only on Dell, I would have missed the shipment again because I would be expecting it a day later (and would have taken the wrong day off from work)....

    I don't understand how the phone number provides extra detail.

    I ordered an alienware m11x on 10/3 (edd 10/18) and the order status page has labeled in "in production" since 10/4 or so. When I call the number on the first page, all I get is order is "currently being processed".

    Why don't I hear any subcategory updates??

    Edit: as of 10/11 I'm in the delivery prep stage. I wonder when I'll receive the laptop? I got 2nd day shipping with fedex

    Well I'm back after almost two years. I ordered my new laptop on Friday, November 12, 2010, and it got past processing the first time this time. :) The estimated delivery date is Wednesday, December 8, 2010, but hopefully it will make it by my birthday on the second. :D

    The only way they are already built is if they are Fasttrack, but all I ever see on there are Inspirons and the tiny Alienware.

    Does anyone please know if the website shows in production, but the status line states processing, has it at least gotten past the verification process, and the order is just sitting at the assembly line waiting to be pulled and built. The last time I ordered one, I got a letter about verifying info like two weeks after I ordered and they said they called me, but I never had any calls from Dell on my phone. I verified everything OK, but that added two weeks to my wait. Hopefully now that my account has been around for a while now, I won't need to verify again.

    Can you guys tell me what it is?

    At the end of acknowledgement, it shows like this:

    Sub Total: xxxx (the amount)
    CVD: --
    Delivery Fee --

    Yes, both CVD and Delivery fee is empty.

    What country is it shipping to? I'm in the US, and that isn't on my email anywhere.

    Can the phone status sometimes go right from processing to shipped, or will it always have in between stages? Thanks.

    i have ordered a dell laptop about last week saturday and it got shipped on thursday 12/2 but the problem i am confronting is that i have not received any shipping or courier information. The only message status i see is "in-transit" for about 5 days now and am worried that it could have gotten stolen or lost on the way to the courier? Does anyone know if i should contact my credit card company and open a dispute? Dell has already charged my credit card and i have no leads whatsoever of where the laptop is and dell's customer service is horrid and don't seem to do anything besides yak. I spent 1600 dollars & i must say, i am quite disappointed with how they treat their customers.

    Something that might be of interest...

    My laptop shipped from dell on 12/08 heading to Canada. I called Purolator this morning (12/13) at around 10 am asking them when it would get into the country, since their website just said 'In transit in US'. The CSR said that it would arrive in Calgary probably on Tuesday, 12/14.

    I hung up, and TEN MINUTES later, Dell calls my house, saying that the shipment has just arrived in Canada and to give me a tracking number (the same one I already had). I told them that tracking this shipment said it was still in the US. They told me to wait a couple of hours, or to call Purolator (on the number I had just called.)

    Weirdly enough, the Purolator website said that the shipment in Calgary arrived at 3 pm.

    Strange that Dell seemed to know before them...

    First off I have been reading this thread with great interest.

    Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and info.

    I have ordered an XPS 15 with 2 GB RAM added to the 6 it comes with and bluetooth. I have watched the status on Dell.com and was happy when it went into "delivery preparation" status. It has been that way for 3 days now. I called and got a status and the system stated it was shipped on Dec. 28. Well that is ten days in the future. The details page still shows in "production" status.

    Three different status from 3 different sources. I haven't called dell because the still have plenty of time on their EDD, but I do think it is strange.

    I ordered a Mini 10 with the XPS and it has shipped with a tracking number. I ordered a DVD drive for the mini the day after the first order and it has shipped with a tracking number.

    Should be interesting to see how this works out. I am patiently going to wait. :)

    Hey all!

    I just ordered a laptop from dell, the inspiron 15r.

    It was the one that said 'Ships fast'. I placed my order yesterday and 12:30PM and only received a order acknowledgement email. I asked the support people on the chat and they said my card had been declined, but I've not email to confirm this, so really have no idea what to do! It was supposed to be here for tomorrow, but it's looking very unlikely.

    Dell's website says it's unable to give me info through the IR number, but that's all I have!!

    I know!!! It really is. I've been told my card was declined, but I have no correspondence from them saying so! I'm just going to be patient and see what happens tomorrow, although I'm dreading that payment declined email!

    My order just changed to shipped, due to arrive on the 23rd. Not bad, that is 10 days ahead of the original EDD.

    New here. I ordered:

    XPS L501X-i7-840QM/8GB,DDR3/GT 435M-640GB 7200/Blu-ray/Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250/9-cell Lithium/Bluetooth

    on the 23rd at 7:30pm. Messed up and didn't get the TV tuner. Hopefully I can add it later.
    I'm sending the 14 in. back because I needed a larger screen and faster processor on second thought. It goes back Monday/tomorrow.

    What does "Your order is currently being processed" mean when you call the number in the OP's post?

    Online it shows "in production".

    Hello, I ordered my Dell XPS 17.3" laptop on 12/19/2010.
    It shipped on 1/2/2011, about 14 business days after order, which is some what okay. The guy from the Dell customer care told me it would take 10 to 13 days.
    I am currently waiting for it to arrive today, 1/6/2011. here are some details:
    It took a total of around 4 days for it to arrive!

    2011/01/06 10:24 On vehicle for delivery
    2011/01/05 19:25 Left TORONTO SORT CTR/CTR TRIE, ON
    2011/01/05 19:13 Shipment In Transit
    2011/01/05 19:12 Picked up by Purolator
    2011/01/02 17:12 In Transit in U.S.

    I will update later on when i it finally arrives!

    I don't know if this was covered in the 80-some pages in this thread, but this appears to be out-dated. I just called for the heck of it, and was told my order was placed on 2/02 (true) and that "it was shipped on 02/18, and deliver on or before 02/22".

    So either Dell has some cool ability to see the future, or it isn't in-depth anymore. :(

    I got a call from my executive escalations rep this afternoon saying my laptop had finished being manufactured, and how she made it sound it's on it's way from Asia to the US right now and should ship out NBD tomorrow or Tuesday.

    hmmm...ok. called a dell rep (LOL like they know anything) and they said the delay was due to a lack or parts (hence the LOL) at the factory. so being i ordered an m11x it might be the hinges or it could be something else.

    Anybody know the significance of having your bill/ship to information filled in on your Order Status page?

    For the first week or so I had my order placed this was empty, but mysteriously showed up today. My order has been in the Boxing stage all week (literally).

    You can also try it this way:
    * Dial 1-800-283-2210
    * (Dell DPA phone number, but you will be given *prompt* choices to get you to the Order Status System:
    * Then click Option 3
    * Select your purchase or your system option: I did #2, (since it was an EPP purchase)
    * Track the Order Option #1
    * Repeat one more time: Track Order Option #1
    * Then, simply input your Order Number.

    I still don't know the proper department/person to contact for order status. I called in every day, six days in a row, before my M15x was delivered, and got the run around every time. It took a supervisor in the business division in America to call me back on a Saturday to answer the "where the H is my laptop" question.

    First of all, thanks to everyone for providing all the information so far in this post.

    I am currently chewing my nails off waiting for my order status to update. I tried 2 times today calling in to see if I could get a specific update as to where in the hell my laptop is in terms of it being "In production", and I got hung up on both times.

    I ordered on the 3rd, and the rep stated there is a few days processing, ok. Then he explained build time to be between 3-5 days. I can deal with that. I'm on day 6 now(business days), and maybe I'm just being impatient. The EDD I was given was the 18th. I selected free shipping, which is 3-5 days Fedex. So to keep with that date, they'll have to have it ready to go by Monday.

    Anyone have any words of optimism for me as far as to whether or not their recent orders have gone smoothly? I'm going a little crazy without a functional clean system, (just have my old desktop which is riddled with issues from my kids' online adventures) and I needs my new laptop! :)

    Okay, got through to a rep. Was very nice, did not hang up. Assured will arrive on EDD, and status changed to Finalizing. Here's hoping for Friday!

    Yeah unfortunately they aren't very specific. I called every day a week straight, after being told that I should receive my laptop a week before I got it, and was told "it will definitely come before the EDD" which happened to be 2 1/2 weeks out/2 1/2 weeks after I was told I would be getting it.

    The frustrating part is the reps I spoke with (including a US supervisor) genuinely had no idea what the actual status was.

    It is definitely worth the wait is all I can say, although I know that doesn't help the wait at all. :)

    I placed my order on March 15th. EDD is April 8th. Order Status number tells me it was shipped on April 5th. My Account page says "Delivery Preparation". Order Details page says "In Production". Recent Orders page says "Ship Complete." I spoke to a representative and he said I can expect it on Wednesday, March 23rd. But I don't have a tracking number yet and I selected the basic shipping method. I'm hoping for Wednesday, but honestly I'm not expecting it. Very confused. Which should I be relying on?
