Chatted with a rep about what stage my XPS 17 is in; told to call Order support - got transferred to India, and I don't think he understood what I meant when I asked "what sub-stage is it in? Kitting? Testing? Boxing?" - all the guy would say is "it's in production".
-
1-800-433-9014: Is this number still supposed to give you the production substage? I completed my order just last night, and it is already "in production" on the website. But, when I call that number, all I'm told is that the order has been processed and has a delivery date of 4/13. The end.
Edit: Okay, I misheard the automated voice. It said currently being processed, not has been processed. So, either the phone status isn't up to date, or the website status is premature. Either way, *fart noise* for inconsistency. -
* Dial 1-800-283-2210
* (Dell DPA phone number, but you will be given *prompt* choices to get you to the Order Status System:
* Then click Option 3
* Select your purchase or your system option: I did #2, (since it was an EPP purchase)
* Track the Order Option #1
* Repeat one more time: Track Order Option #1
* Then, simply input your Order Number. -
Anyway, I think it has the same destination because the automated voice was the same and stated the same thing. It's just that the initial menu was a little different. -

Okay, I just want to post here that I've confirmed that, currently (3/29), the automated order status line is pretty much broken, at least for me. Not only can't you say "next order" to skip to the next order (if you have multiple orders), the status seems to be stuck several days in the past. And I've just confirmed this by talking to a rep. The automated status line still says that my order is currently being processed. The website has shown "in production" for a few days now. The rep said that it was in production, in the vague "boxing" substage and also set up follow-up calls for me to receive whenever the status updated. At this point, it would pretty much only update to "shipped" which I'd receive an email for, anyway. But, whatever.
Anyway, again, just wanted to post this in case anyone else is shaking their fist at the automated status line for being stuck. -
Called the Dell Order Status line, 800-433-9014, and it tells me that my order was "SHIPPED" on April 20th. Yes... today is April 4th and it says my order was shipped 16 days from now. Has anyone else encountered this?

I ordered a Dell Vostro V13 on 4/1 and on Monday 4/4 it went to Delivery Preparation. It's been that way for almost 5 days. What does this entail? I remember getting emails from Dell with a progress bar but apparently they stopped doing that.
Now you can only guess, lol.
edit: my laptop now shows shipped -
Whoa, didn't realise how fast their system is. I put the order in on Monday 4/1. I checked the FedEx tracking number and FedEx received the box on 4/6. That's FAST !
Estimated delivery on the Dell order shows 4/13 but FedEx says 4/12. So I can assume their was a total of 4 days from the time the order was placed to the time it was tested and ready for FedEx to pickup. It's coming out of GA so I assume since I ordered the base unit on sale with no modifications to the order they were already in the US.
I just posted this for the new member from India who's having problems with an order over there. -
The whole order status thing is about worthless so far as I can tell. The phone number still says it's "being processed". The web page says it's in production. I talked to a rep and he says "It's in production" and that "he doesn't have access to anymore status than that." While he offered to try and expedite it, I doubt that was more than placation.
So maybe the days of the production status are gone... or maybe it depends on where your system is being built?

Hi all, new to the site. Question.Ordered a xps 15r2.Tracker info on dell site says
Carrier: FRITZ - UPS. What is FRITZ? -
I ordered on the 3rd, and my laptop has been "In Production" ever since. I've talked to several different reps and they've told me that the laptop has shipped to carrier, but that I won't get a tracking number for a few days.
Is the tracking system on Dell's site always accurate or should I believe what the reps say instead? -
Great Wiki, I found it really useful!
-
My Dell order was being "processed" for days, and when I checked the website it said if there was a problem Dell would contact the buyer, and it actually said if we don't call you, you have nothing to worry about. After the status had not changed for more than a week, I contacted Dell only to find that they still had not processed payment because my credit card company wanted me to verify the order was actually placed by me. So much for Dell telling buyers not to worry! I was not contacted by phone or email, so my advice is - if your order is being processed for more than a day, call Dell!
-
How long does it take for my order to show up on tracking?
-
hey,
I ordered a Dell N7720 last Friday.
Monday I made the transaction and I got an e-mail that everything was received and that my order was confirmed.
In the last e-mail there was a link to track my order (status). However, when I go take a look at all my past orders, there is none showing.
Should I be worried?
Thanks for your time. -
Ordered my PC on Aug 10 and had it by Aug 14 from the Dell Depot. Ordered another machine from Dell on the same day and had it by Aug 21. Both times the machine arrived the next day after receiving the shipping e-mail around 10pm. It took another day after delivery received for each machine to show in the system as active with warranty.
-
In reality, how long does it take for tracking details to come through?
Ordered on the 30th April with an estimated delivery of 8th May - tomorrow. Planned my week around being home the 8th and 9th to make sure I'm around as I didn't want them trying to leave it with the neighbours in the flats here.
Now I have a shipped notice on the website (but no email - is that normal?) and a very vague "you will receive a tracking number within 3 days. Which seems extraordinarily long for a tracking number to come though.
I really need to plan out what days I can be home and need more than a days notice really. I've gone from being excited to being frustrated that it is taking so long and the 8th May seems to have gone out of the window and it could be....well next week? Who knows. Not the best service I have ever encountered I must say.
edit: tracking came through with estimated date of 9th May. All good. Just refreshed the delivery page and now says 13th May. That means it will be one day off being two weeks since I ordered it before I'll receive it.
Don't think that is too great to be honest and would certainly make me hesitant to recommend Dell to anyone wanting a machine fairly quickly. Having to wait two weeks is unacceptable in my opinion
Well, as an addendum to the above, this is turning into the shoddiest online shopping experience I have ever had. Bad enough having my delivery date delayed by several days. The tracking link from the Dell website no longer works and tells me the tracking information is incorrect so I can't track it at all at the moment.
Then there are the Dell forums, where they kindly inform you that they take 48 hours to respond to messages. Quite why I have to wait 48 hours when I want to check up on an item I paid nearly £1000 is anyone's guess.
And through all this I haven't had a single email keeping me informed of shipping status etc. Awful experience so far :/ -
How accurate is the "preliminary ship date" estimate when adding a laptop to cart?
It says preliminary ship date 12/09, what are the chances I'll have the machine by 12/10 (NBD shipping)?
Thanks -
Preliminary ship date presumes no delays. At present, Dell is waiting on a backlogged order of IGZO displays, which has added something like 6 weeks to the original preliminary ship date. If you ordered a 15 inch Inspiron, on the other hand, the preliminary ship date and the actual ship date are the same because Dell isn't experiencing any delays with that system. YMMV.

I called the number and all it said was in processing but the web says in production
-
After having my order canceled due to Dell's incompetence (trouble authorizing the credit card and absolutely no communication from them about that and not resolving it despite two calls to their credit card authorization department), I escalated it to the executive level and received a call from a salesperson who was able to recreate the custom order and make sure it went through and offered waived overnight shipping fees and expedited the production.
The order was placed and I now have an order number (on the first order, it never got past the purchase ID stage) and payment has been taken from the card. However, it's been a day and the order status still just says "Status: Confirmed" on Dell.com (and "the order is being processed" on the 800 number automated system).
I can't find any reference to an order status of "Confirmed" anywhere in this thread or anywhere else on Google. Any ideas what "Status: Confirmed" means? -
OK, so after four days of no change in order status, I contacted my salesperson again and he said their internal tool shows "In Production." The website still shows no indication of any change, and if the "progress bar" at the top is any indication, looks like they now only give three stages (Confirmed, Shipped, and Delivered).
Have they stopped exposing their order stages at all online? Pic below of the (new?) order status page.
Edit: Oh, wow, new news from the order status phone number: "Your order was shipped on June 13. Expected delivery is June 14." Uhh, today is June 7. I know that the Malaysian time zone is ahead of us, but I'm pretty sure it's not 6 days in the future there...
-
Yes, the new system only has 3 statuses and if you get stuck more than 3 days on confirmed it doesn't look good. I've had one stuck for 7 business days and all they can tell me is that it's on hold. Not a credit hold and it doesn't look like the parts needed to build it are unavailable, just "on hold". I'm told it'll get right by the end of the week. They keep offering addl discounts to not cancel the order. Soon it'll be free but it won't matter since it will still be on hold and my free computer will never ship.
-
Well finally received the laptop and it was the wrong color. Works just fine. Crazy (and sad) they make it so hard to order and then mess it up.

Anyone know the day the UK flights happen or what day yours tracked in the UK
Thanks. -
