Dell Laptop Order Stages Wiki

Thank you, Cin! Turns out Dell prematurely marked the system as shipped, but the tracking number has now been updated. My newest issue is that the FedEx website lists an EDD as Sept 2nd, while the Dell website still says Sept 3rd. I guess I'll be keeping a close eye on the tracking today! I'm getting the laptop shipped to a different city to save on shipping, so I have to drive out prior to delivery.

I can't thank you folks enough for all your help and assistance during this whole wait process! This site is an invaluable resource, and you guys are awesome!!

 

I finally have my tracking no. but the sad story is Fedex is showing Ground whereas Dell shows Next Business Day.....now i will get it on 9/3 as per Fedex rather than i should have gotten it today...9/1

 

Ordered a Studio 1555 (Pentium Dual core, 4570, 4GB RAM, GREEN!) On the 28th!
Went to preproduction on the 29th and the same day went to production
Today It went to Delivery Prep and then went to Delivery!

My EDD is the 14th - I am in the UK - Here's me hoping I get it early this has been one Agonizing wait and a half!

Still haven't got a tracking code though, and my laptop apparently weighs 0KG and occuppies no space :F

This website has been Extremely useful in putting my mind at ease throughout the process!

Hang in there! And I understand..it's hard being *patient* when it comes to your new lappy!

Was it supposed to be shipped to you Next Business Day? If it was, you should contact Dell and tell them that you would like some sort of compensation *in way of gift card* for the shipping error, as you were planning on Next Business Day, and that was per your Order Instructions. Advise, this would be something that would make you a Happy Dell Customer.

I'm sure your delivery will go *safe and sound* for you, and you will have you lappy soon enough! In the UK, don't they contact you to set up the delivery time? (The Courier).

Boxing stage is good! Hang in there...think soon!

I do think I got lucky though reading some posts on here, My order went from Oder to ship in 5 days (3 working )

I check the status on it every 3 hours or so. Heck, I even tried to find the FedEx flight information for Malaysia -> Tennessee/Texas. However I didn't have any luck

 

Do they actually update the status during the day? Or is it only overnight?

 

I noticed that at around 11pm last night my order was still Pre Production.

Dead on midnight, In Production appeared.

Possible its only updated at midnight or just a coincidence !

 

I thought I had read somewhere else that it was midnight as well.

 

Or is it perhaps the Order Status Line that updates at Midnight?

Although I always thought the phone number was more up to date than the website?

 

Welp, laptop was delivered around 9:30am this morning. It's working great, and is a definite upgrade from the Studio 1537. I am so excited to be rid of those touch-sensitive media keys and crappy speakers! And the Black Chainlink isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's at least unique.

To everyone still waiting, my FedEx ended up being very efficient and quick. Shipping information was received early August 31st, it arrived in Nashville, TN around midnight September 1st and left to Kansas City at 10am the same day. It arrived in Kansas City late that night and was at my doorstep before 10am September 2nd, two days ahead of Dell's original Expected Delivery Date.

The system feels very solid, and they wait was definitely worth it. Good luck to everyone else! Hope none of you get any delays or hiccups during shipping!

5.0. I kind of expected it to be higher, but I'm satisfied. It figure it will run Photoshop without a problem, considering my much lower-spec'ed 1537 did just fine.

Wow, that was quick - my e4300 has already shipped as of 4PM EST!!!! Original post updated.

 

Well after much research and fussing around I ordered my Studio XPS 16 last thursday night with a consultant, I have read so much saying that Dell's customer service is atrocious that I was a little worried but so far so good, she sent through an email confirmation after our conversation and details for EFT payment

Friday I called her back up to change delivery details but she was on the phone, she emailed me all of 2 minutes later changes made and 2nd confirmation sent through

Monday I sent her an email just confirming one more detail, she responds and tells me my payment has made it to their accounts on the Sunday

Email recieved today to tell me the laptop has now hit "work in progress" and they are expecting to have it delivered on or before the 18th of September

All in all I am quite happy so far, hoping the product lives up to my expectations and am awaiting its arrival anxiously and the dear old compaq I have been using the past 5 years will get a well deserved retirement.

 

Failsafe, likely that it will get to your earlier than that

Mine moved from In Production > Shipped in just under 3days.

It will usually start working in the evening when it ships or the following day.

 

Pretty funny...my laptop is two hours from here and FedEx shows on their tracking site that it will take until Saturday to get it to me. LOL.

Yeah, the $99 for a netbook was too good to pass up. And if I do get it early...well....well I'll be happy.

And the merlot looked sexy as hell. (I'm pronouncing it mur-lot to upset people I tell about it btw. )

 

Yeah I would be doing the same thing if I were purchasing either the 1340 or the 1640 with the $99 deal on the Mini 10v!

You might have spoken too soon, rang the automated hotline yesterday and that said the same as the email I recieved, rang it tonight and it said something along the lines of "this order requires you to speak to a customer care officer" so I was transferred but they have all knocked off for the day so there is no one to tell me whats going on

Call was fully automated*, My trackign number I got on the dell site still doesn't function however.

*My mother Put down the call before hearing it out, I was astonished D: she put it down straight after it said the date :/ - I hope it doesn't fugger it up.

 

If you had the tracking it would tell the date of the Scheduled Delivery

Still haven't got mine. I don't think they do a Option1 to accept etc anymore...

I've been in the "Build" stage for about 4 days and it's killing me. I don't know how all of you lasted a month of more waiting.

Thought I'd say, Make sure you (Or whoever in the house may answer the automated call) Hear the call out and accept the date it gives you, as stated previously my mum did not accept the quoted time (She put the phone down) as such my delivery has been moved to tomorrow after receiving the call again (This time me answering it and accepting the delivery date)

 

Well mine arrived today at about 9.25am am posting this on it now! Time to have a play

My Mini10v shipped today and is for some reason showing 9/12 as an EDD. That's Saturday. So I'll get it Monday 9/14 if all goes well.

The SXPS 16 should ship tomorrow, it's been one day behind the Mini10v since the beginning.

Cool deal. Didn't know that, so Saturday looks like a fun fun day for me.

Tuesday's the delivery day for my SXPS. 2 weeks isn't bad at all.

 

And there's finally a hiccup. Both orders are showing "Initiated" for a day and a half now. So close, but getting it tomorrow with 3-5 day shipping from Tennessee is looking like it's not happening. (I live in NY.)

After ringing Dell again today mine is coming from China,I've been told usually for Irish dell orders(from other customers) is 2-5 working days,Mines been shipping for 3.4 working days So it might be here Monday or Tuesday
