Call and speak with a Rep, they may be able to help you out! And, also give you more *concrete* information! ;)

I would trust what the Rep says. I believe it's in production too.

Dell needs to somehow find a way to sync online status vs. automated. So they are saying the same information. It, cannot be that hard.

And, it would make it easy on consumers, such as you and myself! :)

Well, that's good to know, because from what I gather, preproduction is not a good stage to be in since it means that they are waiting for some parts. Knowing that this is not the case brings back hope that my laptop will be here sooner ;)

I ordered my 1640 on 7/17/09, and it was delivered on 7/27/09.
That is only five business days, not counting the two weekends.
In fact, would have been here a day earlier but the Fedex 2nd day shipping I paid for happened to fall on the weekend, or it would have been here in only 1 week!

SHOUT OUT TO SLEEY!! If you have Dell DPA..you know to Dial that number for Dell Financial Services, and the Options are there for you to follow the prompts (Option 1 for this, option 2 for that, yada, yada)! It's spelled out plain and simple when you call the 800 number. Very similar..but it isn't copying, I took it from my own notes, as I was listening to the prompts...

Nice how you went back and dug up an old post, must be a slow night! :D /end

    Cheers!

    Mine says :

    31-Jul-2009 Order Received
    05-Aug-2009 Work in Progress
    10-Aug-2009 Manufacturing Build Complete

    NEXT is :

    Ship From Factory ?
    Arrive in Singapore?
    With Local Carrier?
    Delivered?

Hmm, when do you think i can actually receive that good?
Btw, the sales told me it was assembled in Malaysia.

Intel pro also assembled there right? Or China.. which ever closer to the selling area.

Hello, I'm new here. I'm just posting this for the hell of it, not because there's any particular issue. But I will ask a question, I suppose, so it's worth posting anyway.

I ordered an Inspiron 1545 in late July. It said the expected delivery day was the tenth of August, which is today. Just today I checked Purolator and it turns out that the laptop got to Calgary. I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, you see, and the order shipped from somewhere in the U.S. Its status now is "Shipment In Transit," so I am assuming that it's on its way to Winnipeg. Would it be safe to say that it should come tomorrow? This question is mainly directed at Canadians or anyone with a knowledge of the distances between provinces. If you're not familiar with the Canadian map, here's ones for a quick reference.

    http://beertalking.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/canada-map1.jpg

Calgary is in Alberta, Winnipeg is in Manitoba. More specifically, they are 1337km (haha) away according to my iPhone. So what do you guys think?

If you're curious for whatever reason, I got it customized with a P8600, an ATi HD4330, 4GB of 800MHz RAM, a 320GB HDD, X-Fi sound, no webcam, and a Bluray option, as well as Bluetooth.

Hah, I got a call yesterday about a package waiting for me at the Purolator in Winnipeg. I got excited and went first thing today to go pick it up.

Turned out to be my dad's weather mats that he ordered online. D:
Anyway, I'm just waiting for a call any time now. Thanks for the friendly responses, guys. :)

Hey there! Might I ask how you are finding out the specifics concerning the status of your order? I ordered on the 19th and talked to a rep that only told me what was already on the order status page. Does your order status still say "in production?" Mine is expected to be delivered on 9/4 as well. Thanks!!

To find out the details, i saw a post which had the information - you have to call a number.. i will post the information here again ...

    -------------
    Dial 1-800-283-2210
(Dell DPA phone number, but you will be given *prompt* choices to get you to the Order Status System:
    Then click Option 3
Select your purchase or your system option: I did #2, (since it was an EPP purchase)
    Track the Order Option #1
Repeat one more time: Track Order Option #1
Then, simply input your Order Number.
    ------------

Cool ! your specs are more powerful - i mean the graphics card, hard disk and RAM, maybe sometimes it takes time here and there. Look for the status on phone, if it says boxing, most likely it will ship within 3 days, since nowadays with the good discounts, sales are pretty high.

Best of luck .. yes your wait will be over soon, i am sure you will get is before your expected date (sep 4) thats sure. So till then enjoy the wait, thats also fun ;-)

Thanks again! It's been great to be able to be able to compare my order status to yours, so thank you for sharing! I just called the automated line and learned my system is in the Build stage and has an expected ship date of August 31st. So not too far away! I'm sure your system will be great and I am glad the wait is almost over for you!

Does the detailed status apply to E6500 Latitude as well as i placed order on
8/25 - went from Payment to In-Production same day
8/29 - Finally Shipped (no tracking no)
Upgraded to Next Day business but Expected Delivery shows
    9/4
Does not make sense, i expect it to be on 9/1 or 9/2 for NBD.
Any experience with Latitude shipments, where are they made and shipping routes...I could not in the phone no. find a way to get more detailed status...

you should get tracking information by the end of the day it says shipped. and once you get that your expected date will be updated - it will show a new earlier date and in brackets it will indicate updated. So patience is the key :) congrats on the shipping.

No updates even so far.....on the tracking no...what carrier does dell use in the US. It says shipped to Carrier on 8/29 but no update. The agent had already updgraded to Next BD....but that is no value if it does not get to Carrier today...

do the agents have more infor...should i call them ?

Mine was marked as "shipped" hours ago and is also lacking any tracking information, which is quite frustrating. I have ordered several things online and there is never any difficulty nor lengthy wait getting the tracking information. You'd think such valuable items would get that information immediately. My EDD was already updated despite the lack of tracking info. Again, doesn't make sense.

Dont worry, your tracking information will be updated. The EDD is final, so dont worry, even if you dont see tracking, you will get it on EDD 100%.
Tracking information usually takes about 12-24 hours to be updated, since they actually require FEDEX to pick up the shipment, though its ready from dell's point of view. Just wait for 4-8 hours more , you will surely have your information, i have gone through the same thing recently so i assure you that.
Also yes it is FEDEX home delivery and mine shipped from Reno NV. I dont know about express/next day delivery, they might use other carriers for that, mine was so called as 3-5 day shipping, though it was actually 1-7 days, since the FEDEX ground maps show that i will get in 1 day, people around Reno NV, like most of california gets in 1 day.

You can also go to www.fedex.com, Under The Track Tab at the top, Click Track By Reference Number; Then add your Order Number as your Ref.
