If doing on 7577 you will mainly feel issue with wifi card(maybe with Ethernet card also but i dont remember exact model in this laptop; still waiting for mine to arrive).
Wifi and GPU drivers will only be main issues in hackintosh.

Update: GPU drivers are not issues and tgey have got intel 7260 and 8260 to get recognized by os.

Well, its me again. After spending $60 to acquired the 7920HQ BGA CPU and replaced it, well it works. But the results, not much gain from default stock 7700HQ and during replacement, accidentally broke the battery header (the system will not boot without battery, weird, forced me to DIY a new header for it). Done the CPU, now come to the screen upgrade. I found this panel B156HAN04.5 , specs are nice, WCG, IGZO, 120Hz, and based on the dimension and cable it fit our 7577/7567. Price also decent ($102 with free shipping on Aliexpress). Could this working fine without the brightness issue like some other 120Hz panels?

I was getting a kernel panic last time I tried booting into the installer itself. Based on the console output it looks like its because I need to integrate touchpad drivers (VoodooI2C) into clover manually but I'm not 100% sure how to get it all working just yet. I need to read up more on patching a few things in order to get it working on a laptop hackintosh rather than desktop hardware that is considered the norm for Hackintosh installs and guides, etc.

I also have a really well done Dell7567 how-to linked in my other main Dell7577 thread. I am using that as a base at least.

Wow CPU soldering. Unlocked CPU wasn't possible on 7577?

7577 supports it but I dont think it will support overclock with multipliers. TBH, I dont even think our 7577 cooling system can handle OC, even with stock 7700HQ and it reached 8x when under full load

So finally I got mine today. I feel that bezels are a little bit loose specially in the bottom
If you press in bottom near Dell logo you can head a click. Is this only with me or anyone else has noticed this.

You can pull the bezel off and reattach it. I did it a few times on the last one i had. Also when the lid is closed looking at the back of the machine make sure you dont see a gap there because there are clips along the hinge part that sometimes are not attached properly at the factory.

Hey spektykles, can you post a bit more on this? The idea of this machine with a 7920HQ is mind bending! Do you know if the 7300HQ unit would support a CPU replacement (I'm assuming no difference between the 7700HQ & 7300HQ units).

A mini instruction guide or lessons learned would be awesome (The battery Cap for example).

    Thank you

Pubg at High, with latest Nvidia drivers [391.01] @ 1080p is getting easily 60FPS with the 7300HQ line.

I have i5 7300HQ, 8GB ram and 1060 max Q 6gb and i have about 50-110 fps on very low-medium settings, but it's dropping sometimes to 40, for example when i'm driving by car or when i jump down from plane. Could you show me your settings in nvidia control panel? (maybe some screenshot?)

This is when the laptop is plugged in: everything is standard except for 'Prefer Maximum Performance' under power. There is a +100/+100 overclock to the GPU but that's probably 1%.

The real boost came from switching the game from windowed mode to full-screen, there is some weird interaction with the iGPU when it's borderless window. I was getting horrible stutter; give that a shot.

There are some drops, mostly at the match start.

What does it mean? I dont understand :/ soo maybe show me your graphic settings in PUBG, i try set the same like yours and then check fps. And what about drivers? Do you use for example Driver Booster to update drivers? Or just install updates from Dell official site?

Sorry, 100+ Core / 100+ Memory overclock via MSI Afterburner. The 1% implies its probably a very small gain.

I had formatted the harddrive with a clean windows install to remove any manufacture software. I did not use DDU to clean install.
The Nvidia drivers I used were the latest ones: https://www.anandtech.com/show/12486/nvidia-releases-39101-whql-driver

Seems normal to me, you're limited by the speed of your CPU. The 7700HQ would have been a better choice for CS GO but would not be groundbreaking. Outside of getting something with desktop or unlocked processor you're out of luck in getting 200+ FPS.

Ok, i understand.. but if i watch this: , where guy has 200-300 FPS on:
CPU:- intel core i7 7700HQ @ 2.8GHz GPU:- NVIDIA GeForce gtx 1060 3gb max q. He has better CPU, but worse GPU and he has 100 FPS more than me... it's weird for me ;/

I'll go back to my comment on fullscreen vs borderless window. While I don't understand why 100%, there appears to be some major gains (at least in my testing) between the two. Give that a shot.

GPU doesn't play a huge role in CS GO, CPU trumps it. What are your settings? He's got everything on low.

Hello guys, I have an audio issue with the 7577 that has been bugging me for more than 2 weeks.
It started when I was annoyed by the fact that the audio didn't work with the headphones ( a minor issue, compared to the current state).
It would just work on the speakers if you didn't connect your headphones to the jack before booting. (the realtek driver does not recognize speakers/headphones as separate outputs). The audio was just fine, though.

The major issue started when I decided to update the driver...The realtek audio was horrible, with no bass and grainy, hollow sound quality. I tried to roll back, but there was no option at device manager, nor on my PC.

I tried deleting and reinstalling the drivers from both dell and realtek, and also through windows update, but it still sounds terrible. Also tried installing some of the older drivers, it didn't fix the solution. Disabling/uninstalling wavesmaxaudio, disabling sound enhancements made no difference at all.

As for a temporary solution, I am just using the default HD driver for windows, but it comes with it's own set of issues. The bass issue and distortion is fixed, but it still isn't as good as before updating. The soundstage is narrow, there is a distinct and frequent pop before playing audio, and there is some latency issue when right clicking.

I know it's not my headphones, as i have used it with both my phone and my other laptop without any issue. I have searched around the internet and I have found only 2 relevant links (1) (2) for the issue (on dell forums).
I have tried each and every solution from that thread, none of them worked.
Short of a factory reset(which I really don't want to do, as I don't want to reinstall/download pictures, documents, games, video editing software), I'm not seeing any solution to this problem.
I would be really thankful if someone helped me resolve this issue.
    EDIT:
I'll post this on the dell forums too, will inform back if I find any solution.

Did you see my post recently? It's a Windows 10 issue in general. It does seem to coincide specifically with recent generations of Realtek and Intel hardware/drivers more heavily though. This issue is on my list of To-Dos as well. I may try seeing if a Win7 driver can be forced to work. I'll have to double check if the issue is present at all on my Win7 install first tho.

Hey guys. Does the model with 4K panel, an i7 and 1060 MQ have a NVME slot for the SSD? I want to change the stock sata SSD with a Samsung Pro Evo 250GB.

Yes, sure. But don't change a 256GB SATA against a 256GB NVME, there won't be a feelable difference.

Changing the M.2 SSD is a terrible job at this machine. You have to disassemble the whole laptop.

A Big SATA 2,5" SSD might be the better choice.

Good idea, but a pain to accomplish.

128GB for Windows and programs and a big SATA SSD might be the better choice.

Why do you say it's so difficult? I thought it was just a matter of removing the panel on the base and you were good to go.

Smh... This is incorrect. The 7577 has a single screw on the bottom panel to access all the important hardware. It is quite possibly the easiest laptop of this caliber to deal with.

It is easy. 1 screw, 1 panel to pop, then you're in.

I'm considering the Inspiron 15 7577 with the i7-7700HQ, 256GB/1 TB drive as a replacement for an old Asus Z71A. Yes, that's an ancient laptop.. but it runs Win10 pro! Very slowly though.

Can anyone confirm the m.2 card is 4x PCIe? I'm specifically looking at the 256GB model so I have some headroom for things that default save to the c:\ drive.. and programs I forget to change the default save option.

If the m.2 slot is SATA, then I will look elsewhere. But I think it's 4x PCIe as per the description, "NVMe PCIe SSDs run up to 4x quicker than conventional SATA."

Guys, what can you say about HPET? Is it possible to turn it on/off in ours laptops in BIOS? I tried to turn on this by commands in CMD. I've noticed increase FPS, for example in CS:GO +15 FPS and i think that windows running better. But i don't know that is safe...

I'd just like to post an update that since my mobo died and I've returned the laptop I am yet to get it back. This was 4 weeks ago and thankfully it was during my break period (rip games) but collage started for me again and now it's a bit frustrating since I'll be needing that laptop back.
The service center is not being very communicative with what the issue is ("We're ordering parts") and doesn't really want to tell me if they've replaced the motherboard which frustrates the hell out of me.
I'm happy that everyone else is having mostly positive experiences and that I am the black sheep here tho.

I feel bad every time I call. Like I work in tech support part time at a local foot ball club and I know how annoying customers can be. But come on, you can't be just "ordering parts".
I'll call in tomorrow and hopefully get some better results.

I had the same problem with the audio as you i think. The headphones were only recognised when plugged in before booting the laptop. After uninstalling all audio related stuff in device manager, restarting and running windows update i have no more audio issues. The headphones are recognised immediately and the sound is very good.

Damn, so I thought I had heard the slightest funny sound when listening to the fans of this (replacement) 7577 when I first got it... like the slightest rub happening or something.

I was just listening a little closer and holding my laptop with both hands to move it around a bit and found the slightest movement causes the rubbing sound to get a tiny bit louder in addition to the sound getting louder when handling it around the fan on that side (under the escape key).

To be clear you have to put your ear right up next to the bottom of the laptop to hear it, so whatever it is is minor... but the fan on the right side (under the power button) is completely silent when handled and moved around in the same ways.

It's almost as if one of my fans has a bad bearing or is just a bit sloppier and loose than the other, to the point of allowing the slightest bit of rub to occur.

Guess I will just be keeping an eye on it for now while I'm still under warranty.

Why don't you pop the back off and take a look? Might just need a bit of repositioning. And from what I've seen, it's a single screw to remove to gain access to the back.

Quick question about the 7577 laptop. This one is high on my list. I'm looking at the one with the i7-7700HQ, 16 GB ram, 256GB NVMe m.2 drive, 1 TB HDD, GTX 1060, etc.

Does this laptop ship with BIOS configured as RAID or as AHCI? (I assume any of these variants with both the m.2 SSD and a HDD would be configured the same from the factory).

I managed to dual boot linux and windows 10(factory default one) on my 7577 without doing much changes in BIOS. I have posted a short guide in 7577 mods and upgrade thread by @ Maleko48. You can check that out.
