For those of you interested in running Windows 7 I am currently working on building a stock Win7x64 Ultimate ISO for our 7577's. Will let you know when it's ready. If I can find the time I will try building a guide too since I find AtomAnt's to be out of date and somewhat confusing (but still very useful if you take your time and know what you are doing). If you are up to the task I have all the necessary files for building your own all in one location on my 7577 MEGA account I will share once I am satisfied. PM me for access if you want to work on it using my file repo.

Your father really love you. If you cannot change the outcome, I guess you just have to make the best out of the SSD right?

The drive that came with this laptop in the M2 slot is just SATA. I also have a SSD in the HDD slot, replacing the spinning drive, and it has approximately the same speed as the M2 slot SATA. I was trying to understand if this was an NVME drive with failure or not. Seems like it's just a regular SATA.

Sorry for not replying sooner, somehow I missed a few pages in this thread

Well it happened for the third time. I called the retailer and they don't have any more of the laptops so I can't request they give me a new one. Do any of you have experience with laptop motherboard and warranty? Like does my warranty stay if they have to replace the mobo? I still ****ing sucks tho and I'll try contacting the retailer again, it feels retarded to need to have warranty service after a month or so of usage.

I think the retailer would further deal with dell as he cannot replace a mobo on its own as this specific model is very new. I don't think replacement parts would be available for this machine at this time. Since all this will be done by dell only so no worry for warranty.

Thing is we don't have dell service centers here, we have third party service centers that are authorised by dell for the repairs.
Tho I am not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

You don't need to worry since they are "authorised" by Dell. Other than this you can wait for reply from other experts.

One more thing if you have that return policy still working(i mean the 30 day return policy) just return for sire you will get a better machine than this one;-)

Sadly the return policy is done and finished D:
I do like this machine a lot tho, especially considering how **** the Eastern European laptop market is.

Well the service center is closed right now anyway so I'm probably getting it there tomorrow.

FYI, I exchanged it. This one has less fan noise, the GPU responds better (is trackable better) and doesn't have a broken keyboard. I'd still like to know the answer about the 7567 / general keyboard compatibility

Great posts, guys. This thread alone puts Dell Support to shame. Thanks for all the effort put in. I've been looking for an inexpensive gaming laptop for awhile and I bit on the crazy sale Costco had in Dec. for the 7577 - i5 FHD. It ticks all the boxes for the price/performance I was looking for.

One thing I have noticed is that colors seem to be quite muted in 3D games, much more so (seemingly) than on the desktop or in 2D applications. I've used ICC profiles provided here, which have helped, but there still seems to be a distinct difference.

This is a mock-up of what I had going last night (sorry, the laptop is at home). I had Civ 6 running in windowed mode and a Google images search with Civ 6 screenshots pulled up right next to it. There was a major difference in the the saturation of the colors:

Now I know the IPS panel is nothing to write home about, but I was wondering if there is some hidden setting to where NVIDIA is using some limited color profile different than the system/integrated graphic's one. Or, maybe I'm just going nuts :) I'm a few days from moving forward with a screen replacement (for brightness and color accuracy), but I wanted to see your thoughts on it may being a software issue.

    Danka!

So the screen is nothing to write home about for sure. The colors of the screen are pretty poor. I have zero regrets with my screen replacement. I would say try the profile that is in this thread for your stock panel and see if it makes anything better for you. If it does great, if not then replace the screen with something better.

Here's an actual example of what I was talking about with the color/saturation seemingly different between 2D and 3D. The second image was taken with an iPhone. I hooked up the 7577 to a Good quality (though non-calibrated) IPS monitor and the difference was still there, but the in-game was not nearly as washed out.

I think I'm going to go with a screen upgrade. Custom90, how was the difference in brightness on your new panel vs the old? Any banding issue with it being 6-bit panel like the Dell? Because I can notice the banding pretty easily on the 7577's IPS on gradients.

Thanks. I'll make sure to post the specs and some pics when I do the install.

I don't notice any banding on the Samsung display but I don't look at color gradients often. Also the new panel is much brighter than the stock one.

I had encountered display issues(backlight bleed and dead pixels) with my Inspiron 7567 UHD display. Tech support two times replaced lcd panel, issues remained. Requested system replacement, after some run-around and keeping pressure on support agents got approval, they are going to send me new Inspiron 7577 with max specs(UHD, 512gb ssd, 16gb ram etc.) Do you think it's good upgrade? I had Inspiron 7567 with max specs.

Does 7577 still have backlight bleed problems? I hope I won't have problems with new 4k model.

Yes 7577 has backlight bleeding(not sure about uhd model but fhd has) however few here have got without backlight bleeding and if it is, its very less(near camera, at top of the screen).

Yes, except battery 7577 is good or similar at every department compared to 7567.
Also sub is missing in 7577 but I dont care as laptop speakers are not for enjoying music;-)

Btw 7577(max specs) in Europe retails for about 1600 EUR or something? I got my 7567(max specs) for 1000EUR(also pretty sweet deal), so I got very good upgrade, but it was pain in the ass to deal with dellhell agents.

Here is what Dell support replied to me regarding backlight bleed on 7577.

    Hi,
There are no known issues with this model.
With regards to the backlight bleed, there will be some degree of bleeding on all LCD screens due to light leak.

We request you to kindly monitor the system once you receive it and let us know if there are any issues with the system that we can assist you with.

That's complete BS, we can just go a few pages back into this thread and we can see that we all have some backlight bleed. Or we are all just very unlucky.

IPS is prone to backlight bleed and always has been. It's really the degree of bleed that you have. My 3rd 7577 is the worst of the bunch, but I replaced the screen and sadly the bleed is just as bad on the samsung...

First one was the best one but it sold before my XPS. Second I bought and sold to a buddy since he needed a computer quick. Third is the one I'm on right now.

No I bought the first one and liked it enough to either keep the XPS or the 7577, the 7577 sold before the XPS so that's what I kept. The second I purchased with the intent to sell it and make money (military 15% coupon). I ended up not making any money on it because my buddy needed a computer. The third I ordered for super cheap because I figured I'd sell the XPS before the new one came out. I'll probably dump this 7577 once the XPS comes out since I like to play with new tech.

    *on edit*
I also had a bunch of 9550 and 9560's. Care to critique me there as well?

What is your opinion about notebookcheck inspiron i5 7577 review unit's screen backlight bleeding? They said "backlight bleeding is minimal". So can we say that Notebookcheck got the best unit from Dell (or just lucky) to get the best review? Of course we know that the screen is still mediocre.
And how does your first inspiron 7577 screen backlight bleeding? Does your first inspiron 7577 backlight bleeding screen better or worse... than how notebookcheck review their unit?

My first screen had the worst bleeding I've seen on the internet (posted pic a while back). Replacement unit I am very happy with, almost no bleeding there (just a little in the usual top middle section, but nothing serious). 2nd time charm for me.

My first 7577 looked almost the same as the pictures at notebookcheck. It really is a lotto when getting almost any IPS screen with how much backlight bleeding you will get.

Hi there, has anyone of you checked backlight bleeding after bezel remove?
my 7577 with the bezel on, had two areas of the backlight bleeding, one close to left side of the camera, and quite large second one at the bottom right close the pageup button.
I fixed this by modding bezel's clips in that two areas, because they pressing bezel to the screen a bit too much.

sure, but when you try it, your warranty is void. :)
first, check where you see backlight bleeding screen,
then find the clips, they are on the both sides bezel and front cover,
small blue arrows indicates approx. localization of the clips: jclips.png

and modify choosen clips on bezel or cover side, like this:

    before:
    j-clip.before.jpg

    after:
    j-clip.after.jpg

use a scalpel or small and sharp knife,
if you modify one or two, bezel will be in the same place but no longer pressing screen.
I hope that explain any questions..
That's the idea, you can also break the clips, or try to bend them with hot air..
