The only way i know is to connect the laptop's hdd into another computer, booting from usb and starting the windows 7 installation until the first reboot.
In that time you need to turn off instead of reboot and connect the hdd back to the laptop.
    Worked great in my case.

So I'm not seeing a flicker issue at all, but I do not operate these machines in dark or semi dark settings. In other words, normal day/night office lighting.
Brightness was my first indicator that I probably had the LG screens before I even loaded analysis tools. Very good.
So the 4K UHD is obviously and brilliantly sharper. But because it is compressed to a 15" screen, all that goodness is a bit wasted? Plugging in to a 27" screen, well, WOW! Things begin to pop.
Let me do a lights out side by side whites and blacks comparison and I'll get back to you on number 4.
On battery life, I'm not ready to commit because I'm still loading, adding, deleting, and the battery is not fully conditioned yet, and I'm not comfortable yet pulling the plug. Sorry.

I've ordered the LG display from eBay reseller. Dell Part # matches exactly, and I've seen it listed on other websites and it shows the display is made by LG on the actual item photo. Should have the display on Thursday and I will post back here with my results.

    Hi,

I'm going to buy this laptop, but I'm wondering if the i7 version will have a significantly noisier fan than the i5. The prices are close enough that I'd be willing to pay a bit more for the i7, but I'm wondering if the more power hungry processor will really heat things up during gaming, for example.

Anyone have any opinions of noise/heat for the i7 1080p model? I'd appreciate it.

Also, is the panel quality gamble going to happen regardless of which model I choose?

Hey guys I've managed to extract my vBIOS from the system BIOS with a little research and poking around. My goal is to either get the vBIOS unlocked for core, memory, and voltage control or to just simply set the default clock to a higher value.

I decided to just simply up the GPU clocks on base and boost by +135mhz, thereby hopefully affording me another +135mhz overclocking with afterburner while in windows.
I placed this modded rom back into the hdr file and saved it.

I'm not sure how to proceed from here or how to flash this modded BIOS. I'm not really familiar with this whole process, or what is safe and what isn't as far as trying to flash a custom BIOS to the laptop. Anyone have any guidance?

If anyone is interested in checking this vBIOS out I'll link it here.

    http://www.filedropper.com/gpu

Open it with Maxwell Bios Tweaker 1.36

Ok I've figured out how to just create the rom with my updates to the vBIOS included. I attempted to flash the rom to update the BIOS, however I got a secure flash failure or something. I guess Dell is blocking me from writing a new main block. Anyone know a way around this secure flash crap?

Yes, mine also arrived today @Netherlands.

Already made a review on Tweakers.net, you might know the site ;)

First toughts about the laptop: not sure if I should call the looks modest or boring: without the red accents it looks an awefull lot like my HP ProBook I use for business - and thats no compliment. Screen brightness on the FHD is indeed not top of the line, but the viewing angle and matt finish make it a good screen in my book. The sound is clear but very flat, I'm still tweaking the equalizer to find a bit of bass - wake up you lazy subwoofer!

Bytheway, how do you guys check if you have a BOE or LG screen?

And to join in on the screen brightness arguments here.
It depends SO MUCH on what your prior reference is...

These are my 3 laptops and they are all running on 100% brightness. I'm not impressed by the Dell because my HP laptop does a better job. But that Samsung screen almost makes me cry :p (it's also a mirror screen, I'm so glad that I just sold this Samsung & it will be leaving soon).

Hi guys, just wanted to give some feedback about my case with this laptop, first I'm an spanish speaker so i will try to do my best, Ordered laptop directly from dell on november 29th and arrived on December 7th, this in the USA, I'm upgrading from a 2010 dell latitude e5410, so it is a big change, I ordered the i7 FHD configuration, and added the SSD (Transcend 128gb mt2800) did a clean installation with windows media creation tool and then formatted my hybrid disc which is a Toshiba. I'm planning on buying another 8 gb stick RAM on friday once i get paid lol. the RAM I found in my laptop was this: https://www.oempcworld.com/mm5/merc...uoZfUttNse7Rzzovk3u5MbeVuLLoX4op-0aAlSf8P8HAQ and ill buy it from this site (cheapest one) I got the non-LG monitor, but still is pretty good for me,I used the calibration file someone provided some posts before and now is looking fine,is not as white as my previous one but is just a matter to get used to it.

this is my second day with it and im really enjoying it. keyboard is good for me no flexes or anything and keys are good for my fingers. the trackpad is really good too, the multiple finger functions work really good and i just need to get used to them to have all the juice of them. the space key sometimes does not makes spaces there is like a death point but once i get more writting with it iill be fine, in general i really liked the laptop for now, but still have a really big question about the battery, i know that it was already answered but:
I do not know what is the proper way to use the battery so it will last longer, can i keep it plugged in? do i need to charge it and then recharged when needed? what is the best way can someone please help me? also when i tried to use F5 to refresh a web page it does not work it seems is only working as a play/pause button, is there a way to change between these functionalities? i saw a function lock in the esc key but it doesn't do anything at least in my laptop.

BTW I'm running Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 in this laptop without issues and that was one of the reasons I didn't wanted to change of laptop since me and my brothers really enjoy this game hahahha

thanks Guys ! and I'm willing to answer any question.

Ok, managed to get win7 64-bit up and running. Few questions though...for anyone else running win7 on the laptop:

After installing all dell drivers, my USB 3.0 ports are still not working...does anyone have the direct driver files to get them working in win7?
Are there drivers to get the "function" keys working on the keyboard?
Also, the backlight on the keyboard is stuck on if the machine is on...they never dim. Is there a setting or driver for that?

    Everything else is running great.

    Thank you

For those of you looking to get a single stick of ram with the Amazon i5 256 SSD version; PNY NHS ram does work with the factory ram: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B012TS9X7Q

I bought this and it worked without any trouble AlhamdulillAllah. Haven't run a memtest but I doubt there will be a problem as PC is running just find and it shows as 16 GB.

It's a bit expensive right now, when I got it it was for ~$33(before tax).

I've got an LG display being delivered today. I'll let you know how it goes. According to the service manual its as simple as using your fingers to pull off the bezel around the screen, removing 4 screws, remove the cable, and taking out and putting in the new screen.

Also for anyone that was looking for a way to disable the touch pad on the fly you can do it through Windows Mobility Center. Right click on the battery icon in the bottom right corner, click turn off touch pad. I don't know why but I couldn't figure this out. I actually tried disabling the device in system properties. I still don't know why Dell didn't include a dedicated function key in 2015, but this is acceptable for quick disabling of the touchpad.

Awesome. Thanks Talon. The BOE is mediocre at best, but not as bad as some have made out. But there is alot better out there than that. Still not a bad deal on this model even with adding memory/ssd and possibly a panel. Coming from a several year old ROG from Asus which would burn the skin off my legs this is a pleasure to use. Also have a new wifi card I bought to replace the 1x1 (Intel

which specific model panel did you order? Not sure if you had it listed back in the 100 or so pages I've read. Link would be even better.

This is the screen I purchased as it matches the Dell P/N that others here have said they got in their laptops that came with the LG display.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-LCD-Sc...-/371436863210?ssPageName=ADME:X:eRTM:US:1123

I agree the BOE isn't a terrible screen, but for me the brightness issue when playing games with dark areas or maps it can be difficult to see stuff.

The price of this laptop was great. I have a beast desktop, but needed something relatively light, cheap, and yet still capable of gaming. I had originally purchased the Acer Nitro with the i7 6700hq and 960m, but it overheated and throttles terribly at stock. With a large undervolt and locking the CPU down from turboing, I was able to get CPU temps under control but the GPU at stock just ran way too hot and would throttle down. With this Dell system I run full boost clocks and overclock my GPU +135 +200mem all day with max temps around 70C.

I actually had a small (pin prick size) manufacturing defect on my palm rest rubber coating. It's a tiny tiny bubble. It was hidden under the specs sticker and after I finally removed it the other day I found the defect. I talked to Amazon and was offered either a new system or a discount. I took the discount as its so small and I'm happy with my system otherwise. Managed to get this laptop after the discount for $679 + tax and 2 day shipping. Not a bad deal at all.

good luck with the swap today, granted it's pretty easy to do. I'm interested to hear what your thoughts are more of the color space differences than between the brightness.

I'm interested in the swap results too. Thanks for posting your experience Talon! The BOE screen is not terrible, but it and the trackpad are the two things I wish were better.

Received 2 7559's in the office today.

One has an almost pinkish tint (very minor) and is a tiny bit dull, with annoying bleeding on black screens - but overall the colour isnt too far off for gaming.

The other seems a bit brighter, with cleaner looking whites - but with a yellowish tint on some stuff (before calibration). Also, both before and after calibration, the blue sky in games (such as FO4) or the Heaven benchmark looks very washed out/baby blue. However, there's no backlight bleed on this one.

Really difficult choosing which to keep. The first one is probably better for gaming. Though it's a toss up. But seriously, wtf Dell. How can these look so different out of the box?

Both bought from Australian Dell store on the same day.

    Display has been swapped out.

L-G Display 15.6" Panel LP156WF4-SPB1 Is what the sticker on the monitor and what HWinfo64 is reporting.

300nit IPS display. No dead pixels. Same or less backlight bleed. Colors definitely seem more accurate but the displlay itself doesn't seem ridiculously brighter than before. Viewing angles are on point though. Its hard to compare now that I've been using for past 30 minutes.

I have the BOE FHD non-touch matte panel too and am thinking of replacing it. Is the replacement procedure for this screen as simple as removing the display bezel, some screws, and the display cable? The 7559 service manual (page 78) would seem to indicate that for the non-touch screen display you first have to remove the hard drive, keyboard, palm rest, fans, and the display assembly, in that order, before you can remove the bezel, etc. and replace the panel.

It was as easy as I said it was. Just remove the battery cable from the bottom of the laptop, remove the bezel, the 4 screws, disconnect the cable from the back of the old, put in the new, connect the cable and screws, replace the bezel, reconnect the battery cable and done. Took me all of 10 minutes to complete.

It's LTN156HL02-201 , apparently it's the best replacement you can get for the Y50 . Not sure if it will work with the Dell 7000 but it's got the same connector , back-light and resolution..etc so fingers crossed.

After a clean install of Win 10 my keyboard backlight was set to off. I found the controls in the Windows Mobility Center. It auto dims if you don't use the keyboard for a while so if yours isn't, that might suggest that the driver has issues.

My 7559 arrived on Monday (FHD version with 8GB RAM and 1TB SSHD).

Spent last night adding another 8GB RAM (HyperX Impact 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SODIMM 1.35v), installing an mstata SSD (Samsung 120GB 850 EVO M.2 SATA SSD), doing a clean install of Win 10 on the msata ssd and wiping the SSHD for file storage.
After installing the latest drivers, this machine works like dream. Boot time from cold is <6 seconds, although I'm sure that will feel like an age after a couple of weeks ;)

I was surprised to see that the BIOS it came with was 1.0.3 as it was supposedly only built the other day.

Renew install or shrink volume after a recovery volume deletion?

Why delete the recovery partition? Just shrink C and make another one
