I'm interested to buy this laptop, but unsure if it will take 2133MHz DDR3 1.35V and 9.5mm HDD? Someone has experience with these specs?
-
I'm confused now. Is this unicorn LG display on this Inspiron 300 or 200 nits. Is it really brighter? I read they're different from the Aloenware version and now you're suggesting do they're the same.

I just did that, works fine. -

i also have acer E1 571G with LG panel too with 200 brightness , dell panel absolutely brighter and some what better color reproduction -
It's 1600MHz and it works fine for me. Pretty sure that as long as you don't mix the RAM sticks between the stock 1600MHzRAM and the 2133MHz RAM it should be fine.
And not sure about the HDD dimensions but it's a regular 2.5" Drive. -
Just ordered a Killer 1535 wifi card since the stock wifi card is pretty dreadful. The stock one is fine for browsing and stuff but for games the ping is far too high and the connection lags a little. I'll let you guys know if it's any good!

got this SSD works great.. and replaced my SHDD with a complete blank one .. made a fresh install of windows from USB.. works fine. it obtained the key from bios probably.

anyone got ubuntu installed? i think im having issues with the new skylake not compatible with the kernel?? -
thanks for the input, i purchased this set of ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231728
and this SSD

Now i just need to know what not to do when reformatting the hybrid drive so it still uses the 8GB as cache -
Question about upgrading to a larger M2 SSD from the stock 120 one. If you clean install W10 to the new M2 SSD from a USB flash drive made using the media creation tool, will windows automatically install all the correct latest drivers or do you still need to download/install some of them from Dell's support site?
-
9.5mm should work -
-
-
Specifically what 8gb ram stick comes in this model?
Is it important these days to match the second one to the first one, or will any old one give the same performance? -
You should be able to use other RAM with the same performance characteristics so they are more or less matched. Of course same brand and part is probably safe. -
Hoping someone here can help me. I have had this laptop since last Thursday and it's great except for one issue: there is a weird diagonal tearing effect that happens when playing 3d games, but thankfully not every one of them. It all but goes away when I turn off vsync, but I can still see it somewhat in Kerbal Space Program even with it off. I've tried using different external monitors and the issue still occurs.
I have never heard of diagonal screen tearing before so I have no idea what is going on. Wondering if anyone else has this issue. Again, Kerbal Space program is the best game to replicated it, but games like Crusader Kings 2 and Dota do it as well. I have found at least 3 other people with the issue so I know I am not the only one at least. Otherwise, it's a great laptop. -
This is a habit I think everybody should get into. Once you've gotten your system freshly installed/drivers updated etc., make a backup image.
Then make another one before you're about to do anything stupid. It's quick too, if you have an SSD (and are saving the image to another SSD/USB3.0 device) it takes less than 15 minutes to do.Quadzilla likes this. -

Just upgraded my single 8gb ram dimm with a second 8gb crucial 8gb 1600 1.35v today and it made a significant difference in games. A very real 10-20fps difference in some cases. The games run smoother and don't feel like slow motion even when getting high FPS. That single channel 8gb was choking this system terribly. Best 34$ I've spent on hardware lately. I recommend it to anyone. I plan to do a benchmark comparison later this weekend when I get home.
Prior to upgrading task manager was showing 70-+80% ram usage while gaming.Stanley08 likes this. -
What is your the exact model of the RAM that you bought dude?

Well Dell sure knows how to give good and bad news...
The good news: expected shipping date: 30-12-2015. Current status: On it's way with DHL. Thats like 29 days ahead of schedule...
The bad news: currenct location of your laptop: China. -

Hey guys so I got my 7559 today the 4K screen looks great but when I try to pin websites from (internet explorer cause you can't from edge) to the taskbar they are tiny compared to the others. I tried looking all over online and spoke with Dell support but they couldn't figure it out and said it is designed like that.
Now playing around with it for about 2hrs I found that if I change the resolution down to 1080p it works icons are all the same size on taskbar but I want to use my 4K display so my question is:
Is there any other way of making the icons look the same using 4K settings?
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions. -
try adjusting the screen scaling

You can get student or employee discount of 5% -
M.2 SSD
DDR3L RAM
That's more or less +$200 (depending on the ssd capacity) but imo worthy -
his manager keep call and ask about the stock
btw buy from Dell Malaysia website can get student discount for 5% ??
but too bad Dell Malaysia website didn't offer the DOS version, else I sure grab it
main reason I get DOS version I can use those money spend on SSD and extra RAM since my college offer Windows for us -

I'm still wondering when the Belgian azerty keyboard layout will become available. I've chatted and tweeted several times but still got no answer to my question
All other notebook models are available with that keyboard layout though. -
Thats the exact model I bought with a $34 price match. -
So the model in the laptop you have said is HYNIX HMT41GS6BFR8A-PB NO AA 8GB 2Rx8 PC3L-12800S 11-13-F3
I have found: HYNIX HMT41GS6MFR8C-PB NO AA 8GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 12800S 11-12-F3
So the difference is 11-13-F3 vs 11-12-F3 and PC3L vs PC3 - are these changes anything to take notice of? I believe PC3 is 1.5V and PC3L is 1.35V, will having the higher voltage on the new stick have any impact? -
-
Thanks Talon,
Would this be a better option? Hynix RAM seems very hard to come by in Australia

Does anyone have a modded BIOS for this laptop? If so, can you share it or let us know if we can change memory timings?
-
You probably have to get someone to make a modded bios for you like over on Techinferno.
Generally you cannot even share modded BIOS anymore because they contain things like your embedded Windows key. -
I just received the recovery usb from Dell. To me it looks like a generic windows 10 recovery. It there a way to tell if it is a custom recovery? Its around 5 1/2 gigs. Is there any advantage to perform a clean install?
Also I got a cooling pad for the laptop. Its helps out when gaming on your lap. Fans still comes on, but the laptop never gets above 50c. -
Thats what they sent me just generic Windows 10
Not a factory recovery image like they said they were going to
So unless you want a clean install dont bother.
Also this one boots into the Windows 10 recovery options its not like a regular Windows disk.Last edited: Dec 3, 2015 -
I ordered one on Amazon and received it yesterday. I was surprised at the lack of bloatware other than McAfee. I also Updated the drivers through Dell's support software and the Realtek audio drivers kept prompting to install/uninstall after every restart - had to fiddle with windows update to shut it up. Otherwise it's looking to work pretty nice. Just need to learn how to undervolt the CPU and GPU since 72 degrees seems a little high.

very very intermittently i get the intel hd graphics crashed? anyone have a fix?
-
next time if buy another laptop from Dell then will do it, thanks -
thinking of getting one from Dell Malaysia (non SSD model, 1TB only with Windows 10 home) and planning to upgrade to m2 SSD.
The only problem is that I was wondering whether Dell provides the Windows 10 installer so I could do a fresh install to the SSD? If not, can I download from the support site? -
-
well i chatted with dell, they wont replace the boc screen. I love the laptop except the screen. Does anyone have the exact serial number of the lg screen so I can go buy one and swap it out? thx

Also, the BOE display isn't bad. It's not as bright as the LG panel, but after calibration, the colors are good. Try my calibration file: http://1drv.ms/1XKWkNCLast edited: Dec 3, 2015
