Just a heads up, the latest version of the Realtek Audio driver posted on Dells website for this laptop caused me a weird popping/crackling audio issue in games and listening to music. I downloaded the "other version" posted and this fixed the issue. My issue may have been isolated or something went haywire, but I'm sticking with this version for now as it works.

Honestly there is proof out there somewhere that the card cant use the 4gb of VRAM of available due to bus limitiations and why Nvidia only sells 2gb desktop cards .
Its not hurting anything from what i can tell and im not complaining about having it either.
I wouldnt make to big a fuss about it one way or the other. -

Dell offers a download for the recovery image of our machine.
I typed in my service tag but it said not available for me.
Maybe someone else will have luck downloading it with there service tag ? Also if someone could upload it for us to grab that would be great.
Sometimes Dell adds new drivers and fixes to there OS that you cannot get anywhere else except from a new machine or a hosted image .
So i would like to see what this entails. You can find it under Windows 10 drivers then there is a new section that says Operating System (1) file .
Direct link for our machine. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/OSISO

So far I LOVE THIS LAPTOP!!!
It is a HORSE when it comes to video editing, gaming, and more. I especially like the lack of an optical drive, it is actually what sold me on the laptop.
Thanks for sharing about the drive updates everyone.

If I were to get a laptop for school, would you recommend this or the X1 Carbon 3rd gen? I want to be able to do some light gaming, and this computer seems way overpowered for my purposes, but...
Which one should I get?pae77 likes this. -
The X1 Carbon 3rd gen is almost double the price?!

one more question and I will leave everyone alone. lol
http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-DDR3-...=1448641099&sr=8-1&keywords=ct2cp102464bf160b I got this yesterday it was onsale for $55 , It looks like it should work. -
There is a new system bios out today for our machine with quite a few fixes.
Also can someone try to download the hosted System image file from Dell ?. It wont accept my service tag not sure why but maybe someone can try and report back .
Its located in the drivers sections under operating system. -
Hi,
I've tried 5 service tags, no chance! -
Thank you Reddeer.
Makes me wonder if its working at all for anyone.
I thought maybe its because im using the Amazon model service tag and maybe the hosted image is for the SSHD model.
Alienwares were like that in that they knew which harddrive you were attempting to do a restore on. -
My version is the one with the ssd and the hdd. We also have 2 laptops with fhd and hdd and 2 with uhd and hdd.
All the same, no system image file. -
OK cool well that rules out that theory of SSHD vs just SSD models.
I want that image file but no clue at this point how to retrieve it .
They even note system fixes and hot fixes so i know that will be the only way to get those files as Dell does not upload those separate fixes.
If you figure it out let me know. I cant think of how to get it and im not sure if even tech support can help. -
There is also nothing on the download page , I've tried several models.

Im curious. Hows the keyboard/touchpad/build quality? Specifically, how does the keyboard compare to others in the same price range and can I expect the laptop to last through a few years and some bumps and bruises?
-
I just tried too. It was a no go with my service tag. I went ahead and contacted support. I explained the issue and the rep wanted to do a gotoassist with me. I went ahead and said ok. He informed that the recovery image on the website was inactive.
Once he was viewing my screen, he tried to do a system recovery from my laptop. I went ahead and stopped him. I explained again I was trying to download the recovery image from the website. So he offered up the recovery image via usb stick. I asked if it would be the latest and greatest, he assured it would be. I said ok and Dell will be sending through snail mail. He said it could take 7-14 for me to receive it. -
How is the price for the usb stick ?

I use Acronis and make images of my OS when ever im going to tinker or do fresh installs so i can get back to exactly where i was in minutes instead of hours reinstalling everythingRamzay and dutchyankee like this. -
Question: Does this laptop support HDMI Output of 1080P @ 120hz? I'm able to change it to 60hz just fine, but whenever I change it to 120hz, my external screen turns blank and the laptop starts to panic with the intel driver crashing. Unless I unplug the HDMI cable, the laptop crashes and reboots.

plz don't flash the new bios .. i have started getting BSODs after the bios update..i am considering rolling back to old bios
-
I have flashed the bios yesterday without any problems !!

When i contacted Dell and wasted over an hour on the phone inquiring about the USB stick the only thing they found to send out was the standard Windows 10 USB stick..
So hopefully you get the factory recovery image version for our machines and not just Win10-On-A-Stick -
IME- best way to communicate with Dell technical support is via email.

Hi guys! It's my first post on this forum, I've just ordered my 7559.
I have one big question. How works the 7559 with the battery? I mean, the battery is not removable, so What the laptop does when the battery is full? Does it cut the charging? Or Is it always charging?
Thanks for your help! -
All electronics today have a cut off when the battery gets full. Most of them also will condition the battery even if its plugged in and use a little then recharge it so it does not just stay full all the time.
The 7559 has these options based on your use case so when you get it you can decide how you want the battery to behave or just leave it be. -
Thanks so much! -
I have had this laptop for about a week and love it to death, probably because I was coming from a 10 year old Dell Inspiron 9400 Core 2 Duo with 17 inch TrueLife glare screen.
I have no issue with the "bleed" or the mouse pad or the keyboard like some other posts here, truly love it.
However, I did spend 2 days with Dell support about the following issue. Whenever I closed the lid and opened up the lid again, the screen would go nuts. Flashing, weird pattern etc. The only way to fix it was to do a hard reboot. Long story short, you cannot have both the Intel driver and the Nvidia driver active at the same time. After you disable the Intel one, its fine. Except for the bit where the NVIDIA does not support sleep; only options are hibernate or "do nothing" which leaves your screen on....
Luckily most of the time this laptop will spend its time attached to a 27 inch external screen, so it is a workable solution for me.
Other than not having the sleep mode anymore, is there a reason why you should have both video cards active?
----------
UPDATE 11/30
Turned Intel driver back on, since otherwise you cannot connect to external display apparently...
After experiencing weird font issues in Office applications turned off graphics acceleration. I also had a HUGE start menu, filling 80% of the height of the screen and the fonts in the IE11 favorites bar also looked HUGE. After restarting with the hardware acceleration in Office turned off, everything came back to normal!! Don't quite get how the start menu responds to hardware acceleration in Office, but hey who's complaining. All good now, including no longer seeing the weird screen after coming out of sleep mode.... Sometimes you wonder if you should just switch to Apple!!Last edited: Nov 30, 2015 -
Well, here are my thoughts on the laptop after several day having it. I will probably end up keeping the laptop. I haven't seem anything at this price point with these specs. I mainly use the laptop while on the couch. I use it to surf the web and have been playing Fallout 4 on it. So, here are my impressions on the different components.
1. Screen - I think this is my biggest gripe. As stated in a post earlier, I believe it is the LG panel which should be the better panel. Its a decent screen. I really dont thing its 300 nits though. If someone can tell me how to check,I can. I cant image then how bad the other panel is. I did have to create two different profiles because of the screen. I created a web surfing and a game profile. The web surfing profile is turned down(brightness) with good color. I find this profile very acceptable. If I try to run FO4 with this profile, I cant see a thing when it is night. This is is the reason for a game profile with full brightness with everything turned up. If I leave this profile active when web surfing everything is washed out and unbearable, but again this profile is suitable for games. It could also be FO4 too. I cant turn up brightness ingame. Hey, maybe order a better panel in the future...
2. Keyboard - I think its fine maybe because I use chicklet type keyboards. I do have a mechanical keyboard that I use with my gaming rig, but the keyboard on the laptop is fine. I do use a Dell work laptop which I dislike because the amount of flex involved with the keyboard. The back-lit keys are a bonus too.
3. Speakers - I find the speakers lackluster on the laptop. Again, they are laptop speakers, so I wasn't expecting anything great. I will get a pop/distortion every now and then when watching youtube. I have messed with the Dell audio settings and that seems to help somewhat. I do use a lower profile bluetooth speaker I sit on the laptop when I play games. Bluetooth speaker is 10x better.
4. Battery - The battery is great! If you are just surfing the web with about 75 percent brightness, it will last 6-8 hours on the battery. For a laptop this big, I was expecting 3-4 hours. That big battery helps! Of course, if I'm are playing games I always have the power cord plugged in.
5. Trackpad - I'm indifferent here. I never use trackpads on laptops. I have always used a mouse and will still use a mouse. For the couple of times I have used it, its works ok. I haven't had any issues with it. I guess if I used it exclusively, I would have more comments on it.
6. Gameplay - The gpu just chugs along. I've only played FO4 on it and it does a pretty good job. I think I'm playing with the majority of setting on high. I get around 40-45 fps which is fine with me.
I think that's all the major components. I have also added another SSD and different wifi card. I will be ordering another stick of memory this week. I have updated all drivers and the bios too. Overall, for what you get and pay for, it was a great value for me. I'm still looking at other gaming laptop, but I cant seem to find anything better at the moment. thanks... -

Does anyone have a calibration .icc .icm for the BOE display?
-
yay i am lucky my panel is awesome and its LGD04B9
its FHD and i bought it from amazon -
I just purchased the 4k version with 8GB of ram. If i have read this forum correctly I should have no problem installing a m.2 SATA III Samsung 850 evo. As well as installing a extra 8GB stick of ram provided it is a 204pin DDR3L (1.35v). with that being said could some please explain to me or point me in the right direction to reinstall windows 10 onto the SSD so that it will recognize my windows product key. Also i have never reformatted a hybrid drive, so is there anything I should know before I do.
Thanks.Dannakard likes this. -

Take the quote below as you wish. The quote below is from a Alienware thread. I have the same panel. I mean its pretty decent, but I now I wish I didn't read the reviews on the panel. I'll end up keeping the laptop. I still think its pretty good.
Monitor Name: LG Philips [Unknown Model: LGD04B9]
Monitor Name (Manuf): 156WF6 [DELL P/N: KFKV0]
